Storm Stories (2003)
My Kind of Show
I am glad Jim Cantore narrated this show since I am a big fan of him. This show really dosen't use that many special effects and uses actual footage. I am glad I own Storm Series DVD Series. Even on television, The Weather Channel doesn't really have that many commercials. This is REAL science. The culprit behind me liking this show: Twister, The Day After Tomorrow and Category 7: The End Of The World. I am also a weather freak. The camera-work and actual footage The is excellent. The graphs and animation were superb. The show is even safe enough for children. If you like weather you will like this show. I highly recommend this show.
The Nanny Diaries (2007)
Rips Off Mary Poppins
The differences between the old Mary Poppins and this movie: 1> only one kid involved instead of 4+ kids in the old Mary Poppins movie. 2> The umbrella scenes were weak. 3> The chemistry between Mr.X and Mrs. X was very upsetting. 4> The rules of Mrs.X were appalling-too many. 5> The chemistry between Scarlett Johansson and Nicholas Art had no major improvement. The upsides of the movie: the music and the cast. The movie had no real magic and no chimney sequence like in the old Mary Poppins movie. The chemistry between the nanny and Mr.X was almost non-existence. There was no resolution after the "camera incident". The humor kept the movie rating moderately higher.
Stealth (2005)
As Good As Delta Force and Mission Impossible
PRO'S of Stealth > The bombing and flying sequences. > The CAST: Josh Lucas, Jessica Biel, Jamie Foxx, Sam Shepard, Wentworth Miller and Richard Roxburgh > The music featuring Incubus and BT > The special effects. > The Director: Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, xXx, xXx: State of the Union) > Some humor. The movie does not deserve the abundance of one star ratings (look at the cast and action sequences) CON's of Stealth > Some conversation unclarities and some abnormal camera-work. Parts the Stealth that could of been done without: actually none and movie was very consistent. Parts of Stealth that could have been done better: The closing sequence at the end between Jessica Biel and Josh Lucas.
Category 7: The End of the World (2005)
The Day After Tomorrow Meets Twister
Pros of Category 7: Graphics/Special Effects EXCELLENT Cast: Gina Gershon, Shannen Doherty, Randy Quaid, Robert Wagner, Adam Rodriguez, Swoosie Kurtz, Tom Skerritt Multiple Locations Continuous Action Humor (the flog segment) Involves the Bible (the frog plague) Some Romance NO profanity Cons of Category 7 The church scenes (Swoosie Kurtz) The fly scenes. The reasons that I knocked off points: no earthquakes. The movie is very consistent without any major slow points. Hurricane Gustav inspired me to watch this movie. There was absolutely no gore in this movie. The whole rocket thing was a nice touch. You should give this movie a shot.
