Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008)
Worth the wait
I give this movie a 9 out of 10. Only because I had to wait for what seemed like forever to actually see it, and it could never beat the first one. However, it definitely doesn't suck. I don't want to give too much away, so I won't reveal any details, but I will say that the slaughter scenes are top notch. They blow the first, second and third versions out of the water, but they still give you that cheesy 80's feel. In fact, the entire movie does a great job in keeping in line with the original 80's "charm". The twist and the end is mostly predictable, but there are a few details of it that I didn't see coming. Over all i think the RTSC was worth the wait and it's worth seeing again.
Surfwise (2007)
Not really a surfer movie...
Surfing is not the main focus of this movie. This is a documentary about a family that fed up with the normal life that we all lead, packs up and takes it all on the road. The NINE kids are home schooled and taught to eat healthy, and live well. Yes, they all surf and this is a big part of their lives, but there is so much more to be told. I am impressed with the guts of this father. Leaving his life and career behind to better himself and his family, however unconventional, still very impressive. It teaches the lesson to follow your dream, even if the rest of the world thinks your nuts! And what better to teach your children then courage and confidence to do what is right for you. Very interesting story, you have to watch it!
Boarding Gate (2007)
twisted!
Pretty cool movie if your into twisted love stories/suspense. I wasn't sure what to expect from this one because I hadn't heard much about it in the media. When it came recommended by a friend I went and saw it, and man am I pleased I did! It has a crazy plot with lots of fun and shocking twists. The characters are beyond interesting and keep you on your toes. If any one has a love life like this, holy moly! Defiantly made for the big screen, not real life! I don't want to live it, but I loved to watch it! The movie itself was very esthetically pleasing as well, taking you around to beautiful places and showcasing some awesome scenery. Just as this film was recommended to me, I am recommending it to you! Enjoy!
The Signal (2007)
Freaky flick
Wow, this one really gets you! Possibly because it requires you to look so deeply into the story due to the fact that it is told in three parts from three different points of view. It is not difficult to follow, it just requires that you think while watching (we unfortunately are not required to do this too often I know, but you can do it! It's a nice change).
The story involves a signal that transmits through all electronic devices and causes all who see it to become crazy killers. It's really well done and does freak you out, but it's nicely balanced with a small amount of laughs and a pretty cool love story.
