- Must move me in some way.
- Must be an original, new intuitive idea that either blows me away or surprises me.
- Must be a beautiful story that captures my love of stories.
- Must have great or original technicals, cinematography, score, sound, acting, etc...
*Disclaimer, no film actually warrants a 10/10 rating because there has never been and will never be a perfect film, but rating films on IMDb is simply a good system of organizing films into quality categories.
I have 75 films in my rated 9 category atm, these would complete my top 100

Inception (2010)
Nolan Gives Us Hope for the Future of Film Making
To start, Nolan is one of my favorite modern directors since he doesn't care about the audience. He makes a film for the sake of making a film, and the art of the film. This is how films used to be made and unfortunately Hollywood has destroyed this and now is pumping out crap like avatar. There were certainly some things Inception lacked in making it a top of the line film, however with the resources Nolan had to work with I believe the film is the best it could've been. I wouldn't have minded it being a little slower since I hate how much we've let films get fast-paced and edgy, fortunately the fast-paced environment of the film didn't take away from the artistic side. If this film would've been made 40 years ago, the effects would've sucked but the story would've been cleaner and told better.
I enjoyed the cinematography to an extent, the depth of field was very fun and I feel as if I would've shot this film the same way for the most part. I think it would've captured the feel of certain scenes better with more close-ups and extreme close-ups. The lack of longer clean shots took away from the emotion of the film. I wouldn't have expected any different after dark knight, but had hope that Nolan would push his DOP to use longer shots and less quick cuts. I appreciated the fact that they filmed on panavision, and didn't waste time with digital or ruin the film by going 3d.
The last thing that I will discuss is the ending, there are several things that struck me as I watched the film come to a close. First, that the film was suggesting that as humans we'll never be able to truly grasp or perceive reality and what is true in our hearts is true for us. The slight tipping of the totem stood for the constant battle that we have to seek out the truth in our selves and under the circumstances of the film, understand that what is reality for each character is what the true reality is for them selves, by not showing the totem fall it demonstrated that all we are is people seeking out the truth and the meaning of existence.
The second theory or thought I had was that the ending merely indicated that perhaps everything can be an illusion and humans are simply fooled into thinking they wake up from dreams, and the reality we perceive is simply in the dream of something bigger then us.
Apologies is my ramblings make no sense at all, I am not a writer, but simply a thinker who enjoys looking into philosophical meanings of interesting films. Overall the film Inception will always be a highly rated film and I would rank it in the top 15 best of all time any day, with a few improvements it would have easily been my favorite. I did enjoy the similarities in style to films like Brazil and my favorite Nolan film Memento.

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007)
very good
This is an excellent movie. I'm my book rates as one of the best fantasy movies ever. The cinematography is excellent! You truly have to appreciate artistic films to enjoys this!
Do not listen to the poor reviews. See this movie and you will probably not regret it. The scenery was excellent, I really enjoy a well choreographed movie with a artistic flow such as. The effects were great and the colors were as well.
My only beef was that some of the acting was a little lacking, also the lack of a consistent accents is an issue. The other thing is casting Bert Reynolds as a main actor in anything is a mistake especially a epic movie. The main villain is also a annoying actor that could have been played by someone else.
