Outlaw King (2018)
Much better than braveheart
Braveheart was not historically correct even by a long shot. It was tedious with all the slow-motion, the overemphaces on the character of murron, and too much Hollywood. They did not make that mistake here. Off couse the person of Robert the Bruce is a little too nice in this movie but historically they depict the events fairly correctly. Nice to see James Douglas character playing a big part, cause he was a big reason for Bruce's success, because he installed much fear within the English. Lovely to see a more realistic depiction of historical events.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang (1999)
Back to thee holosuite
Not a good episode. We need more Garak, Worf, Gul Dukat, Quark and war. Not Vic Fontaine and Kassidy Yates. This is ocean's 11 (the 60ies movie) but there is no excitement. Probably cause the time is going to too short in 1 episode to do it justice.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Emperor's New Cloak (1999)
Mirror universe
Although most of the mirror universe episode are far from interesting, this one was Allright. Maybe because it involved my favourite characters: Garak and Quark. I always loved the secret torches Quark carried for jadzia and now Ezri, it makes him more human. And Garak has always been my favourite character. I found the interactions between Worf and Garak in the alternate universe the previous time quite hilarious. Here they don't have that many scenes together but they are still brilliant. Worf with his fiery, blunt character like an elephant in a China cupboard and Garak trying to dance around him made me LOL. So all in all not the best episode but quite oké.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Take Me out to the Holosuite (1998)
Baseball?
To anyone who is not American this episode is not interesting. Mostly, cause hardly any one outside the USA plays this game, and therefor does not understand the rules. It was boring.
The only interesting thing is that we see the cast interact with each other.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: You Are Cordially Invited (1997)
1 wedding and 1 funeral
A lighter episode after the war. Wedding bells for Dax and Worf. The men in the wedding party have to go trough grueling tasks, cause Klingons are all about who can suffer the most. The part where Julian and O Brien are hanging from the rafters above a fire is absolutely hilarious. I was in stitches over this scene
Dax and her friends, meanwhile are having a hell of a party and a good time. By the I have to give kudos for the actor playing Quark. He makes the character feel quite attractive and sexy, even through all those prosthetics and make up.
Needless to say the klingon way and Dax' "don't take everything too serious" spirit clash.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Shattered Mirror (1996)
Mirror mirror on the wall
Another mirror universe episode. The only thing that stands out here is the enjoyable spacebattle and the hilarious interaction between Worf and Garak. The rest is standard. Also I love Dax's hairstyle in the mirror universe.
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Quite possibly, the worst movie ever
Struggling to get through this. When the key maker came on the scene, that 's it, I gave up. Pseudo intellectual garbage. The first one was Allright, but this one... Forgettable
Black Panther (2018)
Serkis gets 5 points, the 1 point is for the tongue of the Rhino
Only good thing about this was Andy Serkis, the rest is a mishmash of cgi and "the lion king" meets "coming to America".
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Disgusting movie with completely the wrong message
This was basically a snuff movie that celebrated violence. In the end you see the reserected Jesus get up and walk out of the grave, with the determination and movements of a soldier. That is NOT what Jesus was about.
Poirot: Murder on the Orient Express (2010)
Better than the movie with Kenneth Branagh, better the book even in my opinion
I never really liked this story. In the book and in most adaptations Poirot discovers almost immediately that it has something to do with Daisy Armstrong. It felt very contrived. Here he finds out gradually. He also discovers only at the end the connections most passengers have with the armstrong family. And I like that he almost casually gives his dénouement, not this big theatershow that he usually gives. I think this is ranked just behind the movie with Albert Finney, which was very true to the book, but whom I could not stand as Poirot by the way. I thought he was an annoying character in that movie. I like this adaptation very much, and it has the one and only "real" Poirot. Usually movies and TV butcher the story, here I thought it made changes to the things the book did not do right.
Stargate SG-1: The Changeling (2003)
Great episode
Tealc is tossed from what seems to be a dream and reality, and doesn't know how to deal with his fear and is not really sure what is happening. The viewer gets tricked into thinking that 1 part of the storyline is "realty" until "a certain guest star" point out to Tealc/the viewer that neither are real.
It is great to see Christopher Judge getting more opportunity to show his acting abilities than his usual stoic "Indeeds" and raising his eye brown. The parts where Tealc interacts with Dr daniel jackson were very moving and Michael shanks really succeeds in bringing emotional and heartfelt moments to this episode. The way Daniel's voice breaks in the last scene, gave this just enough power to bring on the waterworks with the audience without overdoing it. Had it been more it would have been over the top, but both actors manage to find just the right balance.
Great episode with good acting from Christopher Judge and Michael shanks.
Stargate SG-1: Forever in a Day (1999)
Likeable
Although it is not the most exited episode, Michael shanks delivers a good acting job. He performance is very moving and sincere as his character comes to terms with his wife's death and his guilt about it
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
We needed this
Loved the pace of the show, and the way we slowly get to know the characters. On my 5th episode, and the captain and science officer are the most interesting and intriguing characters so far. This show is more like deep space nine, a little darker than the other cookie cutter two good shoes that the next generations was. The lead character is somewhat overdramatic
