2012: Ice Age (2011 Video)
10/10
Huge fun
21 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Attention: If you are a fan of high budget Blockbuster Disaster Movies than stay away. 2012: Ice Age is from the legendary Asylum studios and yes, it is low budget, the action is slow and the special effects look really that cheap but that makes it funny to watch.

Patrick Labyorteaux (Andy from "Little House on the Prairie") and the lovely Julie McCullough (Julie from "Growing Pains") are the leads and it is a pleasure to see especially Julie in a lead role again.

I really love the Making of because there you can see how creative the director and the crew were: the snow scenes were all filmed in sunny L.A., the car- and flight-scenes were filmed in the studio and you can see the camera man shaking with his camera to give it "that special look".

Again: it is low budget but made by really creative people and it is huge fun to watch this movie.

Caché (2005)

Bad, bad, bad
28 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Michael Haneke always works with the same concept: cold distance camera work, less dialog, slow edits, a boring story that makes the audience fall asleep combined with a few shocking elements that should wake his audience up.

This is the recipe of all his movies and it never worked less than here. The suicide scene is just bad. This one scene looks like you're in a bad slasher movie.

Juliette Binoche and Daniel Auteul are giving their best but they have no chance against the bad script (by the way: was there a script? It doesn't look that way).

If you are looking for a story or a sense behind "Cachè" you will be disappointed: there is none.

Vampire City (2009)

Crazy and funny tribute to Trash Movies
13 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
"Vampire City" is low budget but great fun. It starts with a fighting scene with Vienna's Wrestlers starring the great Humungus. Wolf Morrison, who also made the excellent "Wild Rebel" gives a fine performance here, too:

He plays the clumsy Robert Van Helsing and the cool Count Dracula and he really seems to enjoy both parts. Sofia Soul as Pia is so sweet, beautiful and talented that you wanna marry her, Franziska Doppel is very beautiful as Isabelle and the bad one's just blew me away: Biggy Waite as the crazy Vampire Queen and Chris Gassler as Morlock are gorgeous. Their appearance make this movie special. Christina Breit as young Vampire Princess is so great that you wish she had much more screen time. She's a great young talent with a future.

The music scenes in this movie are great fun, too. Especially when the Brain appears you can't stop laughing.

I had so much fun watching this movie. Very much recommended! Can't wait to see Part 2.

Wild Rebel (2008)

Cool movie, great cast
25 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't expect very much, when I first see it on the screen but "Wild Rebel" really surprised me. Shot with no or a very less budget, this short movie (only 25 or 26 minutes long) tells a very interesting story about a young guy, Jeff, played by Wolf Morrison, who is very well-known at Vienna's stages.

Even the support cast is great. The two guys in the opening scene who play the dealers look really dangerous. They try to beat up a guy named David, but Jeff helps him and introduces him to his girlfriends Jessica and Tina.

In the next scene we see a couple in their best years, Mona and Mackie, married but nothing in common, Mona leaves and meets Jeff in a bar. They start an affair. Not only Mona's husband founds out about their affair, also Jeff's girlfriend Jessica.

When Jeff steals the drug money from the head of the dealers, Rico, this is the beginning of his end.

The guy who plays the villain Rico is a real surprise: Herbie Smith is a well-known guitar legend in Vienna and I think this is the only movie he ever was in. His portrait of a gangster who's best years are over is not bad.

Rico hires a Killer to find Jeff and even the guy who plays the killer looks convincing in his part.

My personal highlight of this movie is the talk between the two girls, Jessica, played by Corinna Lenneis and Tina (Ebm). There is so much power and emotion in this scene. Both are real great actresses with a feeling for their characters. If they ever make a Part 2 of "Wild Rebel" then the story should concentrate on this two great character actresses.

Wolf Morrison is a good actor but sometimes he doesn't know if he should play a scene dramatic or funny. In some scenes Thomas Landl as Mackie steals him the show.

A real cool movie with a great cast. Highly recommended!
