Ricky is a smart and brave comedian. It is one thing to be edgy and smart but I wonder what feelings is he trying to stir up with this one. As an awards show host, he was awesome with the roasts. But joking about depressing subjects to just prove that he can is not enjoyable at all.
When I watch a stand-up show, I expect to feel good. I expect to disconnect from the sad realities of life. This one insists on pushing the ugly and sad realities.
I never encountered a dying child personally but when I hear the "joke" in which he includes the subject of dying children with the reference "baldie", I can not help but think how I would feel if I was in the live audience and I lost a child to a terminal illness. Does any body need to be reminded of that? Tasteless.
