Tracker (2024)
Two episodes and DONE
The first episode was like watching paint dry. Characters were either a put off or left me emotionless. I keep watching the clock to see how much time remained. This is not a good feeling. They didn't even bother making it appealing, instead they went very butch. Off the Jump Tracker has a suspicious agenda feel to it. Sunday night does not give one great confidence. Borrowed the rest from another reviewer to make character quota. Tracker fails. If they made every effort into making a creative and entertaining show rather than allowing their political, ideological, and alternative lifestyles influence the product it may have had promise. I wouldn't be surprised if it's canceled. Although, I am very surprised Equalizer hasn't been canceled yet. But, you know why by the cast's predominate pigmentation scheme. So maybe it'll last for a few more seasons.
Rescuing Christmas (2023)
Interesting concept that felt bland
Wanted to love it, but the cast didn't grab, hold my attention. I found myself doing other tasks while checking back in periodically. Sam Page is a good anchor, but felt monotonic in this particular offering. Rachel Leigh Cook appeared a bit off, perhaps being executive producer took away from her usual shine. The ending seemed to be a bit of cut ins pasted together to wrap up the ends. The elves were annoying which in an odd way brought some sort of emotion. The optics of a non White Santa was irksome. Non White, female, Christmas overlord was bothersome. In fact, a good reason to downgrade further.
Hijack (2023)
Idris can't carry it alone
The series lacked any sort of suspense. I never felt anything about the characters. Smith Nelson came off as just get my ex out of my life. The Sam and Smith Nelson dynamic needed to be explored further as communication between the two was a integral part of the storyline, although a bit contrived. The doctor's wife was a raging, seemingly hormonal, lunatic. Entitlement would most aptly apply from my perspective. The captain needed to be on Prozac as he vacillated between sort of loving a crew member and doesn't she exist at other times. The former Egyptian military person seemed knowledgeable and worldly. Hijack was only interesting because of the question, how would Sam Nelson manipulate people AND most importantly why?
Creed III (2023)
Lacked the charm of Rocky films
The film lacked a certain sentimentality in the journey of this film.
Adonis Creed could have explored post professional boxing life with his 'mother' as was highlighted in Rocky III, IV. This would have brought more of a link between father/son and boxing. This would have been much more poignant than her place in this film.
There was angst between Creed and Anderson at the beginning. Betrayal by Anderson in the second stage. Visceral anger by both in the third stage. Murky conclusion by the conclusion. I can understand resentment by Anderson at Creed's success, but not the conclusion.
The staging of the fight between Creed and Anderson was a tip of the hat back to Rocky IV's fight between Apollo/Drago. Over the top to say the least. But, hey, Hollyweird.
The interplay between Creed and the Mrs was interesting in terms of their emotions. How does the Mrs expect to Creed to understand his own when she hasn't really dealt with her own.
