Argo (2012)
A bad movie for bad tastes!
there is no doubt that Hollywood is a factory of deception and lies to serve its own agenda,to measure a movie is a relative task, and each film has its own good and bad moments, and not every choice is simply a film without question, Ben Aflack's latest film once again proved with no doubt how Hollywood is tainted with political purposes, and how a very ordinary movie with hundreds of flaws and shortcomings becomes the most beloved choice.
once again the credibility of movie factory in US is under question, may be more than ever, but the subject remains is the same, another 3rd world country is victimized by some people who choose Aflak as their front face (and nobody bothers to question that),the story is watery and tasteless, the act is so bad that in some parts it looks like an out of comic book performance, directing is full of mistakes and flaws,,and while claiming it is a based on true event, the fact is missing through the film, and above all the scenes are unbelievably phony and unreal, they did not even bothered to offer a basic resemblance to real locations.
Shuttle (2008)
stupid movie
probably this movie could had been a good candidate for the worst movie of the year in 2008.I'll go straight to the main course with no gravy at all. act is bad,director/writer is bad, story line is broken in a great number, character development non,,mistake after mistake all along the length of the movie. you don't see any cars or traffic in any part of the streets in New York for hours.things are left unwrapped.there is no cops in New York what so ever. kidnappers been doing their job-according to the number of ID cards found in his drawer-without any problem for a long time.apparently you can ship human packed and racked in a box right through the NY harbour without customs authorities bugging you. you can colour your hair from dark brown to blond in the sink of the kidnappers' basement in 10 seconds all styled.you can get cut a few times and you got a bullet in your chest and no problem you can still function properly.and list goes on.
Mother and Child (2009)
nice little movie
I like this movie,it is very straight forward, very tense and provocative. Naomi Watts and Annette Bening are great in this one.Sam Jackson so so. the story is very good.the directing is good. it is a very touchable story, teen pregnancy and baby adoption and all the complexity of this kind that follows. Annette Bening is mother of a child (Naomi Watts)she gave her up for adoption when she was a teenager. Naomi watts is trying to find her mother, she is very self destructive and Annette Bening is confused she feels guilty and she is lost.she gets into a relationship with hesitance she tries hard to forget all this but it is not easy.I don't go further to spoil it all. I'm sure you'll like it especially if you have teenagers in your house.
Fair Game (2010)
a semi documentary
this is a highly charged political flick all the way through ,and anti Bush administration tone,it is regarding the notorious wmd program in Iraq right before the invasion. just every now and then a loud ,noisy & ear scratching sound track shakes you up and you'll become uncomfortable watching it. the story is been out for a long time,so no surprises here.even there are a few TV clips of the Bush era inserted in the film to glue the frictional and documentary parts to each other. act is not that bad, after all some of the most experienced Hollywood actors are in this movie, and most of times they take initiatives by themselves. directing is very poor, the director does not make any effort to make sense of the story. all together a good story is wasted by a poor directing,he has rushed the second half of the movie, looks like they were running out of money or a similar problem.
Blue Valentine (2010)
just an average movie!
I saw the movie last night,it is the story of a day to day relationship of a couple(Cindy & Dean) who they got a daughter (Frankie) with a little role at the beginning and at the very end.I don't intend to spoil this here,so I stick to some technical aspects of the show for now,,acting is good, probably the only bright area of the movie that keeps you interested to the end!directing "by Derek Cianfrance" is somehow average,he is the writer of the play too, usually that makes things very simple for the director,,,,storyline is very ordinary and very predictable ,nothing to it to separate this one from similar troublesome and plagued relationship movies you have seen before.editing too confusing, especially cuts between present time and flashbacks,,sometimes you can't tell when is when!!you have to focus on hair dos and cloths to figure this out,,,because the environment still the same.
True Grit (2010)
A very boring movie!!!
I never understood people who go to a great distance to praise a meaningless painting or an ear-scratching music or a useless movie like this one for show off,it always reminds me the story of The Emperor and his New Clothes ... this movie is a waste of time and money, nothing to offer but long boring conversations or best to say;quarrels between a few hammered individuals and a far fetch blown up kid character who all of sudden is a kind expert in business negotiation, law enforcement, gun tottering,,,you name it,,, with a mumbling hard to understand ,one eye Jeff Bridges. people who gave 10 to this movie must be genius in something beyond my comprehension.I have seen movies by Coen brothers before and some of them were great but this one is not one of them, keep in mind that good directors can make bad movies too and it is all right to acknowledge the fact.
Rabbit Hole (2010)
a simple but good movie
this is one the most descent movies I've seen this year so far,Nicole Kidman and Aaron Ekhart performance is top of the line.I saw Shortbus from the directer John Cameron Mitchell 2 years ago and I have to admit that I liked it,so when I had the opportunely to see the Rabbit Hole I grabbed it and believe me I was not disappointed. the story is bit depressing, the death of a young kid and its effect on a family, and how every things falling apart around them.then the psychological aspect of the bizarre relationship between Kidman and a teenager who supposedly was involved in the child's accident.and the infusion of a comic book (Rabbit hole)into the story that at the beginning seems out of place but fits well at the end and makes sense finally.
