Malignant (2021)
A solid 80's throwback
A solid 80s throwback, with a twist that's fairly predictable if you've ever seen any old school horror movies, but I was always amazed by the choreography, atmosphere, and face it, this movie was a blast from start to finish. It was a hell of a lot of fun.
Lovecraft Country: Full Circle (2020)
Incredibly let down
I would argue the last episode was a better season finale then this. That left me with almost no interest in seeing where the show goes next. Shame, I really did like this show quite a bit.
Lovecraft Country: Meet Me in Daegu (2020)
Where has this been?
This was by far the best episode of the season so far. Where has this energy, writing and directing been? The pacing was perfect, the directing was perfect, the atmosphere was spot on. I don't see any faults here.
Lovecraft Country: Holy Ghost (2020)
Definitely a step up
Far better then last episode. My only real problem from this show stems from the fact of how disjointed a lot of the scenes feel from one another. I don't know if that's down to the direction, or the writing, but it seemed better this episode. On the right track.
Game of Thrones: Book of the Stranger (2016)
Dani takes over another army without breaking a sweat!
I'm getting rather tired of this. There comes a point when a character gets so unstoppable and powerful that it becomes a boring slug, and that's exactly where Dani's story has gone. I'm getting quite tired of Dani seemingly being unstoppable, unflappable and un-killable. At this point I'll even put money on the fact that when the show does end (Please be soon, because at this point I just want my pain to end) she will be the victor, and how might this come about you ask?
She'll simply say a few lines in a monologue and do something completely nonsensical and kill what ever other characters are still in the running in one fell swoop the same way she always has. Something or someone needs to make Dani take a step back and realize she's not all powerful, it's becoming boring.
Game of Thrones: The Red Woman (2016)
Ugh
With 6.1 Game of Thrones has officially gotten to the point where I feel like everything has screeched to a halt. The first few seasons of the show were some of the best television ever made, and with S5 and from the looks of the first episode of this season the formula is getting stale. We get 40 minutes per episode of nothing happening followed by 5 minutes of mediocre ending with 2 minutes of excellent.
With only 1 good episode per season since 4 I'm beginning to feel like watching this show is nothing but a chore. Not to mention the glaring continuity errors and plot holes this one episode had. Game of Thrones, you used to be good. What happened?
