Gangs of New York (2002)
Great Movie
Gangs of New York was a great film about revenge, in the name of honor and love. The battle scenes coul have been better if the final battle scene was longer with more intensity. However it was still a textbook ending. Great acting and costumes i enjoyed this film
Biker Boyz (2003)
Not as bad as people say
Though this movie may try and be like "Fast and the Furious" a little too much it still was enjoyable. Lets all remember these type of racing films are all part of a new genre and it is going to take some time to make these films more enjoyable.
Big Shot: Confessions of a Campus Bookie (2002)
Money makes the world go around
Minor Spoilers
I especially enjoy movies that are based on a true story, and this was one of them. This movie is about an average jewish boy from Brooklyn, New York who gets introduced into the world of fast money, women, and sports. (every mans dream)He then gets a player under his wing, and the money really starts coming in, he gets extremly deep in the game and his whole life becomes ruined. It is a great movie that shows how fast money comes in fast, and leaves even faster, but when its over you dont even have what you started with.
A Guy Thing (2003)
Way more funny than expected
SPOILERS
There were many parts in this film that made me laugh, that i didnt expect to be in this movie. One specific part was the crabs, the whole situation, from the store to the presentation in his office were extremly funny. Also i found the preacher during the wedding to be a hilarious part. The only thing that knocked down the movie for me was the amount of predictability that it possessed at the end of the movie. It was known that Julia Stiles would marry Paul, and that Pauls brother would marry Pauls Fiancee. Other than that this movie was fun for an hour and 40 minutes.
Just Married (2003)
Not great, but worth a couple laughs
Just Married is just a simple comedy with nothing much to it. But going into the film if you expect to see oscar type performances and completely original comedy, then you got another thing coming. This movie is just to kill a couple hours and put a smile on your face, nothing more, nothing less
King of New York (1990)
One of the best gangster movies of all time
Frank White is the modern times "Tony Montana." He tries to play god by judging who has the right to live and die in the game of drug traffiking. With the police, and rival gangs all trying to take him out this is much like social darwinism in the streets of New York. I enjoyed how much Christopher Walken resembled a humble, respected, gang leader and how Larry Fishburne resemble his right hand man who would do anything to please Frank White. This was one of the best movies i have ever seen, and ranks up there with Goodfellas, and Scarface.
25th Hour (2002)
Spike Lee does it again
Spike Lee always seems to have a certain effect that makes you think about the film after it is over. Again he has you thinking about your life as though you were headed to jail for 7 years. He once again shows their is no limitations in this form of story telling, with the racists remarks, and the i dont give a *&^% attitude. This was a good slow drama, that puts your own life in perspective, what would you do if you had 24 hours until facing a 7 year jail sentence
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
A movie about life, love, and culture
When i watched this movie i came into with an open mind. I had heard it was funny, but at the same time that it had lessons to teach about life, love and culture. i thought this movie was mediocre, but definatley worth watching. Even if romantice comedies arent your type of movie, this is still worth watching just because it has a lesson to teach, life isnt over no matter how old you are.
Wrong Turn (2003)
an enjoyed film
though this movie may have taken its original roots from an X-Files episode (The Peacock Brothers) i still enjoyed this movie. I came into this film not knowing what to expect but i left with a smile on my face because this movie was a thriller that kept me glued to the screen almost the whole time. The suspense and the brothers were a great touch to a film that i believed didnt have the potential to even be decent. Go see it but maybe wait for a rental
