War of the Worlds (2005)

Good, not extraordinary

I heard a lot of praise done to this movie, so I decided to rent it, because I hadn't seen it in cinema when it was showed. The truth is, that it is not the best movie of it's kind, though, at some parts it is quite gripping. Of course, Cruise, the big savior, Dakota Fanning doing a pretty good role, yet I do not believe she will raise to be a real star, mostly because she can only be seen acting only a single type of roles, and those are of the heartless child, very mature one. I haven't read H.G.Wells' novel, so I can not make a comparison on that term. Anyway, the movie was good, but not extremely good. I mean, there were parts which I really wanted to skip. This is a movie I wouldn't like to see the second time, but it wasn't very bad after all.

The Death of Mr. Lazarescu (2005)

A stroke of genius.

I don't know what captured me from the very first minute of this movie, but it certainly was a stroke of a genius. The most accurate portrayal of Romania and its medical system, that has many of the carachteristics presented by Cristi Puiu. I recommend this movie to absolutely anyone, but beware that you will not find it neither funny, neither action filled, yet it will thrill one thousand times more that The Ring and it will make you more sad than Titanic ever did. And if you think that something like that, in your country would never happen, well, maybe it's true, but sadly as it sounds there is a county in which all of what you have seen does happen. I believe this is the best film ever produced in Romania, and Cristi Puiu is the new Sergiu Nicolaescu of Romanian cinematography.

Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)

Interesting Enough

When I saw the title of the SF movie I was gonna see in that afternoon on HBO I didn't think I'll stick to it, it's not that I didn't like the Star Trek series, but I heard only bad things about the motion pictures.

But, I said I'd take a chance. and I really found it to be interesting enough. Jean Luc Picard was exceptional, as always, playing the Capitan of the enterprise, a ship that never seizes to amaze me. Also, very well manufactured special effects, very impressing.

So, I think not even the series made me feel like this motion picture did, that is it was very touching in the end;

Very well-contoured characters, whit deep personalities, and a very nice plot, and great actors also. Still, there could be more, but it's like ten times more than I had expected.

It's 8/10 from me.

Mean Girls (2004)

Funny, yet not so original.

I must say that I didn't expect much out of a movie orientaded mainly at girls. I was wrong. The movie is particularly good, with a great act from Lindsay lohan, showing us, yet again, that she is one of the best, if not the best American teen actress. Teen Choice Awards prooved that. The idea aof the movie was not new, but it was pretty good put in pley. Mark Waters did a very good job, still Freaky Friday seems to be a better movie. I also enjoyed Ana Gasteyer's perfomance that was very good. Linsay Lohan looks better than ever in this picture, yet she seems to be playing the same kind of roles in all her movies. Yet, if compared to Hillary Duff, she does a better job. Anyway, overall a very good movie.

The Princess Diaries (2001)

Cool movie - great plot

This is one of the few movies that really made me meditate of my own life, and the invisibility around me. I think that Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews are the coolest grandaughter-grandmother couple I've ever seen - Julie Andrews being such a great actress, and Hathaway being so beautiful. Lame acting for Lana - whoever interprets her - doesn't look like a real spoilt brat - See Freaky Friday's spoilt brats for more. Anyway, cool, great movie with a superb plot - can't wait for part 2. I give it a 10. The love story between the two characters - Mia and Michael was so nice, and the line "You saw me when I was invisible" was sooooo cool.

Bicentennial Man (1999)

Great movie!

Exccelent! Just great. i can't think of words that would describe this masterpiece. Imust say that this is by far one of the best movies I've ever seen. Great script, great plot, great actors. Robbie Williams really knew how to do his job, portraying the robot in a manner noone elese could of have done. And the film's music is a great one too, Celine Dion being the best singer that could've been credited for it. BRAVO!

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003)

Bad movie, still good bits

Somebody said it was the worst comedy ever. I don't agree. should watch Police Academy 6 first, that's the worst comedy ever, but this should get into IMDb bottom 250. I mean, first never in real life could this happen, the script is trash-worthy, and most of actors really suck. Still, I really laughed at some bits of it, like the one when the dogs show up to be gay, but the movie ain't that good. Watch a real comedy, like The Parent Trap or Freaky Friday. 6/10 for Legally Blonde 2.

