Suburbicon (2017)
When you're strange
If you are looking for something very different, then this is it. What a very very strange movie. It was unusual and entertaining. It is something I would maybe expect from Alfred Hitchcock. I think it deserves a much better overall rating than 5.7. The acting is well done. The setting is fine. The story is just weird....and I like that!
Beatriz at Dinner (2017)
Not Funny
This movie is advertised as a "sharply funny comedy". However, I didn't find anything in the least bit funny about this movie. In fact, there was not one thing in the movie that even brought a smile to my face. This movie is more of a drama than anything else. As a drama, this movie is pretty good. But as a comedy it rates a 4 out of 10 which I found quite disappointing.
A Quiet Passion (2016)
Only one word for this film:
Tedious. At first I very much enjoyed the poetry and the language. However, for me, the film became just annoying near the end where Mrs. Todd starts singing. At this point I just wanted to skip to the end of the movie. Several times I found Dickinson to be so negative that it made me wonder if she was ever content with anything in her life.
Murder Mystery (2019)
A fun who-done-it
This film is entertaining, fun, and very enjoyable. This is one of those movies where you can just sit back, unwind, and forget about things for about an hour and a half. The acting is great. The script is engaging. The setting is interesting. The whole family can watch this, but I think it would be more alluring to young adults and up. The story is a who-done-it with some low level comedy mixed in. I enjoyed this movie so much that I'm hoping that there will be a sequel. I don't know, but the way that this film ends.....there could easily be a continuation to Nick and Audrey's story. So far, this is one of my favorite movies this year.
The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019)
In Bad Taste
Who ever thought that this movie would be a good idea? My sympathies go out to Sharon Tate's family. I'm sure Farrands wouldn't appreciate it if someone in his family was brutally murdered and the event was dredged up and publicly thrown back in his face in the guise of an "entertaining" film....all for the purpose of making more money. This movie idea is highly inappropriate and cruel.
Still Laugh-In: The Stars Celebrate (2019)
Very Interesting
A very well done tribute to Laugh-In. I would love to see Laugh-In make a come back. Many of the things that were relevant 50 years ago are still issues that we struggle with today. I also love this show's choice for the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate award. Bravo!
