Demon's Souls (2009)
You will die!
Aside from your untimely death being a part of the excellent storyline (which if you are good enough you can prolong for a short period of time whilst becoming a tad richer in the process), you will find that this game is very unforgiving of any (and I do mean ANY) mistake, and so before long you will be pushing up daisy's like there's no tomorrow. Don't let this put you off though, as if you are able to learn by your mistakes I can guarantee that with a little dogged determination you will progress slowly through the game, and before long will be pulling off moves that will leave you feeling like the greatest Adventurer that has ever lived!
With this in mind, I urge you all NOT to be put off by the supposed difficulty of this game, as this is IMHO probably the finest RPG that has ever been written and is without a shadow of a doubt an absolute must for every PS3 owner out there.
One final point of note, to get the most out of this game you really do need to play it on-line (logged onto a PSN account), as this little gem brings on-line gaming to an all new level.
Streets of Fire (1984)
PURE CLASS!!!
Right, let's get one thing straight. This is, and I quote- 'a Rock & Roll fable'. Therefore, do not go watching it thinking that you are going to see something real-to-life, or that it contains Oscar winning dialogue. This film, to coin a well known phrase in the U.K.- 'Does exactly what it says on the tin!', and does it, in my humble opinion, better than the best of the rest.
Streets of Fire is pure escapist fun, with one hell of kicking sound-track, by Jim Steinman, Ry Cooder, et-all. What more do you want?

Unbreakable (2000)
Good, but needs some effort to watch!
After seeing the 6th sense, I'll admit I had some reservations about watching this film (hence the reason why, I have literally only just gotten around to doing so). After all, the 6th sense was, in my humble opinion, bloody great! So, there was no way on Earth, that this was ever going to top that! Right?
Well, yes, unfortunately it does not!
Don't get me wrong, this is a very good movie, with an interesting plot-line, that is well told, well acted, and has an unpredictable/surprise ending.
However, it is, without a shadow of a doubt, too slow in pace. This will, no doubt, put most people off when they go to watch it. Which is a bit of a shame, really? Because, if you are prepared to tolerate this, then you do ultimately get rewarded with a very good ending.
In short. I like this one, but only just.
7.5/10

Foul Play (1978)
Gloria Mundy, I love you!
Right, just for a change, I have decided to review a film that I didn't originally see on my Mum and Dad's old Phillips V2000 Video player. Instead, I saw this one on the first weekend (a Saturday to be precise), when it went on general release throughout the U.k's Cinema's, and, once again, it left it's mark.
You see, being around eleven years old, at that time, with certain manly feelings (no doubt, you get my drift) beginning to arise (no pun intended), I found myself falling bang, head over heals in love/lust with Goldie Hawn (after seeing her for the first time in this film).
She was then, still is, and, no doubt, always will be, a BABE! Added to which, she's not a bad Actress, either!
For me, 1978 was an awesome year, especially where Films are concerned. I mean, so far I have taken the time to review just three films for the IMDB (The Silent Partner, The Fury, and this one), and all three were released during this year.
Strange how puberty can have such an effect on a young man's out-look on life, isn't it?
Anyway, this aside, what do I actually think of the Film itself?
I LOVE IT!
It's funny, intense, exciting... In short, I find it a pure joy to watch, and some! In fact, it's pure class (of a 1970's style).
Most notable, aside from Chase and Hawn that is, are Dudley Moore's excellent portrayal of an English Swinger in 1970's San Francisco (Stanley Tibbets); Billy Barty's unfortunate J.J.MacKuan (the scene where he gets seven shades beaten out of him by Hawn's Gloria, after she mistakes him for someone else, is, without a doubt, one of the funniest ever put to film); the old Japanese couple in the back seat of the Limo, as Chase and Hawn race to get to the Opera house; and not forgetting the two old ladies, playing a very dodgy game of Scrabble in their Apartment.
I could go on for hours about this film, but I wont. Instead, I'll just say do what ever you need to, to see it. Beg, borrow, steal (Uh... perhaps you shouldn't go that far) a copy if you have to! But see it, you must!
Trust me, you wont regret doing so, and remember...
Beware the Dwarf!!!
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
The best Family/Feel-good movie ever made!
Right, as I write this there are EIGHTY shopping days (not including Sundays) left until Christmas!
What a depressing thought, eh?
Anyway, with this in mind, I have decided to submit my review of the, and I do mean- 'THE', best Family/Feel-good Movie ever made...
Frank Capra's: It's a wonderful Life.
(Added to which, it is, by far and away, my personal all-time favorite.)
Many, many words (not all complimentary) have been written about this Classic Yuletide tale, so what makes mine any different from the rest?
In truth, probably nothing! But by damn it, I'll have my say! You hear?
This Film is a Classic, of a by-gone time, where life seemed so much more innocent, than it does today, and boy does it show! Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad thing. Not by a long-shot! In fact, it is this overwhelming sence of innocence, which gives the Film it's undeniable charm. That, at it's best, can melt the coldest of Hearts! No small wonder then, that, after a decidedly shaky beginning, this Film has been consistently voted as America's all-time favorite Movie, and one of the best Film's ever made. To which, I whole-heartedly concur.
Best seen with all your family around, during the Festive season, this Film, in my humble opinion, can NOT be beat, and will ALWAYS be, as far as I'm concerned, the TOPS!
"That-a-boy Clarence!"
The Fury (1978)
Brian De Palma, you're a bl**dy genius!
A true Classic, of 1970's Cinema, and some!
That is the best way that I can begin to describe this, one of my all-time favorite Movies.
Once again, I first saw this Movie on my Mum and Dad's old Phillips V2000, when it was first released onto the U.K's Home Cinema market (hired from a seedy old Video rental shop on the Woolworth road), and boy did it leave it's mark!
In short, I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
O.k. At times the story, does tend to plod along at an almost snail's pace. But this is really a small price to pay for the Film's wonderfully inspired set pieces. Which, when they come, seem to hit you with the force of a speeding freight-train! In fact, just writing this review makes the hairs on the back of my neck tingle! As I remember each, and everyone of them. With such crystal clear clarity, that you would think I had only just finished watching the Film, for the umpteenth time! Truth is, it has now been about a year, since I last saw it!
Boy, doesn't time fly, when you're having fun!
If you've seen this Film before, no doubt, you'll have your own views on it, and so don't need me to tell you how good/bad it is!
However, if you haven't...
Trust me, when I say that this Film is a Classic, of the HIGHEST magnitude, and that it would be an absolute crime for you not to see it!
The Silent Partner (1978)
One of the best!
I remember watching this little gem on me Ma & Pa's ol' V2000, when it was originally released onto the U.K. Home Cinema market many moons back, and boy did it stick in my mind!
In a word, or two, this is a CLASSIC, of 1970's film-making, which seems to have sadly fallen along the way-side! Why this should be, is anyone's guess? As: -
a.) The performances of the three main leads, are almost faultless;
b.) The story is intelligent, and highly believable; and -
c.) The tension/suspense that the film's Director- Daryl Duke builds upon is almost too much to bare at times.
I live with the hope that maybe one day, some bright spark in a distribution company will re-discover this film, and release it on Dvd format, for a whole new generation to enjoy. But, sadly, this will probably never happen!
Still, I have my memories...
