WALL·E (2008)
Watched this one again...Still tracking.
Let me tell you, watching Wall-E feels like a glimpse into a future that's uncomfortably close to reality. The way it portrays a dystopian world where constant advertisements bombard you, and big industries promote a sedentary lifestyle to keep people sick and distracted-it hits hard. It's like a warning sign flashing right in front of our eyes: keep them down and distracted, and you can control them.
But amidst all this bleakness, Wall-E delivers a genuinely heartwarming and soul-stirring experience. It's a beacon of hope in a dark landscape, reminding us of the power of love and connection. Despite the dire circumstances, Wall-E and EVE's journey is filled with moments of pure joy and tenderness.
So, yeah, while it may be a stark reflection of some troubling aspects of our society, Wall-E ultimately leaves you feeling uplifted and inspired. It's a powerful reminder to cherish what's truly important in life and to never lose sight of our humanity amidst the chaos.
Mayflies (2022)
Exactly what we need
We need stories of men who FEEL. We need it to be normal and expected and we simply need MORE.
Mayflies, a beautiful book brought to life by beautiful humans. When programs can make you angry, laugh and cry all within a few breathes, you know you have a keeper. I will watch this show anytime I feel my emotions getting clogged up because this will be a sure release.
Having the teen flashbacks were real gut kickers. Reminding us that some of those things that happened when we were kids...stayed with us and helped form the adults we became, good or bad. The lessons of love and life....what friendship truly entails was incredibly meaningful.
Call the Midwife: Episode #13.1 (2024)
Brilliantly done.
Rosie Jones surprised me! I love her comedy and I think she is wicked quick I did not know, she was a great actress as well. I was pleasantly surprised, and her performance gave me another reason to think she is one of the coolest humans alive right now.
As for others bashing the way things were handled satating it wasnt realistic...well...how in the world would we know that given we arent living in that time. No, that wouldn't happen in this day and age but considering this wasnt something that *did* regularly occur, how WOULD people truly behave. Not with their executive functioning enabled, that is for sure.
The show continues with deeper dialogue and wholesome goodness.
