Wo Yao Ni Feng Qu (2023)
Realistic and logical drama about investment
I recently watched this drama based on a friend's recommendation. The two model-like main leads (Simon Gong and Elaine Zhong) are quite eye-catching. The plots of the first few episodes are very engaging and at fast-paced. I particularly enjoyed the last ten episodes because the plot is very attractive and atypical, unlike the conventional love relationship found in other c-dramas. The casting for "Rising With The Wind" is very good. The male lead Simon Gong's face, figure, and demeanor all resemble that of an investment banking elite. The female lead Elaine Zhong plays a character who lacks of business experience but refuses give up very well.
As someone who works in the financial industry, I found this storyline very realistic and logical. Audiences who aren't familiar with the investment industry will gain knowledge by watching this drama.
Jin Tian De Ta Men (2024)
Great drama
C-dramas using dialects are uncommon. Most of the first few episodes are in Sichuan dialect and I found it interesting to hear the actors speak Sichuan dialect, which attracted me to keep watching.
The cast of this drama is awesome. They all have excellent acting. I espcially like Zhang Guoli (Chef Gu) and Liang Qingran (Charmaine Sheh); I am very moved by their charaters. Sheh is a great actress and I was pleasantly surprised that she did the dubbling with her own voice.
The storyline is interesting and I like the fact that bad karma comes back to those who use malicious tactics. The most inspiring thing is that the three girls make up for each other's deficiencies and become better versions of themselves.
Barbie (2023)
Great acting, worth watching
I gave the acting a 10-star and the story a 6-star, thus overall rating is 8-star. I think Gosling did an excellent job playng Ken. I've always found Gosling a versatile actor and his acting in Barbie is truly amazing. Ken is a totally different role from Gosling's previous roles. He looks and behaves exactly like Ken. I also love his song "I'm just ken", which is very brainwashing.
It's an entertaining and easy to watch movie. However, it isn't deep enough. The theme of Barbie is about feminism but I don't get anything substantial out of it. I quite like the inspirational message in the end though - leave the ideal space, confront yourself with the unknowingness of everyday life, find your own value.
