Bob Marley: One Love (2024)
Well done
If you want to see a well cast movie, with actors who obviously studied the characters they portrayed see this film. If you want to see beautiful shots of the lovely country of Jamaica, see this, the production value is excellent, costumes and hair and make up as well as locations. Very authentic. Kingsley is fantastic. Even the woman who played his lawyer Diana Jonson, did a great job portraying her. But if you already know very well the story of Bob Marley, this film won't teach you anything new. Jamaicans can feel proud of this man and how he gave the world this wonderful music called reggae and how he loved humanity so much. But I found that the story was a bit all over the place. Nevertheless I did enjoy everything else.
Croce e delizia (2019)
Wonderfully entertaining
Great story. This film has every emotion. The locations are gorgeous. The sets were also. Without giving too much of anything away, it's really a great story of pure love and family. The music is perfect too. The actors are beautiful as well as talented. Sandra's love for his father is so strong and unconditional. It was wonderful to see the difference between the two families while at the same time seeing how similar they really are. That no matter what, we all need love. This film is very much worth watching. You'll need to read the subtitles unless you speak this most beautiful language... Italian.
Top Boy: Building Bridges (2019)
Excellent
This whole series is superb. Finest acting from these young men and ladies. Not glamorised the way American writers/directors love to glamorise the drug selling business. There is no trying to make drug dealing look pretty here. It's just raw and to the point. One thing I noticed-when Sully was being released from prison he gave his date of birth as..30-2-1984. From what I know there is no February 30! The only mistake made in the whole series!
The Family Business (2018)
How did they get a third season?
Season one was amazing season two, a waste of time. I'm absolutely surprised there will be a season three. I'm disappointed that 2 was rubbish.
Here We Go Again (2016)
One season? Why??
Whoever decided to cancel this show, should be given another position. They should not be deciding whether a show is canceled or not. It's so funny. The actors vibe so well. It's great to see Letoya doing such a great job and wendy Raquel Robinson hasnt stopped making me laugh. Very disappointed there are only 10 episodes
Half & Half: The Big Phat Mouth Episode: Part 2 (2003)
Bad hair jokes
Not sure why the writers found it necessary to constantly write negative lines around Rachel True's hair. Those jokes aren't funny. The writers spent too much time focusing on writing negative things about the hair. Either wig jokes or Rachel hair jokes. Black writers? I really enjoy these actors. But watching this show in 2020 and noting all the negative lines about hair is distracting so my review can only be about how upsetting that is. Atrocious. I will refrain from watching the rest of the seasons.
McDonald & Dodds (2020)
Beautiful scenery
I really wanted to enjoy this show. I love Jason Watkins. I think it can be quite clever, but I don't like the way his character is treated so terribly by his partner. Her character is horrible. I really wanted to enjoy it, but I simply could not. Great group of fabulous British talent!
Death in Paradise: Pirates of the Murder Scene (2020)
DI Mooney is superb
I never knew who Ardal O'Hanlon was and I'm sorry it took me this long to find out who he is. Not many actors move me. But his portrayal as DI Mooney is superb. I thought Kris Marshall was my favourite until Ardal. joined the cast. He's a brilliant actor. He shows natural emotions and he's charming and witty. I'm so sad to see him go. But the casting is so good on this show that I don't doubt the next DI will be great too.
Home Again (2012)
Eye opening
This was such a good movie. The story of deportees are so seldom told. It opened my eyes to what they go through when they go back to their country-Jamaica specifically as this story tells it. Tatyana Ali was superb. Great acting all around. My only complaint was that by the time Marva was working at the resort, she suddenly had a faux Jamaican accent. I guess to show passage of time? Not necessary. Paul Campbell as usual was great. Well worth watching.
Illicit (2020)
Musical???
I wanted to try to enjoy this film but it was impossible due to the ridiculous soundtrack that played so loudly. The music was also terrible. I've NEVER written a review before but this loud soundtrack over the dialogue was so distracting I just had to say something.
Fall Girls (2019)
Waste of time
I was hopeful it would be good, but over acting, stupid plot, weekend at Bernies but not funny at all. Costumes were good.