The Firm (1993)

Good movie, but Cruise not so good!

the Firm was one good movie, but I may say that I dislike Tom Cruise. He just didn't seem right to play in this movie, and there are some people that agree with me. Anyway, the film was good, the plot was intriguing and I may say That Grisham is a great writer, and any movies done on any of his books are great. The Client is another one. Anyway, the rating would be 8/10.

Get a Clue (2002 TV Movie)

Great one!

Being the biggest Lindsy Lohan fan I will always say good words about all her movies, including this one. The script was pretty good, although it could have been better. Even with this Lindsay did an admirable job interpreting Lexy Gold. So, I don't think it's necessary to tell here about the action, but I can say that the end of the film is very surprising, and, so I really enjoyed it, with a little question for the writer. Do you think that this is possible in real life? I don't think so. Anyway, great movie. Good work Lindsay! 10/10

Bruce Almighty (2003)

Think twice before saying that your life sucks

This movie was a great one, first of all because of its actors. I especially enjoyed Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Ann Walter. Actually the idea is one that I haven't seen very often in movies, and is portreyed extraordinary by Jim. I must say that this is one of the best films of the year. Because I live in Romania I will have to wait till december for the release of Freaky Friday, which I believe will be a blockbuster. Anyway, Bruce Almighty, gets 9/10 from me. Great one!

Contact (1997)

The best SF movie of the 90's

I have seen this movie on a warm August night, and it was absolutley touching. Judie Foster really knew how to to her job. This is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and I must say that the script was genial. Besides from being a SF movie this movie opens up another dimension this is religion and focuses onto it. In the end dr. Arroway realises that people that DO believe in God have no proof of his existence as she doesn't have ay proof of beeing in a worm-hole. Anyway, great movie, 10/10.

Notting Hill (1999)

A very good movie to with a great plot

It's the dream of everybody to be able to meet a TV-star, a huge star and even to fall in love with that person and make that person fall in love with you. This film made me think about it twice. It was a great plot, although it sometimes lacked something, but I am not sure what. Julia Roberts made a great role with this as she posed for a big actress. Nevertheless, the movie was sometime exciting, although some goofs were made. All inall it's a good movie, and should be watched by the entire family.

Race to Space (2001)

A very nice movie - a very interesting message

I only have to say good worlds about this movie. i think it really portrays the way that some people rally acted back then when the space race had just begun. It was a start for people to hate each other and for americans to think that they are the ultimate nation. I rally think Hollywood is payed by the US government to portray in their movies the gratness of America and how America is the best country in the whole world. This movie wanted to show another aspect of it, but way at a smaller scale, putting it in a comedy with a monkey and a boy. I really must advise you to watch this movie, because it sends a message that few movies still send. My raiting for it (9/10).

Skipped Parts (2000)

Absolutley Great

It was one of the best movies I have ever seen, it just made me feel like I did when I was 14. It musn't be spoilt with more than 4 rows. It's just great!!! A must see movie for every one of you who wants to go back to his youth (if he ever had one)

A pretty good film, I really loved the cast rather than the scrispt, so I think that it's worth watching, especially when Lindsay Lohan stars in it. My second comment is that I didsn't really enjoy the script. It was quite childish. But, the rest was great.

Coyote Ugly (2000)

A must-see movie for peple who like music very much

This movie had the best sound track I have ever seen. Also, I believe that Piper Pearsbo was a great actress. The script was a little dumb, but because of the sound track I have watched it for 6 times. A must-see movie for peple who like music very much. 9/10, in my opinion.

We Were Soldiers (2002)

It is probably the best war-movie I have seen.

A film about the Vietnam war, and more about the people who have fought there. A great script for the movie, ust a little dumb in some scenes, which can be stepped over, but, a good movie after all. I really enjoyed spending the 2 hours and a quarter in the theatre to see this great film. Mel Gibson really does his job very well, and I advise you to see the movie as soon as you can. It is probably the best war-movie I have seen.

Stuart Little 2 (2002)

A great movie. Good family entertainment.

