The Artist (I) (2011)
10/10
Never Before Have I Seen Something This Unique---
4 January 2012
I must say, I was a bit skeptical walking into 'The Artist', for as I glanced at the members of the audience, I just saw many senior citizens. I expected it to be much like The King's Speech, which I strongly disliked due to its genericness and overall boring tone. I am young, 13, and I was almost preparing myself to be disappointed. This film, however, automatically won its way to my top 10 of 2011 list. I was completely blown away Jean Dujardin's performance. He was absolutely outstanding, and it's a shame that people believe George Clooney tops him. He really is a breakout star with his incredible performance in this film. His facial expressions, his movements, he became the character: A greedy, self-obsessed film star who must come to terms with the fact that his career is dying, under the brand new impression of 'talkies'. Meanwhile, Berenice Bejo casts lightning with her profound ability to act out Peppy Miller a 'Peppy' (pun intended) girl who is on her way to becoming a true star. She really does capture the screen in each scene she is in, with both her beauty, and her true emotions that are extracted as time plays out on the screen. The original score- Marvelous. The costume/set design- Incredible. I could go on and on forever about how great this film was, but I will just sum it up in words. The Artist, is a unique, creative piece that provides relief from big-budget action films, bringing long-time film lovers and brand new audiences into the simpler time of the silent film era. Thriving off the performances of Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo, The Artist is a one of a kind masterpiece.

Scream 4 (2011)
7/10
Very good, especially for die-hard fans

THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER FREE: READ ON FOR MY REVIEW ON SCREAM 4 (2011) I was pleasantly surprised. This was a great movie, especially for fans of the original. It makes up for the awfulness of Scream 3, and includes many very talented new actors and actresses. I was very surprised to walk into the screening theater and see a fantastic horror film. As soon as the Dimension logo appeared on screen, my heart began to race. The opening scene was brutal and hilarious, and it was great to see all of the original characters back on the screen again. I found the Wes Craven cameo, and was laughing as I spotted it out. This movie was great to watch, even though there were some things that needed to be fixed. Very minor problems though. There were some parts in the dialogue that seemed unrealistic (Ehren Kruger re-writes), but it wasn't a huge deal. Also, the ending was kinda long, but it was also very suspenseful. I would most definitely recommend this to a friend in search of a good horror movie.

The Walking Dead (2010–2022)
10/10
Whoa. And I don't even like zombies that much.
16 March 2011
I honestly did not even have very high expectations when I first watched this show... But boy, was I wrong. This show is honestly amazing. Possibly the best show on television. You don't even have to be interested in zombies to enjoy it. It has all of the emotion and character development of a film. The show is truly astounding, and should be watched by everybody. It is violent, sexy, dramatic, and everything in between. I was ANGRY when there were only 6 episodes in the first season. Every single episode in this show leaves you wanting more. It was annoying to watch on TV (I have DIRECT TV, AMC isn't HD) for a while, but after I bought the BLURAY set and watched it, I realized how beautiful the cinematography and filming was. This program is absolutely amazing, and I hope it continues for many years to come.

Deadgirl (2008)

Whoa...
20 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I rented this movie on iTunes, remembering seeing the trailer from the DVD of 'House Of The Devil', and I had very low expectations. I had read some reviews saying it was not good, but I gave it a shot because of Candice Accola, who I am a fan of. This movie was emotionally and physically disturbing. I usually do not cringe during movies, but this was very disgusting, even for me. The acting is amazing. Shilo Fernandez was such a believable character with so many issues, it just made me feel so sad. Candice Accola did a fantastic job as well, and not just because I am a fan of hers. The only thing that kind of made me skeptical was that the plot did not entirely advance throughout the movie. It mostly stayed the same, until the last 20-30 minutes or so. It was very still good though, and the ending was a huge cliffhanger. I am very glad that I rented this, and I would highly recommend it to other horror film-goers.

The Vampire Diaries (2009–2017)
9/10
Violent, Romantic, Great story, has vampires... What more could you ask for???

This show is absolutely amazing! I am a guy which may be a little weird, but this show is actually really good! It is bloody good fun, :) and is great at keeping you locked into it! I love the whole vampire plot and stuff, because I think Kevin Williamson is amazing! The "Scream" series writer doing a TV show?! Count me in! I love the characters, too! My favorites are Damon, Mr. Saltzman, and Elena! Stefan scares me, but Hahaha whatever! I also love watching promos for upcoming episodes because all I do is smile and think to myself, "Why can't it be now???!!!" Hahaha but the only thing that is bad is the schedule. Thursday night TV is a very crowded night for me and a LOT of people. The Office, 30 Rock, The Mentalist, Parks and Recreation, Community, Sports... It is great to fit Vampire Diaries in, because I would clear my whole schedule for it hahaha :) I want this show to be kept on the air for years :)
