Hilarious....but in no way good!
3 September 2008
Rented this on the advice of "You'll love it". This was obviously for the comedy. I've never laughed that much in my life. There is nothing WHATSOEVER frightening about the 'Mummy' (who looks suspiciously like a fat man wrapped in toilet roll) and the acting is terrible. The plot is dull and the sets (well, set, as there is only one) are cardboard-like. I won't even begin on the continuity, just think magically disappearing blood and you have the start of it. Add to this the usual sprinkling of stereotype teenagers, some voodoo magic, dodgy costumes and, voilà!

However I would watch this again just to see the slowest, least frightening Mummy in history stalking his victims with a rubber knife. This film is great...if you want to cry with laughter!

Am I missing something?

Warning: Spoilers
Having read some of the reviews on here, I would have been lead to believe that this is the best Zombie movie ever. I love Zombie films, so was looking forward to some gory goodness....however I was disappointed. I totally lost what fragment of a plot there was within minutes. More and more totally irrelevant and somewhat useless plot lines were thrown in. Zombies not enough for you? Fine have some aliens. And some meteors, And a giant prickly wall. And some unlikeable characters. And some flashbacks of Zombie fish. And a somewhat strange space scene. The list could go on.

Maybe I am being unfair...there were some REALLY good gore shots, and the FX weren't all that bad. I just couldn't follow the story at all, and I tried! Add the fact that the acting was pretty poor and it felt overlong and it doesn't bode well.

Overall, an idea I want to like, but the awful plot really lets it down.
