Anyone But You (2023)
When I tried to enjoy the beautiful scenery, a horrible movie got in the way
Horrendous script, abysmal acting. The entire premise is stupid and could've all been cleared up with simple, honest, open, adult communication. Instead, everyone has to act like childish fools. It does make sure to click all the DEI boxes-including bashing the older generation, portraying them as doddering, obsequious dunderheads-so rest easy knowing this lemon is "approved." The location is, however, beautiful, hence the two stars. Too bad it came attached to a garbage dump of a movie. What a waste of talent of the actors who could actually act, but decided to leave their thespian chops at the door (namely Brian Brown, Rachel Griffiths, Dermot Mulroney, Glen Powell). All the other "actors" couldn't make it in a high school drama class. Same goes for the script which sounds like it was taken from random Instagram memes.
Ferrari (2023)
ZZZZ so dull, nothing happens
How did this get such good reviews? It's a very well-made film with nice performances. However, Adam Driver, a tall, strapping lad of 40, is a strange choice to play Ferrari, who was short, pudgy and pushing 60, when the events in the movie took place. The problem is that nothing happens, or the pacing and passionless writing of it doesn't seem like it does. If this was supposed to be a movie of Ferrari's internal struggle, none of that came through. It was just events happening. I'm not a fan or racing, but I don't think that matters, as there isn't that much racing in the film. It's just a mediocre film.
Creed III (2023)
ZZZZ Dull, Cliché-Ridden, Paint-by-Numbers, Predictable, Bland
How did this get such good reviews? It's unoriginal, unimaginative and adds nothing new or even interesting to movies. What's the point? It's like the writers copy and pasted every boxing script, mixed it with a typical Hollywood plot, and just came out with this one. Completely predictable, I knew exactly what was going to happen and how it would end. No surprises, no pulled-punches. It's like the writers didn't even try to come up with something original, or maybe they knew the public has low standards and will lap up any swill out there. The first two Creed movies were very good but this isn't. All the characters have zero personality and were one-dimensional. This is one movie you'll forget about almost immediately, thankfully.
So Dumb It's Criminal: Hosted by Snoop Dogg (2022)
The Truth is in the Title
The show is so dumb it is criminal. It's a bad show. I was looking forward to this, as the premise is good: watching dumb criminals being critiqued by comedians. But these "comedians" are not funny, and Snoop is pretty much stoned throughout, sleepwalking his way to another paycheck. And what's with the DJ? It makes no sense to have her there serving up videos. I only gave it three stars due to the premise. Other than that it's a 1-star show. What garbage will PeacockTV come up with next?
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Che cazzo?! Why must everything have race in it?
What was this supposed to be other than yet another movie to appease the woke mafia? The race stuff is irrelevant to the storyline and took away from the Sopranos narrative, which could've been so much better. The performances were good, the production design was excellent, but the story was weak. I almost feel like the producers just made a race movie in the guise of a Sopranos prequel. I should've read the reviews before watching. I figured with the 6.9 rating it must be good, but I was wrong.
