Everything a western should be! Everything a movie should be. You left the movie feeling good about life knowing that there are men who stand up against injustice. Thing I really liked:
1. I think what made this the best western I have ever seen was the realism of the gun play. I don't know if it was just me but when Charlie fired the shotgun in the bar it actually sounded like someone fired a shotgun right beside me! In most movies gunshots sound muffled.
2. The story was simple and you did not feel overwhelmed trying to learn or get to know two dozen characters in two hours.
3. Sue's imperfect hair and lack of make-up made her very real and down-to-earth.
4. The crowded cafe seemed so real - not like the red/white checkerboard covered tables in most westerns.
5. Justice prevailed because good men stood against evil!
6. I'm not sure why this movie was rated R. I've seen more violence on network TV. There is very little profanity and no sexual explicit scenes and no gore. I saw it with my 10 year-old boy and I thought it was appropriate for him to see.
If they were selling DVDs of this movie in the lobby, I'd have bought a dozen Christmas gifts on the way out of the movie! I loved this movie and highly recommend it!
