Fame (2009)

Closer to reality.
4 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I just saw Fame today and as i do with every film after i see it, i come on to IMDb to see what others think of it. Not much to my surprise, this film has been hit with a lot of criticism and that was to be expected. But this is my opinion of what i thought of Fame.

I'm not going to compare this to the first one. In all honesty, everyone knows the original is always the best. But Fame was different. This Fame, it stepped in to reality. While a lot of people may fail to see this, it is true. Because this is the truth for a lot of young kids out there who try to make it. In each character we see a different story. And it's most likely a story of someone who's facing that out in the real world.

I see this close to reality because this will be me in a month. Auditioning for dance and acting at tafe. This movie, although i know is nothing like what i will probably go through, showed me possibilities, circumstances and many things i'll most likely have to face like the kids in this film did.

Each characters story opened my eyes. The successful ones, you could feel for their happiness, while the ones who weren't as successful, i could see that it would hit close to home. Having to go through the hard work, suffer through the late nights, the achievements and the ones who fell short. This is what's happening or what is going to happen to many teenagers around the world and Fame showed us this in a way closer to reality than many other films.

Although a lot of people are bagging it for not having the right story line, for having crap actors, for having bad dancing and singing. I also think a lot of those people wouldn't know what it's like to go through this. I heard that they wanted this Fame to be as close to reality as possible. Hence, the new actors, the dance moves, the singing and the acting. They were not trying to do the same as the old Fame. They were bringing it in to the world of today. They wanted it to be closer to reality and if that's what they were aiming for, they got it spot on.

Once of the most beautiful movies i've ever seen.
30 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I only just saw this movie a few days ago. I had nothing to do and it was the one year anniversary of Heath Ledgers death. I had been wanting to see this film for so long but just never got around to it. I thought this would be the perfect day to sit down and enjoy a film.

I was expecting the movie to be good but in all honesty i wasn't expecting it to be this amazing. It gave me shivers and it left me speechless. I thought the starting of the film was beautiful. Neither of the men talking for about 5 minutes, you just watch them wait.

This was a movie that showed me love. It had me in tears numerous times and the stronger the bond got between Ennis and Jack, the more and more i got in to this film.

It was truly amazing. The acting, the writing, everything about it just blew me away. I had no idea i could feel like this after watching a movie. When the last lines were said i just sat there in awe. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhal gave outstanding performances.

This movie taught me so much about life, so much about love. It showed me the world in ways i haven't looked at it before. From the beginning of their love affair from when it ended with Jack dying i truly felt like my heart was falling apart watching this movie.

It gave a message that i hope could help so many peoples lives. As i sit here and write this i have trouble finding the correct words to describe this film. It was just too amazing for words.

One of the best movies i have ever seen. This shows the true meaning of love and that it's true when they say, you can't fight fate.

Perfect ending.
30 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
The lights dimmed and the children became quiet. With a theatre packed with children aged under 10 years of age i could sense the excitement as the much long awaited High School Musical 3: Senior Year was about to come on screen.

The screen lit up and there it was. The face of Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) sweating from ear to ear. The movie had begun. I squealed like a two year old when i first saw his face. Believe it or not but i had been waiting several months for this movie to come out. The night before i had hardly slept as i was just too excited.

In all honesty, this movie blew me away. It really took my expectations out of the water. For a cinema release the actors had to step it up so much more from the first and second movies and they did exactly that.

Each dance number had amazing choreography and lots of glitz and glamour. The story was beautiful and in some parts it almost had me in tears.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year was nothing but an amazing entertaining and fun loving film for the children and even teenagers to love. It was not made to win any Oscars or make history, it was made to entertain and it just did that. I don't understand the people who criticize this movie. It may not be something you're going to enjoy but sure as hell the little one's are going to love it.

People say it's unrealistic, that no high school is this perfect. Which is true but why criticize this movie for stepping out of the boundaries and letting people's imaginations run wild for a couple of hours. The story was touching, the songs were beautiful and the actors really tried their hardest and as the words High School Musical came down and the six main characters jumped in the air for the last few seconds of the final song and movie i couldn't help but wipe a tear from my face.

A perfect ending to the High School Musical trilogy and i thank them for bringing something new in to the lives of younger children for the first time in a long time. High School Musical 3: Senior Year had me wishing that my life could feel just like a musical.

So stupid, it's funny.
30 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie for the first time a few weeks ago. I had recently fell in love with Bam Margera, one of the cast members so i felt i had to watch this.

After seeing the introduction I was left with my jaw dropped to the ground. In all honesty i think Jackass 1 and 2 have the best openers I've ever seen to a movie. With the whole cast emerging from dust or smoke you see about 10-15 bulls chasing after them. You could not believe that this could actually be real. With the men jumping in to bins, cars and pools to try and get away from being hurt it shows Bam and Johnny Knoxville run in to a house where they think they're safe. "Hi, I'm Johnny Knoxville & welcome to Jackass." He gets trampled by 3 bulls and there it is, the movie begins.

With absolutely hilarious skits you can tell the boys have stepped it up a thousand notches since the first Jackass had so much popularity. A lot of people can look at these men and just think this is pure stupidity and no doubt it is. But it is also pure entertainment that no other men have given people in a long, long time. These men pretty much risk their lives for a bit of fun. Shocking yet brilliant, Jackass 2 will have you in fits of laughter from the very start to the very end.

Some scenes may make you puke. Watching a man poo, watching a man eat poo or watching a man drink horse semen may not do it for you. If not then there are always the hilarious skits where Johnny Knoxville dresses up as an old man with his balls hanging out, Bam Margera getting penis brands on his ass and the very hilarious Terror Taxi scene. Then there are the scenes that are down right stupid but you can't help but laugh. From Steve-o shoving a hook in his mouth and almost getting bit my a shark to Johnny Knoxville fishing out anacondas from a ball pit and getting bit several times. No doubt the men in this movie could've lost their lives and in some way this is why we love them.

After you think it's all ended they finish the movie with a hilarious Broadway dance number. As i said, this movie will have you in stitches and in tears. I have to congratulate these men for daring to do what many others never would just for pure entertainment.
