Selena (1997)
Awesome!!
Woah this movie was breathtaking. I, personally, did not know anything about Selena before this movie, so it really did clue me in on what a kick-ass person and singer she was! The acting was wonderful. Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos did superb jobs as Selena and Abraham Quintanilla, respectively! This movie moved me to tears as the ending scenes of Selena being rushed to the hospital played and her husband crying after he learned about Selena's death. This movie was rockin'!!! One of the best that I have ever seen!
Jane Eyre (1997)
Untrue to the novel
This movie was okay...as far as movie adaptions of novels go but it was not accurate with quite a few scenes:
1. Whatever happened to Jane's realtionship with Miss Temple and her renounsing Brocklehursts punishment against Jane?
2. What happened to Rochester being the fortune teller and tricking Blanche Ingram into telling him that she was only planning to marry him for his money? Also, his talk with Jane as the fortune teller was deleted.
3. Jane DID NOT tell St. John Rivers her real name when she got there. She kept Jane and told him it was an alias and that she did not want to communicate with anyone.
4. Why was it never mentioned that St, John Rivers was Jane's cousin? And that John Eyre died? Or, of the letter that he wrote to Jane from Madiera or the letter she wrote back to him?
5. Also, the confrontation with Mrs. Reed at Gateshead was quite important. Mrs. Reed conveyed hereverlasting disgust with Jane and told of the arrival of her uncle Johns letter many years back.
This movie lacked the spunk that the book did. Mr. Rochester was just a selifish, sarcastic brute. In the book, he was these things as well as imginative and lovable. I ,as a reader, was starting to fall in love with him as Jane was too. I was disgusted by the Mr. Rochester in this movie...
If you liked the book, i wouldn't see this movie.. it was a waste of my time and will be of yours also.
Die unendliche Geschichte III: Rettung aus Phantasien (1994)
What a Disappointment!
This was probably one of the most worst acted, poorly written and childish movies that I have ever seen. Even when I was 7 I thought this movie totally sucked! It is a disgrace and should rename itself and not be connected in any way to the other NES movies. The first Neverending Story was beautiful, beautiful graphics, acting, plot and characters. The second one was okay, but not as compelling as the first. Acting was good by the kid who played Bastian and Atrayu. This third movie completely cut off Atrayu and made Fantasia look like a piece of garbage. Rock Biter and Rock Baby were totally unrealistic and the plot line sucked. Jason James Richter's performance in this movie was a disgrace. I wish they would have used the same actors, but hey we all have to grow up, but come on this kid had no resemblence whatsoever to the first Bastian and for that matter the second... Come on people.. This movie was HORRIBLE!!
The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter (1990)
Okay, but not as good as the first one
Alrighty this movie was pretty okay. The acting was better than the third one, and the plotline was somewhat realistic. Xayide really did need a heart; she was a cold, selfish bi*tch. And it was touching at the end when Bastian wished for Xayide to have a heart :) that made the movie all worth it. Falcor looked somewhat real too.. unlike the third one. This movie gets a 5.5 rating from me.. it was pretty good, but not the best NES movie that I have seen
Labyrinth (1986)
The Best Movie EVER!!!
I loved this movie ever since the first time that I watched it when I was around 4 or 5 years old. I also didnt understand some of it, but that was okay, i liked the little goblins.. they made me laugh. Every year I watch this movie and I have made countless recommendations to others to see it. Most who have saw it come back to me and say "Jenny, that was the best movie I have ever seen, Thanks for recommending it to me! Now thats a good movie!! Beautiful acting by the singer David Bowie and by the beautiful Jennifer Connely!
The Miracle Worker (1962)
This movie was awesome
Since I had read the play before hand I knew this movie would be excellent but I didn't think it would be this excellent! Anne Bancroft did a phenomenal job as Annie Sullivan, and Patty Duke as Helen made me wonder if she really was blind and deaf! I would reccommend this movie to anyone and everyone who wants to see a good flick! ~*~Jenny~*~ [Note: This version of the Miracle Worker is much better than the 1979 version of it. Melissa Gilbert was just too tall for the role of Helen!
