Westworld: Que Será, Será (2022)

Ponderous and plodding and total mess
15 August 2022
It took four seasons to come to this end? Season four was so much like season three - an unfocused, meandering, not to mention confusing, narrative that wasted the talents of an incredible cast. Evan Rachel Wood looked totally bewildered, speaking her lines in a breathless monotone. Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris and Tessa Thompson, all four looking as if they wanted to be somewhere else. And the CGI effects looked cheap.

Wonderful series.....Sarah Lancashire is at the top of her game
7 April 2022
Kudos to all the participants of this warm, winning, and often amusing series about television and cooking icon/pioneer Julia Child. As Julia, Sarah Lancashire gives a performance for the ages. The supporting cast is sublime - David Hyde Pierce, Bebe Neuwirth, Brittany Bradford, and Fran Kranz. The series aptly captures the early 1960's period details, down to Paul Child's Volvo with Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington on the soundrack.

My favorite episode of the series...lots of fun!
20 March 2022
Great Halloween episode from the beloved NBC detective series - suspenseful with a few surprises. Hudson, Saint James, and Nancy Walker made a great team. You can watch it on YOU TUBE.

A nigh perfect film from an amazing book....kudos all the way around
7 March 2022
Beautifully and meticulously produced adaption of the the classic book. The pacing is slow and deliberate. The acting is peerless headed by Sophie Nelisse as Liesl, Nico Liersch as Rudy, Emma Watson, Geoffrey Rush, and Ben Schnecter. Director Brian Percival and screen writer Michael Petroni have created a small masterpiece here to be enjoyed again and again.

Fellows' Folly.....pure kitsch and not in a good way
2 March 2022
Julian Fellows' new series about the 'haves and have nots' in fin de siecle New York is unwatchable wasting the talents of great actors the like of Morgan Spector, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon and Audra MacDonald, among others. I will watch Spector and MacDonald read a lottery ticket, but watching Baranski, coiffured and dressed up to look like Lizzie Borden, flare her nostrils and utter some of the most stilted dialogue with a straight face is cringe-inducing.

One seriously blaring omission sinks otherwise good finale
28 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The characters in season two's finale had their narratives come to a satisfactory (maybe), and for a few, very violent, conclusion, except one - Nate. Nate gets his revenge on his dad Cal, but without facing any consequences for the violence, mental and emotional pain he has inflicted others. No justice for Tyler Clarkson???? Nothing has been mentioned about Tyler since the second half of season one. That omission alone sinks any credibility to Nates story. And it's a cheat to the viewers.

Too much of this season has been centered on Rue. Honestly, did we need still another snippet of Rue weeping and reading about her father's death at his wake?

And a shout out to the actors who made their moments count this season - Coleman Domingo, Nika KIng, Storm Reid, and the incredible MARTHA KELLY.

Instant classic! The best of Hallmark....Jaime King rocks this movie
10 December 2021
Even without the Hallmark stamp, this holiday film can stand on its own legs. The tone atypical for a Hallmark Christmas movie - understated, a bit melancholy, but ultimately uplifting. Jaime King gives a lovely, beautifully nuanced performance. Ditto Luke MacFarlane who is perfect compliment.

Definitely an improvement over Richard Paul Evans; mawkish book.

Loves me some Kathy Najimy and Jennifer Coolidge, but no love for this film
6 December 2021
The plot is so formulaic and predictable it borders on the ridiculous. Watch it for Kathy Najimy and the divine Ms. C, then find a good movie to watch. PS. Not everyone wants to move home to be closer to family in New England. As Simone Signoret put in, "Nostalgia ain't what it used to be".

Twisted, perverse, and just plain nasty
1 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ken throws himself an elephantine birthday party and all hell breaks loose. All four Roy siblings get a visceral taste of their own unpleasant medicine, especially the vacuous wanna be Shiv. None of these siblings has much to redeem them. The whole episode is uncomfortable to watch, but watch you will. The writing and the acting are spot on. Great drama.

Good to see Denton and Hatcher together again.....
23 November 2021
....I just wish the movie had been better. The 'It's a Wonderful Life' plot conceit has been run into the ground, especially with these Hallmark Christmas movies. Still the production is lushly photographed and Hatcher and Denton are game players.

HATERS, GET OVER IT...love this show
13 November 2019
This show doesn't make pretenses about what it is not. It's a simple comedy bouyed by Heaton and a nice ensemble cast. My god, I didn't even recognize Lucas Neff from 'Raising Hope'. Good to see him again. Sit back and enjoy this show for what it is - warm, sweet-natured, and funny

Jean Smart to the rescue.....and not a moment too soon.
6 November 2019
I was wavering on whether to stay with this after watching the first two episodes. But Jean Smart shows up as Silk Spectre anchoring this episode. She is brilliant -- tough as nails with a weary 'armies have matched over me' persona. Great actress, excellent script, brilliant episode. I'm staying with it.

Dreary with two insufferable main characters
26 August 2019
Skip this one - a dreary, interminable triangle drama. The two main characters are unlikeable. Who cares about them? If you must watch it, take solace in the sympathetic portrayal of the third man out by Adrian Gonzales. He is good. The film is not.
