Deadgirl (2008)
No Spoilers Maybe but just Disgusting and Nasty Subject Matter
I don't know what the other posters meant by a look into psyche or whatever but this movie was disgusting and very dark-mentally. While I'm not going to give any spoilers, the plain line was this movie was about two deranged teens wanting to rape a girl and then told their friends. Any girl really, she just happened to be a dead, moving, dirty, one, yuck. I love a good horror flick with dead people chasing you and some bloody gore (you know entertainment) but this was a filthy, gross movie (Luckily I only watched part of it). It wasn't about the deadgirl really-just the guys blabbing (how is this considered horror?). This is necrophilia and not a stretch of the imagination. And they wonder why we have rapists and molesters in droves. What a load of sicko crap and why is this on the Chiller channel, it wasn't horror or scary just nasty.
The Santa Suit (2010)
Love me some Kevin Sorbo!
While this is nothing new about using a sort of a "George Bailey / Scrooge" outline for the story, its nice to see it in a new concept. Rich greedy CEO gets a new outlook on life. Of course it doesn't hurt that Kevin Sorbo is the hunk of a CEO. Although he is a little bland in the beginning he comes out of his uneasiness to embrace his role as Santa. I thought this would be a "boo-hoo save the little poor kid movie" and I wasn't about to watch it. But I was dying to see a new Christmas movie and this one turned out surprisingly good. No matter how mean they try to make Kevin Sorbo he always comes across as super nice though. The supporting cast was okay. Of course there are a few teary scenes but all in all it was a fun movie.
Friends (1979)
Totally Retro !
I remember this show too and I was around 12 or 13 when it came out. I was barely in high school. Not into boys yet either but the one thing I know I remembered was the "Love Boat" girl was on it. It was such a cute show and although I can't remember the episodes too well, I do remember the title and that 3 kids were hanging out together. I think this came out right after the "James at 15" series. The 70s had such great kid's shows especially the "ABC Afterschool Specials". Another thing is they had great kid's shows on the weekends like "Banana Splits" and "H.R. PuffNStuff". Too bad they don't make kid's shows the way they used to. They are not as innocent and family friendly. Totally retro, loved it!
The Thomas Crown Affair (1968)
Great McQueen Movie
I love Steve "cool" McQueen. He was a little before my time but his movies rock. In this movie I like the fact that he was such a mystery even when cornered. While I did like the trendy new one with Pierce Brosnan, McQueen added a more "manly" appeal to his role. Brosnan cuts a more elegant figure. In this version McQueen kept Dunaway at arms length but let her believe she was in control. I think in both versions the women fell really hard for the Millionaire and were similar almost to their endings. The 60s version also had lots of angles for some scenes but the plot had more wordplay, no sex (suggestive) but lots of sexual tension. Older movies have better story lines anyway, they don't rely so much on sex to carry the movie. Love the movie and Steve McQueen (he was a hunk too)! I would recommend it for a Saturday night.