A great film, and Ibelive that it was just as good as Stuaart Little, being one of the few sequels that are as good as the original. Again a beautifull fairy-tell for the hole family. The story is about Stuart Little, the nice family mouse that finds a girlfriend, a little bird, that isn't what she really seems to be. But I won@t spoil you. Just see the film. One of the best things of this movie was also the soundrack. A multitude of songs. The best one was Celine Dion's single I'm Alive. My raiting for the movie was 9/10, because it couldn't rise to the quality of films like Jungle2Jungle, My Girl 2, or The Parent Trap. Stil, a must see movie.

Men in Black II (2002)

Yet, I hade some fun watching it, just for the sake of it.

Not the best film I've seen, not the worst. I may say though, that it didn't worth the money I've payed at the cinema. Will Smith was the best actor in the film and I may say that the rest weren't so brilliant. The plot was absolutley pathetic, and now I reliza that 7/10 is still a big grade for the movie. Yet, I hade some fun watching it, just for the sake of it.

My girl 2 Anna Chlumsky has made us regret that in her carrier till now has only played in 6 movies.

It was one of the best movie I have ever seen. Prbably the man who did the script was a genius. And Anna Chlumsky has made us regret that in her carrier in her life has only played in 6 movies. I sure wish to se her in more than that. She really showed the audience that you don't have to be an adult to be able to act extremley good. She somehow resembles to Lindsay Lohan in The Parent Trap (check it out). Anyway the movie which I absolutley reccomend you to see is about a girl, Vada Sultenfuss, who has to do a report on somebody she never met. While her colleagues choose Elvis and other personalities from public Vada wants to do a report about her mother, who she never met. Meanwhile, at home her step-mother is preagnant and will soon give birth. Vada doesn't know almost anything about her mom and so she wants to find more. Shelly (Jamie Lee Curtis), her step-mom proposes for her a vacation. Without her father knowing she buys a ticket and has to go Los Angeles, to his uncle Phil where her mother was born to find out more.

In the airport she is picked by a boy named Nick, who turns out to be the son of Phil's fiance. From here the two of them start a road that leads them to Vada's mother, and finally to love. The two fall in love, and in the end, they kiss. A very optimistical ending for the film, but we regret that there is no My girl 3. I must say that this is few of the movies I award 10/10. The others are The parent Trap and Jungle 2 Jungle. Be sure to watch them both.

Scooby-Doo (2002)

Ronan Atkinson at last revealed us his real voice.

A great comedy, agood script, but not such a good movie. I have seen it, I liked it, but yet it was not so brilliant. The character, Scooby was a great one and Ronan Atkinson at last revealed us his real voice. Mystery Inc. split up, and then regrouped. I have seen a couple of times the cartoons and I may say that the movie wasn't as good as the cartoons. I casted a VOTE 7/10 FOR THE FILM, AND i MAY SAY THAT IT WASN'T THAT BAD.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

I've seen this movie alot of times and I really enjoyed it. I am not starting to tell it's plot 'cause everybody knows it. I only wanna say that I think that Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) was the best actress in the movie, and I really don't think that Radcliffe was the right man for Potter's role. I really think that it could of been done better, but than I do not complain about anythin and I absaolutley wanna see the second part

Trial by Media (2000 TV Movie)

Try to see this movie. It's a very good one.

A great movie about how tiny things in private life can influence somebody's public life. Chirstine Lahti plays the role of the daughter of a senator that is nominated for the post of minister of health. On a television talk show it is revealed that in the past she misplaced a jury citation and did not announce anybody about it. A mEdia Trial starts from this thing, and probably every clitch in American governmental system is shown here. Try to see this movie. It's a very good one. 8/10

My Girl (1991)

A film about love as high as can get.

I have seen a trailer of the film on a television in my country and I said to give it a look. And I was completley astonished by what I have seen. A great movie about a girl (Anna Chumsky) who is obssesed with death, being sure that by her beeing born her mother dyed. her best friend Thomas J. dyes in an accident just hours after their first kiss. A love story terminated in childhood. A film about love as high as can get. And when people say that love between children is the only true love, they are right. A must-see movie for whoever wants to remember their first kiss, their first love, or only wants to spend some quality time.

Noro (2002)

Good script, bad transcript

Noro is a story about a boy that cannot adapt to the outer world being handicapped. The plot is excellent, yet the director did not to a good job putting this movie on TV. Bad sound, and worse colour. You may want to see this movie but my advise is to not.
