Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
Made me think twice....
I remember renting this movie about 2 days before Halloween and as silly and stupid as the movie was it made me think twice about putting on a mask. I still don't like putting them on and if I do I always look for that stupid silver shamrock button on the side. I hate this movie and I will always have grudge against it for wrecking my young Halloween experience.
Halloween II (1981)
Not a bad follow up
A good follow up to the first Halloween though this movie goes for less plot and more gore which was not the case in the first movie. It's very similar to the first but still does not stand up against the original. I must say this movie looks great after you watch 3,4,5 and 6 it makes those movies look more awful then they already are. If your a first time Halloween watcher start with 1 and end with 2.(trust me)
Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
2 Reasons
If you liked FT13 part 1 then you should like this movie because it's pretty much the same movie. I think this one is a bit better for 2 reasons 1. The plot moves much faster then the first movie 2. This is classic Jason without the hockey mask and it doesn't get anymore old school then that...Fast pace and full of gore makes this one of the better FT13 movies.
Madman (1981)
Nothing to go MAD about
Madman is yet another slice and dice film from the 80's and it's really no different then Friday the 13th if you ask me. The basic setting is a camp in the woods, now in the woods lives the legend of madman martz and he basically kills counselors in stylish ways just like Jason. The only reason to suggest this movie is if your sick of watching Jason and you want a brief change in killers...So Just don't expect to much from this film because the plot is no different from FT13 and the acting is no better. The real letdown is that this movie is full of ugly girls, what's with that ??
Scarecrows (1988)
Great plot with a scary dark tone
A very underrated horror movie if you ask me. A very unique and stylish plot focus's on the hours after a bank heist in which 7 people (5 robbers 2 held hostage and 1 dog) are making their getaway in a hijacked plane. One robber decides to bail from the plane with the stolen cash and now the rest of the bank robbers must find the guy and get the cash before he gets away for good...once they land in the field the movie gets creepy as hell mainly because of the dark tone and those damn scarecrows...Great movie with a good plot and a lot of gore.
Rawhead Rex (1986)
Could be better
This could have been a better movie without question. Rawhead was one of the most fake looking monster's I have seen in awhile...But beside Rawhead this movie is only lacking some direction and FX, the story was good and the acting was just fine. overall it's a bit cheesy but it's worth a look.
Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
Sissy Santa
I knew when I rented this movie that it wasn't gonna be great. When I saw the warning (for gore) on the front cover I thought it was going to be very gory and have tons of great kills but I didn't see any of that in this. SNDN seemed to end way to soon and last Santa wasn't scary, he looked like a big sissy. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)
What the heck ??
The first was a classic, but this is just trash to say the least. Im not sure what Tobe Hooper was trying get across when he made this and whatever it was it didn't work. Stick with the first movie it maybe less gory but overall it's 100 times better.
Halloween (1978)
Great movie clips
Classic horror at it's best with this one. This movie gives us some of the greatest horror clips ever caught on tape such as the part when Bob gets stuck to the door with a knife or Myers just ripping into that closet door is still terrifying to this day and who could forget myers sitting up in the background when we all thought the movie was over. It never gets old and that's what I love about.
The Exorcist (1973)
Questions to ask God
This was and still is the most terrifying movie I have ever seen. The fact that it questions God and the Devil just scares the heck out of me. The Exorcist can get so intense at times you just want to go crazy and the fact that it almost never has a dull point makes it that much more great. Questions to ask: Why this girl?? Why the devil?? And what makes this movie so scary??
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Real as anything
None stop horror that is so true to life it almost makes you sick just watching it. Chainsaw is Based off the real life murders of Wisconsin farmer Ed Gein and with that in mind it makes this movie that much more horrible to take in...Personally I liked it but I warn those who have not seen it that what you will watch is maybe the most graphic and disturbing movie ever made.
Psycho (1960)
Old movies never die
This movie ranks with some of the best movies ever made and im not talking just about horror im saying THE BEST OF ALL TIME...When the movie psycho gets underway it seems like just a harmless love story but the worst is about to come once the rain begins to fall. I don't want to give anything away but let me tell you this movie is very sick and twisted if you can understand what bates is really up to. Great movie - ********** 1/2
The Trigger Effect (1996)
Shue is great again
Nothing too special in this movie it was a very good topic that seems to go to waste as the movie really falls apart in the last 30min. The one highlight I found was a good performance by elisabeth shue who seemed to follow her normal path as the underated co-star. Fans of Shue will like this movie if not it's just a no big deal movie.
Radio Inside (1994)
Catcher in the Rye kind of touch
I think this movie had a catcher in the rye feel to it, you either loved it or you hated it. I really felt moved by this movie and I don't know if it was because I watched it alone one sat. night or because I felt my old Elisabeth shue crush come back... In all a great story that's well told and played out by characters that are easy to like. (also watch and listen for Matt's catcher in the rye reference in the phone booth)- Great Movie for adults.
Friday the 13th (1980)
1st of many more
The first FT13 film of many also this is the movie that set the tone for the slasher craze of the 1980's. FT13 part 1 is best of the series the only thing it lacks is Jason who at the time of this movie was still decaying at the bottom of crystal lake. In time we would see our share of jason but for this movie it's his mommy killing for revenge. The killings are classic and the acting is bad but for true fans it's the first in a series of the GREATEST slasher movies ever made.
Offerings (1989)
Bad !!
This was not a good movie to say the least. I had a hard time watching it and i saw to much of other horror movies in this, like some of the killing and other small things, The acting was not so great and plot grew very poor as the movie went on. In all i would say 2 stars out of 10 because of bad acting and a weak ending to the movie.
