Schindler's List (1993)
good... but not great
in all fairness this film is in my top 100, it is moving, chilling and all in all a good film, 7 out of 10.
But Why is it so people seem to think this is one of the best films ever made, it probably doesn't come in my top 50 films. Heavily Over rated, there seems to be a lack of something, which I can't seem to figure out. The plot is quite hard to get into, made harder by the fact the film was shot in black and white, for no reason. It does not add to the mood, look at Shawshank for example, the most moving film ever and that was shot in colour. Spielberg has got it wrong, improving the mood, you don't need film noir... he was just trying to save money.
If you got three hours spare watch it, but at three hours it is a long time, and it is one of those movies where you can end up checking your watch every 20 minutes, if you are not fully focused.
A good film, but if you like this emotion filled war epic, I would recomend 'the deer hunter' rather than Schindlers List.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
one word.... EPIC
The only word that can describe the film, gigantic, wild, beyond belief. The story is great and the film is even better. The finest of the three films, over the past two films you have got to see the characters and now they have grown on you in the final chapter.
The Music as always is fantastic and sets the scene. Along with great sets, backgrounds, props, and above all the acting.
Peter Jackson, has accomplished is main aim, to do justice to the book, and to make the film seem real. And it does, at every step of the way, you feel like you are there in the world of middle earth.
I am sure you will all see it, without reading this, but even if you didn't like the first two, you will surely like this, even if it is only for the fighting scenes, which, to be honest, make the battle at helms deep seem like a joke.
This really is one of the top 10 films ever made
Steve Coogan: The Man Who Thinks He's It (1998)
It's Hilarious
Possibly the funniest show I have ever seen. All characters are great and there isn't A moment when when you aren't laughing
This is, in short a masterpiece of British comedy - An absolute must for any Coogan fan, or any true fan of comedy.
Tron (1982)
When I wasn't sleeping I was laughing....
however there was not one joke in the film, I was laughing at a pathetic atempt at a film. I know it was 20 years ago, and SFX sucked but please... they look amazingly unrealistic in a King Kong sense. It may have been an important step forward in SFX but in reality this film is a pathetic joke. I always was forced to watch this stupid movie until I learned all the words:
"Tron, Tron, Where are you?" "I'm in the computer"
Very nice
Yes I fell asleep once or twice but then again I don't think I was missing much apart from a few guys jumping around and throwing things, there was a bit where they were racing on these little electric bikes in this little microchip thing. Was there really a point? If you have ever played on a game called halflife:ricochet you may see that they copy this idea, and yet people wonder why it is the most unpopular game in the world.
In short this film has a very thin plot, without a doubt the worst special effects with relation to the period in time and these actors (if they say they are actors) make a mockery of SI-FI films. However the film did come in handy as I always use it as a coffee coaster when friends come round.
Thankyou for reading and I am wishing you good luck buying any other films (including spice girls the movie) in preference of this film.
