Underworld (2003)
A decent Movie
The movie was okay. Not ground-breaking or anything, but not a bomb. Just a good, decent, regular movie. It has a 'Matrix' feel to it. Dark leather, provocatively dressed, gun slinging, gravity defying heroes/villains. The plot is simple to grasp, and I thought the acting was pretty decent on everybody's part except Craven. Kate Beckinsale, i think, fit the role. It's good to see her outside the chick-flick type movies. I was hoping for more sword fighting since some of the vampires were alive back before guns... but I was happy with the shoot outs (even though a modified pistol seem to work better then 6+ automatic rifles)
The Last Don II (1998)
Not like Mario Puzo
Well, I thought the acting was better, and things didn't seem rushed compared to the first one... but I don't think this is what Mario Puzo was going for. I liked it a lot better then the first movie, but i thought the first movie did not live up to the book. The mafia war was great with all the back stabbing and having the FBI involved. The whole Rose-Marie business was a bit much. They butchered it too much. If you watched the first one, might as well watch this one for the mafia war.
The Last Don (1997)
Puzo Turning in Grave
Well, both me and my friend just finished reading the book. We rented the movie and watched it. The book was so much better. They left out many characters, didn't build characters up enough, and left a huge part of hollywood out. If you like mafia movies, this is a good one to see. Not to the caliber of Godfather or Goodfellas though. I suggest reading the book over watching the movie.
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Up to Par
I think this sequel lived up to it's predecessor. The first matrix was a shock to most people being the way it was, but now people had high expectations and a way bigger hype around it. But (trying to) ignore the hype and this movie's plot, effects and what not are up to par set by the last movie.
Spider-Man (2002)
Best Marvel thus far
Well if you're a marvel comics fan, and you hate how they screw up the plots you hold so dear, then you won't be THAT disappointed in this movie. Unlike X-men and Blade, Marvel actually stuck the the story line and strayed only a little. Sure, Parker's first girl wasn't MJ, but hey... Betty was boring I think. Felica Hardy is hopefully in a sequel. Just 3 things ticked me off, watching the green goblin talk and not have his mouth move (it annoyed me for some reason), Kirsten Dunst just reminds me of a ditsy blonde from Bring It On, not a Red Head like MJ, and the fact that MJ said 'Tiger' like once, maybe twice... which is practically MJ's catch phrase. But those are minor details... still a good movie
Fight Club (1999)
completely original
I found that Fight Club was completely original, so to speak. When it came out, movies were being made that were redone, based on, and quite similar to movies and plots that have already been done. All they added was a new explosion here and there, gun fights, and the occasional babe. Well Fight Club was quite original in the fact that the twist is the guy's a psycho, and he started some cult that pulls pranks and beat on each other to a bloody pulp.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
parts cut out
Well I thoroughly enjoyed the hollywood rendition of the movie, but it cut out the whole scene with Tom Bombidil. Sure it wasn't THAT exciting, but it would have been nice worth mentioning. But it would have made the movie a lot longer, too bad it's not on the DVD extended version or what ever
Alien Resurrection (1997)
Slightly Upset
Well just to some up my reaction of the movie... the plot it decent, and it builds it up so much, but the ending doesn't give the build up any justice. the CGI was decent, but the worst part was the Hybrid Alien. I think the looks of it was retarded. I think they should have came up with a different concept for the human/alien hybrid. Other then that, i think Winona Ryder's character, the new cyborg was cool, also the bad ass ripley and the crew of pirates. Hopefully the series doesn't end on such a low note and they come out with Aliens vs. Predator which is a dope concept already, they just have to make it
The Usual Suspects (1995)
Great Twist Endings
Well if you completely enjoy movies with twist endings, this has got a great twist for you. Quite creative, there's always something happening. The twist is so great that it may actually question half of the movie you just watched.
Predator 2 (1990)
shame
Well I must agree with the on going trend that this movie wasn't as good as the first one. Even though Danny Glover was decent, and that the Predator had more weapons, the trophey case (which introduced the idea Alien vs. Predator), and the different/multiple Predators on their ship.
I think what sucked about Predator 2 was that it didn't have the bad ass attitude of the Marine squad with their big ass guns and shoot first ask later attitude. I also hated the bad acting from all the supporting actors. It got really annoying (like bill paxton's character). Also, the stupid comedy events like the stupid granny with the broom killed the realism of the movie.
I think it was a great concept for a plot, just the director went a whole different route from the first movie.
