Billions (2016)
Can't Get Enough!
Am a little late to the party in watching this and am blown away with this show wish I got on the bandwagon sooner but glad to see it going strong.
Acting, story and writing are all phenomenal. Complex character that make you sympathize, relate and even be repulsed by them at times at the same time.
Keep up the amazing work, this is timeless and I can see rewatching again to revisit.
1883: Lightning Yellow Hair (2022)
Best episode yet
Much more action packed than previous episodes. Exposure to the elements causing more loss but also a couple of unexpected turns along the way.
Elsa proves yet again to have her father's courage and her mother's feistiness.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Primal Masterpiece
War, beliefs survival drive them to extreme measures.
This series is big motion picture quality, what an outstanding production.
The story is riveting, keeping viewers at edge of their seats.
Love the contrast from futuristic high tech to rugged unforgiving landscape of Kepler 22.
I am hooked!
Dark (2017)
I'm obsessed!
Hard not to binge watch so many episodes that you blow a whole weekend not cleaning and not sleeping to but still want to continue watching more.
Right from the beginning you get sucked in just like the characters do into abyss of a story where you need to know what happened to the first missing boy. You feel for him and his family and see the fear. There is a sadness and darkness in this show like I have never seen before but yet you still hold hope for a positive conclusion. On top of that there is relationship drama, mystery and cool costumes and music.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Wow season 2 packs a punch!
This show has really taken off. The story progresses and brings to light complex concepts about time travel. It goes further introducing new characters, intertwining the cast with new storylines. They face the consequences of their actions and the fate of so many are impacted by their influence. Historical references and scenes from the past are beautifully revealed by a skilled and talented set design team.
Fleabag (2016)
Quirky, witty and hilarious
If you are not the pearl clutching prude type and appreciate raunchy sense of humor then you will adore this show. Phoebe is such a talent, excellent writing and creative perspective. You can tell she flexed some artistic liberty here. So addictive love this show can't wait for more new episodes. Outstanding talented cast too
High Fidelity (2020)
Entertaining
Cool show, the music enhances the mood and tone for the story. Quirky, funny and dramatic. Kravitz is so pretty and has such a presence it's hard to keep your eyes off of her.
Killing Eve (2018)
Outstanding!
Pleasantly obsessed. Stylish, chic, excellent acting, superb soundtrack, intriguing location and captivating storylines. Love this show, can't get enough.
Years and Years (2019)
Moved to tears
This show delivered so much more than entertainment by being thought provoking, and pushing the boundaries. At first I thought this was a family drama with political and social undercurrents but really a prophetic glimpse of what can happen in the not too distant future.
The characters are complex and portrayals are outstanding. It was an emotional roller coaster but so worth the ride!
Good Omens (2019)
Impeccable story and stellar cast
Love the premise, to think of the end of times and efforts to thwart that inevitable doom.
Funny and quirky this show is super entertaining.
The acting and production quality art top notch. Will watch it again and again, the details are spectacular.
The OA (2016)
Nothing basic here
Very impressive wasn't expecting this to be so deep but what else can we expect from Brit Marling. Her work is thought provoking and cutting edge. So refreshing for a young beautiful actress. Be sure to let go and be open to fully enjoy the experience.
The story is compelling keeping viewers interested and engaged while being told in a dark but hopeful way. The characters are colorful, dark and intense.
The premise is really unique and after watching the first episode it is a wonderful hook. First scene of episode 1 is pretty shocking, will get your attention. Near death experiences opens so many doors flying where the story could lead. It will challenge your belief systems. It also paints a picture of courage, pushing the limits of trust and norms. Another concept that emerges is the idea of our outer self and real self. By the end of episode 1 I was moved to tears.
Grateful that Netflix continues to putting out such great shows.
Chappie (2015)
Entertaining & visually interesting
Mind blowing special effects, back drops, music and costumes. There were even a few parts that were legit funny too. Social commentary does open up a dialogue. Glad I saw it with my tween, it provided real examples of peer pressure and how manipulative gangs can be. Other themes include corporate greed, and the question of sentience. What would life look like with more AI? Are we creeping into a reality of having more convenience using robotics?
Some cheese in the story, but otherwise a fun movie! Some things were a little far fetched, and unrealistic. We didn't go into it with an expectation of it being anything more than entertainment. Was surprised that the Die Antwoord were as good as they would be. Very cool!
True Grit (2010)
breathtaking!
what a nice reprieve from flashy, special effects. instead of concentrating on CGI we get real dialogue, and suspenseful situations. glad to see that modern film making accentuated the feel of the old west. case in point this movies representation of bad teeth, they looked so real.i hated watching the 60's & 70's "westerns" with shiny leathers and hippy looking native Americans.
this was bridges flexing his muscles in thespian craft, like he added his own touch to rooster's character. the real scene stealer was the young actress, stansfield-having not been familiar with her as an actress, she showed her talent.
the real treat was josh brolin, how he could be kind of goofy, and a little slow to a menacing cold-blooded killer, in less time than it takes to blink.
so worth the ticket price & time to sit through & watch! my 8 year old was so moved by this tale, set in a time that will soon be forgotten. it gave him the motivation to put down his hand held electronic device and play outside!
Terriers (2010)
Unique, cool new show!
Glad FX is still making original drama series. While it is funny, there is a fare share of drama, and conflict. The characters are 3 dimensional, and play out as real people you might already know. Good to have a fresh take on PI show. Like that it is still kinda raw, and not predictable either. So much has happened in the 4 episodes I have already watched. Can't wait to see what is next for this crew.
It has been a while since I have been compelled to follow a show. Nice thing is that you can pick up at any time and get into it. Beats anything on network television. Not for those that need main stream junk food TV.
