Condescending vegan
5 November 2011
I've only seen this show a couple of times and I already dislike it. This chick has a bad attitude. She actually said "duh" after saying everyone should buy organic food. She goes on and on about natural living and the horror of pesticides but she's got a mess of fake orange hair on her head. She may not like to eat chemicals but she has no problem marinating her head in them. And speaking of her hair, I find it very unappetizing that she stirs batter with that long hair hanging over the bowl. Why doesn't she wear a ponytail or a chef's hat?

Besides all that, her cooking isn't especially interesting. She thinks people are going to eat fried vegetables and tofu for breakfast. Yuck. Almost every show has her flinging random vegetables into a stirfry. She has no imagination. And if she's a vegan, why is she so dumpy and out of shape?

I couldn't even watch it

Warning: Spoilers
My daughter asked if I would watch this with her and so I tried. After the first contestant, the obnoxious little girl who wants a bathroom to herself, came out and sang half off key I was sure the judges would send her away. Instead they proclaimed her a superstar and I thought, oh shizzle, this is going to be a bomb.

The so-called behind the scenes whispers (fully miked, of course) are lame and turgid at the same time. Paula Abdul pretends she's going to be sick when the hermaphrodite flashes them! Now that's quality TV! The talent contest genre jumped the shark ages ago. I don't know how many more of these boring, repetitive shows America can suck up. We reached the saturation point long ago.
