Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Even better than the first one...The magic is alive...
Being a huge fan of the Harry Potter books, it's so great to be able to see them come to life on the screen. And although I did think at first that my own image of the books might be destroyed by an unworthy actor's portrayal, the movies made so far have been alarmingly close to what I'd imagined the books to be like. So, it was great when I went to the theater with the expectations of the first movie, only to be shocked that the second movie has out done my expectations. We can only hope that when the reins are handed over to another director that the finished product will live up to its predecessors. Although I am over twenty, I must admit to being an unabashed reader of the Harry Potter books. I really hope that the next five movies to be made will be as true to J.K. Rowling's books as the first two have. If you love the books, you have to SEE THIS MOVIE!! (I only have one complaint...where's peeves?)
The Big Gamble (1961)
A fun movie to watch... Should be called the lorry...
This movie about the struggles of a crew of three to get a lorry filled with a cargo of beer to it's final destination was a favorite late-night movie of my sister's (and mine). The story, at times, left something to be desired...but the acting was good, and the emotions of the characters really came through. (Imagine how you would feel if you were stuck delivering a truck full of beer to some remote village, and everything that could go wrong, did.) I gave it a ten. (Nostalgia probably played a part in that rating.) Definitely worth the watch... if you can find it, that is.
