The Dark Knight (2008)
This is the best of the three!
I have recently bought all three in blue ray version: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
This 2nd installment is the only one that had the most screen time and being watched repeatedly.
The characters are so well written and played by all. The dialogs, the story flows were superb. The dialog between Joker & Batman inside MCU and when Joker was hanging upside down was classic. Most of all, the logic of the story telling was believable, all except the part that I don't understand why Harvey Dent didn't put a bullet to Joker's head at the hospital when he was so mad of his loses on Rachel when clearly Joker was part of it too.
If I would rate from the best, better to great. It would be The Dark Knight > Batman Begins > The Dark Knight Rises.
Initial D: Third Stage (2001)
Great movie
Basically you can consider it as the last longer episode of stage 2 or the 1st long episode of Stage 4. It doesn't stand alone like the extra stage with its own story. In this 'movie' version, you will see that Takumi is facing the wind of change. He will need to decide how move on to improvise his driving skills, technique and his knowledge in car.
In this movie, he is graduating from his high school(?), and due to his by far unmatched downhill drifting driving skills, he need to decide on how to move on. In the meanwhile, he was invited to join the Project D, initiated by the two Takahashi brothers to challenge all others skilled drivers from other areas in Japan and re-set the fasted driving time in all those areas, then the team dismissed. Before he came to his decision, he had raced the leader of the lancer evolution team, Emperor team and the son of Takumi's father's old time challenger (who had lost to Takumi's father last time). And at the end, he had also raced with Keisuke for his decision making of joining the Project D or not. Not to forget also, this movie also had showed more development of Takumi's love life. In short, its a very good movie with this time more emphasis on the emotion of the main characters. A must match for the Initial D die hard fans.
Initial D: Fourth Stage (2004)
A bit disappointed
Just bought and saw the 1st and 2nd episodes for the 4th stage today. I was expecting more than that. First of all, the visual wasn't much improved since 3rd stage. This time the faces of the previous characters had changed a bit. But you still can tell who they are if you had follow the series. The car chasing scene wasn't enhanced with any special CGI or staff. Second of all, the music. Almost the same trait like before but not as excited as before also. Another thing I noticed was that they had cut short of the story and altered it from the comic book, in a not so complete story. So, If you had the access to the comic book, read them. You'll see what I mean. The story still runs smoothly, but you'll feel it wasn't complete if you had seen the comic book. Overall rating I will give it 7/10. Anyhow, it is still worth your time to watch how Takumi improves his skills and knowledge by challenging all the other great down hill and even up hill drivers overtime.
Blood: The Last Vampire (2000)
Class of its kind
I was lucky that my brother bought the movie and I am very delighted to find out such a great movie it was. The plot, drawing, intense atmosphere, 3D feel...and lots more. It was really a masterpiece. Since that, I am trying to look for similar type of animation but until now, nothing can beat this one. (Perhaps someone can recommend) Go and buy a DVD version because its really worth to watch it over and over again. I would rate it 9.5/10 because the short story.
Initial D: Second Stage (1999)
Greatest car racing ever seen
After watching so many other car racing scene, either animated or even the 'real' movie, I would say that this is by far the best that I would recommend to anyone who are looking for adrenaline rush of a car racing. This is not something like you see in "Fast and the furious", where those punks only know how to upgrade their machines and run faster than the others in a rather straight street, no technique required there, dude.
Here in this series, though animated (but in CGI format), but it really shows to the car racing fans what a car racing scene should be. Not just over hype car crashing, car chasing where the car can fly, turn but landed still 4 wheels on ground stuff; amaze the audience with those nice looking or high tech car (like those in James Bond series). In Initial D, it is not necessarily the mean machines will win, but the one who can master the driving skills and techniques could even outrun the modern and better car. In this series, you could learn a bit of those cars characters, and also briefly how they could drift and swept those corners in a believable but stylish way. It doesn't have nonsense talking scene in the series. Most of the time, yeah, car racing. Since I love the series so much, I had bought the DVD collection and watch them again and again. Hey, it didn't bore me at all. Just really wonder if there's anyone in the movie industry could produce such an immense and almost impossible car racing/drifting scene using real machine and operated by stunt mans. If there's one, I would be the first to watch it. If you are interested in car chasing and racing, it is a must for you to go and watch it. Those japanese really know how to make an animated series so real and fascinating. I would give them 9 stars.
