Blood Runs Cold (2011)
Top-notch horror on a $5000.00 budget. High budget horror movies should feel ashamed!!
What the hell are high budget horror movies doing with the money?
This movie is allegedly created on a $5000.00 budget. It looks like anything but a low budget horror movie. The special effects astound you when considering the budget.
If you're looking for an atmospheric horror movie that gives you all the scares that you're longing for but not getting with the over-the-top gore fest horror movies hitting the theaters these days, you need to do yourself a favor and check this movie out.
The director has vision and talent and I'd definitely like to see what his genius comes up with on a higher budget.
While the movie is good, it isn't perfect. Most blood effects were good but some were just downright terrible. The actors were not the best and were killed off in order of acting ability from worst to best.
Also, the ending may disappointing some but just keep in mind what this movie was able to accomplish on a $5000.00 budget.
Clean House (2003)
Physical & Psychological Cleaning
I stumbled upon this show one Sunday while flipping through the channels.
I love the host and her crew. She's real and I applaud her for having one of the few reality-style shows that actually has sold meaning to it and really helps people.
Clean House gives families the incentive to make lifestyle changes. What I like a lot about the show is the fact that the families themselves work towards the end results. It's not like they sit back and have the crew clean and make over their homes.
Also, the families really are reaching out for help. You see how much a home can affect each member in that family and the variety of it does so.
I cried watching "Messiest Home" with the family from Illinois. You see people with real issues working towards solving those problems.
People tend to misunderstand the host and forget that she's a comedian first. She is straight up and will tell you like it is, and the folks she deals with on her show, need to hear it like it is.
I am not a fan of reality shows but I love Clean House.
Niecy gurl, keep doing your thang.
The Descent: Part 2 (2009)
Almost As Good As Part One
Where do I start? This movie takes you on a strange ride where you start feeling for characters as you watch them get killed off one by one.
This is a horror movie, so mentioning that characters get killed isn't a spoiler. Because the first part did very little wrong, mimicking it almost to a T in the second part still resulted in a very gripping, emotive ride that will leave you shaken in your seat as the credits roll up the screen.
With some unpredictable and unforgiving moments, The Descent: Part 2 is a definite hit and stands up very well to it's predecessor.
The Fourth Kind (2009)
A Must See!!
Though this movie wasn't what I expected, there are a few scenes that to this day still give me chills.
Think about The Exorcist done with Aliens/UFOs. Like The Exorcist, I don't think I can watch this one by myself.
One or two actors were a tad bit amateur in their acting but the video captured moments were very eerie and disturbing.
I recommend anyone who is into paranormal/ghost style horror movies to definitely check this one out. The video captured moments alone are worth it.
They are the scariest paranormal moments I've seen in a horror movie since The Exorcist.
This is what Paranormal Activity should have been!
The Crazies (2010)
A Just Above Average Horror Movie
This movie isn't bad but it's nothing ground breaking. It's worth going to the movies to watch but don't expect anything revolutionary in "The Crazies".
Though there was an abundance of close call moments in this movie, after a while they began to become predictable. This movie was also kinda unnecessarily drawn out.
I've noticed the different styles horror moves are using these days.
There is the gore, guts and savage violence style eg. Hostel and the Saw series. Then there is the spook you out, ghost/paranormal style eg Exorcist, Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Fourth Kind. And finally there is the "made you flinch" style eg. Final Destination series. The Crazies fits in with the "made you flinch" style.
The Midnight Meat Train (2008)
One of The WORST High-Budget Horror Films
The only good thing to this movie is the blood and gore. The movie starts off really well and then drops you and continues to do so till the credits are rolling up the screen and you're left wanting your money back.
To enjoy this movie, you have to accept that it's okay that the characters portray no type of logic whatsoever. When you see someone being killed and you go to one police officer to report it and he blows you off, you go to another right? Well in midnight meat train, when that happens you then assume the role of police officer yourself and pursue with the investigation.
The movie does have some good gory parts that compel you to sit through the nonsensical storyline. If you do intend to view this movie, you can wait for it to come out on DVD.
Halloween (2007)
What's Already Borken Is Broken Even More
The budget behind this film should have been donated to Sheri Moon Zombie so she could get some acting lessons. To watch her spill her lines is so painful. You just want to reach out and show her how it should be done.
Apart from that, the movie is average. A better movie could have been picked to remake. The concepts of reality don't really apply and I dear not go further in an attempt to not disclose any spoilers. Horror movies are rarely noted for their storyline but the good ones still try to maintain some level or reason. This movie goes wherever Rob Zombie's drug induced mind took him. Yes we know growing up with a hillbilly stripper single mom is a horror in it's self but get over your childhood Zombie!
You've seen this already with Jamie Lee Curtis and she did it better. Keep in mind that this is the 9th part to this series. Adding more blood and gore didn't help to improve it.
À l'intérieur (2007)
Not For Expecting Mothers
This movie shows how evil can be inventive and resourceful. You don't need a gun to kill, just enough evil intent and anything at your disposal becomes a tool of havoc.
A very dark and unforgiving movie that gives you what almost all American horror films never dear deliver; the ever so sharp double-edged sword of justice! It's realistic in a way that leaves you shaken in your seat as the credits roll by. If this movie was ever to be released in America, they'd seriously edit a lot of it and the ending would be changed to cushion the blow.
If you're looking for a horror movie that delivers something different but very gripping and effective, this is the one! If you're looking for an exquisite example of what a horror could be or should be, this is the one! A MUST SEE!!
The Curse of El Charro (2005)
Not Too Bad Depdending On How You View It
When I saw this movie, it struck me as more of a comedy with a horror ending hence the reason why I rated it a 4. If rated from the perspective of a horror, I give it a really generous 3. Most of the movie will make you laugh if you watch it without the expectation of it being a horror. The acting seems to be spitefully lame which adds to it's comedic effect. You need to be naive or really young to enjoy this as a horror. If you're looking for a good scare, THIS IS NOT THE MOVIE FOR YOU!!! If you're into cheesy horror films because you're bored and you need a good laugh, this would give Troll 2 serious competition. You'll laugh at the fact that someone made this movie and labeled it a horror.
