Alex Rider (2020–2024)

Slow start but binge watch worthy
18 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the movie so I had high hopes and expectations for the show. After a slow start with the first 2 episodes, the show picks up pace and grips your attention until the end and leaves you wanting to see more of Alex Rider.

Positives:

1. Otto Farrant does an amazing job as Alex, spy material without showcasing it.

2. Great Casting - I enjoyed the performance of Miss Jones, Jack Starbright and of course Tom.

3. Adaption - Even though they start the story with Book 2 while keeping the murder of Ian Rider from Book 1, the source story does not change. However, significant changes in how the story is told make it less childish and more like a coming of age story. Great choices in my opinion!

Negatives:

1. Slow start - It takes a good 2-3 episodes episodes before it becomes gripping. By the end of the series you will have forgotten about the slow start.

2. Plotholes - There are a couple plotholes and inconsistencies, but nothing glaring.

It's a great show despite the rocky start and if you loved the books and the movie, I would definitely encourage you to watch the series. Don't get discouraged by the first few episodes because you will be binge watching the remaining episodes.

Outstanding adaptation of the books

I am a fan of the books and it is amazing to see the story of Jamie and Claire come alive on screen. With the Gaelic, the music, the costumes and the flying locations the series becomes instantly addicting. Enjoy !

Fascinating craft

Really enjoyed the show, glassblowing on screen! the episodes are short and the focus was on art and the glassblowing and less about drama between or about contestant. Art is not just about technique but also about expressing your opinions and leaving a mirror of yourself in the craft.

Sapphire Blue (2014)

An excellent film for the fans
27 September 2014
The film has the perfect ingredients for a nice young adult movie: magic, fantasy, well renowned German cast, excellent soundtrack, good storyline and romance.

We have seen it with other trilogies, it is not always easy to write the middle part in a trilogy but in my opinion it was successful, the film had a good pace and fans of the books will be delighted to see the story come alive on the big screen. The differences to the book are small and do not affect the story.

It is above all a movie for teenagers with a small budget but the producers have outdone themselves in my opinion and the movie is well worth watching.
