Matlock: The Network (1987)
Entertainment Tonight
Seems like Access Hollywood was designed to imitate this format - and if you like gossip shows, you should like this episode
Karla Faye Tucker: Forevermore (2004)
If you like soap operas, you'll probably like this
And this is probably why they don't use much prison dialect in soap operas simply because it is too boring. Not worth watching
Sea Hunt: Underwater Pirates (1961)
Pirates? As in arrgh?
A so-so episode that depicts the type of personalities found undesirable in real life as well as on the seas and the unprotected environment that exists on the seas where there are not always police to protect and serve.
What sort of treasure might be found on this sunken shipwreck? Will it be gold, silver trinkets, pieces of eight or the more plain copper and brass? And what exactly is the real treasure in this episode anyway? Also, find out the value of camaraderie between pirates and of their association within the group. Finally, Mike Nelson makes a powerful statement in an obscure sort of way that basically states: never underestimate the power of being prepared!
Wagon Train: The Annie MacGregor Story (1958)
The true benefit of bagpipes
Really a so-so story, a few funny bit parts by some of the main character actors. Jeannie Carson is a babe on the plains and no doubt the reason for the successful attempt to render assistance to even the most stubborn people. What I can't figure out is how the repair was made so easily and without detection when a whole group of helpers were unable to accomplish the feat in broad daylight. And, of course, I seriously doubt the average plains traveler could be as properly dressed as some of the participants in this story. The writer of this story must have the same appreciation of bagpipes as I do. Who new they would have this benefit?! Worth watching the episode just to learn the benefit of that!
Wagon Train: The Kate Parker Story (1959)
Drop the gun or I'll roll her!
It's fun to see these old episodes and how much they managed to squeeze into an hour show. The insides of those wagons are as roomy as a hotel suite. Warren Stevens plays a total loser whose greed for gold finally sinks him. Ruta Lee and Virginia Grey are the actresses in this story and don't really look like trail riders, and that's OK. I'd gladly be the prospector living alone in the wilderness if I could find a total babe (Virginia Grey) lying outside my cabin and needing saved. Special thanks to Wooster for having appropriate medication handy in the middle of nowhere. Overall a good episode of a somewhat typical story on Wagon Train
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978)
Sense of humor needed!
People are taking this movie much too seriously! This is a musical, not a drama. All musicals are goofy at some point in the performance. I think they did a good job of tying all these songs together and somehow made them a part of a plot, albeit somewhat unimportant. As for the cast of characters, anyone who took the part of the Beatles would have huge shoes to fill and would get beat up about it. You can see the results in the other comments written here. The performances by the different groups and individuals are fun and have plenty of subtle humor embedded which some people might not get without viewing a second or third time. I also like the broad range of performances from the hilarious version of Maxwell's Silver Hammer with Steve Martin to the almost chilling display of Come Together by Aerosmith. The entire musical is about the music of and about the album SGT. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and in the finale, a group of famous people are assembled assimilating the albums cover. Look closely during this segment for you're sure to recognize someone. Also, it is the only chance you'll have to get a quick look at any one of the actual Beatles. If you can handle a little light hearted fun, then I recommend it to you.