Jonah Hex (2010)
a great comic movie
DIRECTOR Jimmy Hayward who is Well known for his box office block buster animation movies like Toy story, finding Nemo and monster Inc ,here carefully presented a new era in his young career and I have to say it is one of the Hollywood best works since sin city, most of the critics and some of the viewers remarks are not either fair nor well placed.some of the reviews are rooted in something else rather than the movie itself, things like the eternal conflict between south and north that I won't have any intention to step in that subject here. back to the movie,I can say the directing is great, act is superb ,especially John Malkovich and josh Brolin not to forget Megan Fox as Lilah a prostitute with a clear view of the on going battle between good and evil and she is in the right side of the conflict. special effects are very well done, the sound effect is amazing, lots gadgets and super guns and future technology for that era are inserted, the camera is moving smoothly and the editing is great. we shouldn't forget of the movie category in this regards which is comics, where comic characters can still stay alive even if they got multiple gun shots or fell off the tall places, or flying in the sky and outer space like Superman,so please watch the movie with this fact.
The Other Guys (2010)
this movie is an insult to audience Intelligence
the worst flick ever,I can call this one the most horrible movie of the year so far, unless something else will show up down the road, acts are bad, story is,,,does not exist at all, special effect cheesy, directing is awful, too much bla bla all the way through the movie, shaky camera,,,I can't understand who are the people behind this kind garbage produced in the Hollywood factory, and then all that false advertising during the marketing. They put together a host of famous actors with the hope of a hefty return,,and all is done waste of their talents. Very non sense stupid lines, very confusing atmosphere and list goes on, please do not waste your time and money on this piece of rubbish. thanks for reading.
The A-Team (2010)
a very bad movie based on a very good TV series
I loved the A-team TV series but this movie is an unsuccessful attempt, it is super noisy, pointless, very confusing and over crowded ...up to 20 minutes through the movie still you will read titles and credit texts.the story starts with so called Hollywood labelled bad guys,in this case a few Latinos that in spite of their greater number they are defeated by 2 guys, then all of sudden they are talking about going Baghdad and talking to go to Kabul too and so on,I think movie making in Holiwood hit the bottom with this one. dialogues are suppressed with a load soundtrack and lots of human ah & ooh,& machine noises,Everybody's yelling, shouting and speaking in the same time please don't waste your money and time to see this movie. Thanks
Avatar (2009)
Excellent movie
James Cameron has done it again,an excellent journey into the world of unknown with an amazing use of technology, and a glamorous 3d effect ,love story and heroism side by side, and when the main characters of the story find themselves in the wrong side of the conflict they do not hesitate to correct their line ups .Sam Worthington doing a great job as an ex-Marine in a planet far away working for a greedy corporate entity with a huge fire power and ready to destroy lives and scorch the land/nature just for the sake of profit and off course in the name of exporting civilization(read democracy) to savages.it is a familiar tale,we've seen it on and on around the world in different scales, with different justifications. acting is great, especially Sigourney Weaver's performance is flawless.effects are near perfect, they have done a superb job on 3d effects.as usual Cameron is into the smallest details very carefully to prove ,once again ,he is a perfectionist.I really enjoy watching this movie and I'm sure this one will stay around for a long time to come.
Hardwired (2009)
watchable
a very poor imitation of matrix and/or total recall or similar SiFi movies. though the Plot is not that bad , it is dragging too far, action is OK, acting in Cuba Gooding part and Ironside is good,Val Kilmer looks goofy though, other actors not very promising.
The sound track of the movie is annoying and out of place, it is like an Arabic belly dancing music imported right out from Cairo. by far the worst part of the movie is its sound track. at the end the score is kind of Indian drum combo with an Indian singer crying along very sadly.
all together it is a 'watchable movie.
Funny People (2009)
very long boring movie
What I can say about this one,,,it is a very long boring movie with a deliberately confusing title "funny people", it is not funny at all, bunch of commercial actors who most of them have been forced into the Hollywood industry/society because of their connections and links to some certain group of elites horsing around for more than 2 hours aimlessly. By uttering words like penis, vagina, etc. you can't make comedy or as to this one "dark comedy". This group proved to be tasteless and their success in the box office if any was based on pure intensive marketing not their talents. None of the characters in this movie fits comfortably; I never had a moment throughout to feel sorry or happy for any of them. Editing is awful, it is like two different movie joined together.
Gamer (2009)
another piece of crap added to the long list of Hollywood's ...
i tried to watch this garbage last night,it is a piece of meaningless, useless trash,a combo of ear pollution noises and big explosions, fake pictures produced by so called blue screens and a very childish storyline ..I don't know why they keep making this kind of craps,I got out of the movies and went for a long walk in the cool of the night to reset my brain. there is not really much to talk about, games and gamers walk into the real life and make a living in our world,we just need that, everything else is just fine now,,ha ha..come on ,this is done many times before and believe me a lot better than this rubbish. I know the fact that most of these things(I don't call them movies)are made for kids, there is nothing here for their good anyway, they already sunk into the games up to the neck and they believe it is real in their total stupidity anyway.
