Keeping the Faith (2000)
Pretty Good
All in all, good, though it runs a little long. Edward Norton is especially endearing as is Stiller (although, I don't currently know any leather-clad jacket Rabbi's). As for Elfmann she looks really coated and glowing in this film. I am not sure if that is just her or the makeup choice. Oh well, it is a good romantic comedy overall.
Preston Tylk (2000)
A Little Bit Odd
I am not sure why Luke Wilson chose to star in this film. He does an okay job. He looks tormented at the required points and hurt at others. As for Norman Reedus he plays "creepy" well and I found it nice to see him in such a part even though it is similar to his character in the movie Gossip. I think it's better to see another Wilson film than this one. Try Bottle Rocket or Home Fries. Overall, this movie was just okay. If anything see it for some nice Dennis Farrina moments.
Blue Streak (1999)
Love That Luke Wilson
Normally funny movies are a no-go for me but I kind of liked this one. Martin L was amusing as the bumbling thief posing as a detective. I also enjoyed Luke Wilson as his affable, clean-cut partner. It is nice to see Wilson in a rather normal part. The music in this film is a plus too. See it, it's not to hard to like.
Slow Burn (2000)
Film Reflection
The reason I rented this film was because it featured James Spader. However, after watching it I would say Mr. Brolins performance deserves far more kudos. Overall, the film was so-so. The plot was a tad shaky and not layered out very well. Minnie Driver did a good job of looking haggard and perplexed but her role did not require much else. Spader was fine but his accent drove me mad. It was a funky cross between a man with a frog in his throat and a fellow from New Jersey. Despite the lackluster pace of the film I enjoyed every minute that featured Duster(Brolin). He played his character with depth and was convincing. I really liked that he had a special protection feeling for the bird, that was sweet. Overall though, this film was pretty shoddy and could have been a way better piece than it was.
The Music of Chance (1993)
Film Reflection
Blah, I don't really know what to say about TMOC. I suppose Patinkin did a good job with the material he had. He at least made his character semi-likeable as opposed to the other characters. I just don't know about that Spader's performance. He is a great actor but I enjoy him so much more when he is clean shaven, crew-cutted, and without a horrible, cringe-inducing accent. As for the creepy large guy and skinny guy, what was up with them? The whole plot seemed far-fetched and (SPOILER AHEAD) one of the main characters dies and the movie just flatters from thenceforth. Also, that whole part (SPOILER AHEAD) with Patinkin and the car crash, was that supposed to be his closure? This movie was just not sure what it wanted to be and that ended up killing it.
Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989)

Was not sure what to expect. I think Andie M and James S gave brilliant performances and one couldn't enjoy watching them more. Andi as Ann did a great job of seeming lost yet strong. Spader as Graham gave me the chills, he was so vulnerable, open, and endearing. I loved how he refused to hide his true persona. As for L. San Giacomo she was alright, worked well with the material she had, ditto for Gallagher as Jon. See this first Sodebergh film and you won't be disappointed.
