Succumb to subtlety or miss out
3 February 2024
The uncanny capacity for longing subjugates most humans, and in some cultures makes them a relentless piece of commersial property. This music video defies stock narratives and stock ideas of courtship by asking the viewer to pay attention; at the very least surrender to the sublime imagery - albeit prowling - and admit that vulnerability without integrity is simple narcissism. If you can't accept pain as a part of life, then how do you expect to survive it? Power struggles, when honest, are reconstructive. The video clearly displays and kindly displaces a story of loss, longing, and the upfrontedness that your version of history is not necessarily the only one simply because your miss the time it took.

Boomers are gonna boom
13 December 2022
If you were 5, 10 or 15ish when the first season was aired - 25 years ago - you may feel a strange feeling called being "nostalgic" towards that old show that we - as emotionally formative children - enjoyed back then.

Being almost 30 years older will make this new show difficult to appreciate the same way. It will make the humor of that era - the one you lived in almost 30 years ago - seem like "better" humor, even "good" and this new era show "bad" and "lacking humor" even.

What you are forgetting, maybe not even able to realize despite your 25+ years of age, is that the original show was deemed very stupid by many of its time. That Homer Simpsons was smarter than Kenny. That there was no humor, only absurdities and children swearing.

This new show is as just as good. Just as clever. Just as funny. Even if non of us 25+ may think so.

Infantile propaganda smut
21 November 2022
"You must be a cynic to not love this" someone reviewed. On the contrary, some might say, "you must be a propaganda addled US citizen to love this". To hijack empathy glands is less of a sport and more a simple resort these days. The garbage dialogues masked as 'inspirational' by having "Won't threaten middle-US" toddlers lip-synch them are equally parts cherry on top and the mulch inside this artificial sundae.

There is no science here. There is no trajectory. There is no humanity, nor aspiration. Only smoke and mirrors - cardboard cut ones.

Don't drink this coolaid, keep taking normal breaths, stay baseline intelligent. Leave inspiration, hope and dreams to productions who deal in equal parts reality and wonder-that-will-be.

A study in how copy-pasting still can yield sub-zero quality

Embarrassing dialogue production. Horrid directing. A script that manages to plaster Hollywood-run-of-the-mill platitudes over real events and yet, fails on a tectonic level to even remotely deliver average viewing material?

Much like someone really hungry after a few mouthfuls sustenance would praise the chef, reviewers seem to have relished in the novelty of the subject of this story. Bit were they to rewatch the series - after actually have gone through the whole thing once - most would immediately notice the unnecessarily unnatural conversations that tarnishes the entire credibilty of any research and any care for insight in the actual story.
