Ano hi mita hana no namae o bokutachi wa mada shiranai. (2011)
A Bittersweet End
I had just finished watching Clannad: After Story, and stumbled upon a comment about this very anime. When I read the synopsis, I was instantly hooked, & the excitement that I had begun with this anime, lasted all the way to the end. I recommend this for all anime watchers. It is not a show of much action, but more so on the emotional side. The characters are very much relatable, if not, very realistic, indeed. It is a quick 13 episodes that will make you feel queasy and content at the end of it all. This anime is up there, not one of my most favourites, but definitely close up there. So if you're looking for something to quickly finish & stay satisfied throughout it all, I suggest you to give it a go, & watch it. You will not regret it one bit!
The Legend of Korra (2012)
Heart-warming, Yet Action Packed Series
All the reviews posted on here are pretty much spot on. I'd just like to add a couple of sentences of what I think the show gave us, and what it truly is all about. Overall, as a whole, the series was decently, and thoroughly well created. With there only being 22 minutes each per episode, the producers/directors/writes, etc, all managed to display the episodes quite descriptively, yet still to the point. The characters will really stick to you, as there are many funny scenes, happy scenes, sad scenes, disastrous scenes, frustrating scenes, and to be honest, confusing scenes as well. At times, the dialogue for a couple of episodes, not all, were kind of off. It seemed very rushed, and not properly thought of. It kind of made me hesitant to continue with the series. But thank goodness I kept on watching, because the finale was pretty cool. It wasn't something epic, but it wasn't something. . .not epic, too. All in all, this series is a very heart-warming, yet action packed show that is filled with many great hidden, and open messages!
So my rating for this show would be about: 8.44/10. :) (It might change throughout the years, but for now, I'm feeling an 8.44) But just because I gave it that rating, doesn't mean that it's not good. It's still an amazing show. You might like it better than me. It's all about personal preference. Hopefully this review was helpful!
22 Jump Street (2014)
This has got me laughing my pants off!
Before I went to go and watch this movie; I will be honest - I was a bit hesitant. I wasn't sure if it could live up to it's first film (21 Jump Street). Especially when it comes to comedic movies, it's hard to surpass the first result. However, the powerful duo (Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum) pulled it through. These two were meant to be put together for such films. They made it happen, along with the other side characters such as, Ice Cube, his daughter in the movie, etc. The acting was pretty great. Yes, it's no movie that requires much thinking or one that will leave you speechless at the end, and such. However, it's a touching & funny film that had (and still will have) the whole crowd laughing crazily. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, from the very start of the movie, hooked the audience by their antics and hilarious disputes/conversations. The side characters acting skills were just as amazing - they, too, have you laughing your pants off. The setting was pretty cool, and the soundtrack (although too mainstream for me), did add to the adrenaline the viewers felt throughout the film. It was entertainment, and a party at the same time. Overall, the craziness is just as spectacular (or possibly even better in other people's eyes) as the first movie. I suggest you all to watch it if you're looking for some fun entertainment to lighten up your day! You'll be heading home, already on YouTube, searching for "Funny scenes in 22 Jump Street" in know time! Hopefully, this review was helpful! :)
The Fosters (2013)
Not Giving Up On It Yet
When I first started watching this show, I thought, "Hm...pretty interesting, it has potential." I enjoyed the first few couple of episodes. Lots of drama to keep you entertained, and kept us tuned in for next weeks episode. However, I'm beginning to find that as each episode progresses, it becomes more and more predictable, and less entertaining.
The acting is exceptionally okay. There is Jake T.Austin, previously starred on a Family TV show called, Wizards of Waverly Place, Teri Polo, Sherri Saum, etc. The entire cast all do well, with a few cracks here and there, but nonetheless, still okay.
The story lines are becoming a bit repetitive now, and boring each and every episode. It's not the worst show ever created, but it's also not the best show created, IMO.
To be honest though, I'd recommend this show to people because I do have to admit, this show does send out great, positive, moral messages to the whole family. It is a heart-warming show, along with some great scenes. Give it a try. I'm sure not giving up on it.
The Cheetah Girls (2003)
Give This Movie a Break
Alright, now that everyone has bashed the movie, and mentioned some of the negative points, I'm going to write a review based on all the positive aspects of this movie.
So, pretty much all the users have already summed up what this movie is mainly focused on - 4 teenage girls, living an ordinary life, who want to achieve their goal of becoming a well-known pop group. Then mixed with some dramatic scenes, romantic scenes, and also some family love shown.
Firstly, I believe the introduction to this movie is a very good way to start the film off with - 4 best-friends chilling outside, dancing, and having a good time in general. What's so bad about that?
The characters grow on me as well. They're portraying how teenagers are, and I must say the portrayals are spot on - well, majority of the times. Galleria - strict on what she wants to accomplish, is straight-forward, and doesn't think before what she says...it's not until the very end where she realizes all her mistakes, and that she truly needs her friends back. Chanel - is Galleria's "home-girl" in the movie. She's a pretty rich gal, but can get lonely at times as her mom is rarely at home. Dorinda - a girl who lives for dancing, which is the only thing that really keeps her going when times get rough, besides her friends. We slowly find out, that she lives in a foster home, to which her friends don't find out until later into the movie. Aqua - this girl's main passion is for fashion! She's the diva type of the group, the "glamorized" one, who can get pretty nasty as well when drama comes into action.
I feel like the film also displayed the relationships between the teens, and their families, to a great extent. I mean, you don't really get those moments anymore in Disney films.
Overall, this movie, in a way, can be viewed negatively, and/or positively. It's all based on personal preference. I like to give all movies a chance, and see good in them, especially Disney movies. However, now-a-days, the films in Disney are becoming more unrealistic, and the moral of the story-lines...they're just out of tune. Back in the day, the Cheetah Girls were all kids/teens mostly talked about, it was the "it" movie that everyone had to watch.
Moral of the overall film in my opinion is: In order to reach your goal, you must put all your effort into it, even though you know you'll fall down at times. However, the ability to stitch all the rough patches together, and learn from all your mistakes; you'll have the strength to rise back up to the top, and aim for your one ultimate goal.
Matilda (1996)
Classic Disney Film
Although I watched this movie years ago...I still enjoy watching it from time to time to this day! It truly is a classic fantasy film that the whole family can view & enjoy! Great director, great actors/actresses, great film! Never was there a dull moment in the film. Always filled with something for everyone to be excited for. The overall plot line is magnificent. Actually, I might go and see it right about now, due to the fact that this is an outstanding movie! I recommend you to watch this film if you haven't yet - you're missing out! No really, go watch it! You'll be astonished by the impressive acting, and the storyline in general.
Trapped (2012)
Well Done Movie
Honestly, this film deserves more than a 4.1/10. This is a low-budget film, and to be honest, I barely recognized that it was. From the phenomenal camera shots, to the amazing acting, this movie couldn't have been better. I absolutely agree with the user who commented above about the film. Except that, I quite enjoyed the blurry effect the director gave to the scenes - it felt a bit more real, and added emphasis to what was going on. The script in this movie - spot on! Overall, I suggest that people deciding whether to watch this movie or not, should go watch it - it definitely is worth it. I too was pondering the fact of whether to watch it or not, but I'm glad I did. You can never judge a movie based on it's cover or ratings from a couple of viewers...view the movie for yourself, and judge it for yourself.
