Fantastic Four (2005)
Who were the Fantastic Four
Okay who made the Fantastic Four? 1. Jessica Alba as the Invisible Girl. Where her breathe taken beauty was enough. Jessica also again brings such an innocence to these characters she's portraying! She's not "cast" (or chosen to play roles that she's "HOT"), but more or less a woman whom you can't help fell in love with, because she's so pure.
2. Chris Evan as the Human Torch. He's the break out star of the Fantastic Four! The character brought to life (& then some) that I know & love when reading the Fantastic Four comics! He manages to steal every scene each time.
3. Michael Chiklis as The Thing. Who didn't want to be a Superhero as a young boy? Michael brings to screen how it's not great to be a Superhero. ((This is a complement trust me)). What I'm trying to convey is sure the character the Thing is a member of the Fantastic Four & the "Strong Man" but look at deformity.
4. Julian McMahon as Dr. Doom. Julian really does have a certain Christa about him. Under used in this movie & could of been used much more.
Finally......every Hero has it's Villain right? Well the Villain in this review is...
Michael France as the writer. Ugh. With past failures as The Punisher & Hulk studios really need to have someone write the ending of his movies, because again the climax of the movie (which is after all the most important part of the movie) fails again.
Batman Begins (2005)
Batman Begins to Rule Again
Great, great, great, great, great.
This is the story of Batman should have been told.
I tell you, hiring A list actors, really............does make a difference.
Forget what you saw with Adam West version of Batman. Forget Tim Burton's boring plot. Forget those Bat Nipples. & most of all forget George Clooney.
Christain Bale didn't just play Billionaire Playboy Bruce Wayne/Batman. HE WAS BATMAN!
Oh man.............I can't wait to see this again.
Also, you got to give credit were credit is due.
Chris Nolan the director. Thank you, it's a true MASTER PIECE.
My only complaint now is waiting for the sequel....
This so far is the BEST movie for 2005.
Mean Girls (2004)
Mean Critics
I have to start off by being honest here. I had absolutely no desire to see this movie (at first). At the time I was in my late 20's & having to watch yet anther movie about the "new kid" getting revenge on the "school bullies" has been overplayed. -ugh However.......that was not this movie! I was glad this movie won some awards at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, because otherwise, I would had not rented (soon will be purchasing) this movie.
********Minor Spoiler Alert********** It's more of an opinion I guess, but I found the main character, Lindsay Lohan to be the meanest girl. Though I'm sure others will argue differently, but at the same time, that's what works about this movie.
I'm sure many of know girls or women who "plays mind games" with one another, but yet act like their "friends". ha ha ha ha I'm was not a Lindsay Lohan nor a Tina Fey fan, but I have to admit, they won me over in this movie.
A movie for all ages & funny enough a good moral in the mix of it all.
The Notebook (2004)
Trust me, I'm not gay.
I'm sure right about now, the "male readers" are thinking to themselves, "this guy is gay. I mean come on, a guy rating a 'chick flick' movie a 10".
I have to admit, I'd certainly think the same thing, but trust me, I'm far from being gay.
It's funny, because I'm like most guys who ends up getting trapped into seeing a movie their wife or for others their girlfriend wants to see.
Great........another, "Guy meets girl, guy has secret & pretends to be something he's not. Guy tries to reveal secret, but something prevents him from doing so. Girl then learns of this secret & breaks up with guy. In the end, guy wins back girl". Ugh.........please put a bullet in my head! The Notebook is NOT one of those "original romantic movie".
I'm very impressed with the storyline here. It also touches something that many humans suffer from, but I won't give it away.
That, the acting, & the chemistry is what really works here.
See for yourself.
The New Batman Adventures (1997)
Underrated
Batman: Gotham Knights was definitely one of the most underrated series. I read how one user felt that Batman became too "cold", but that's what works about Gotham Knights. No offense, but that's Batman. He's not exactly one of the Care Bears who is gonna light up your day. Batman is in fact, moody, not a team player, & very hard with his partners. Which I feel lead to some GREAT future tales. Such as Batman Beyond, Justice League, & Justice League Unlimited.
The writing has raised the bar on GREAT stories. In particularly, "Old Wombs", which I consider to date the BEST episode in not just the Batman Universe, but in animated as well.
I hope these will soon be release on DVD!
X2 (2003)
X-Cellent
Come on......
This movie works on some many levels.
The Story: 10 (Keeps the audience entertained through out the entire film).
The Protral of Characters from Comics to Film: 10 (Hugh Jackman despite being too tall, is WOLVERINE. Same goes for Ian, Patrick, Rebecca, Anna, James, Franke, & the actor who played Ice Man).
Director: 10. Brian Singer truly is one of the many reasons why this film works!!! Being a "comic book geek" & very critical when it comes to "Comic Book Movies", Brian Singer lived up to my expedation! Good Job Brian.
Can't wait until the sequels!!
Spider-Man (2002)
The Hollywood Spider-Man
First and foremost, let me just say, I support Hollywood making "comic book" movies.
Then let me add that "Spider-Man" was my favorite "comic book superhero" for a number of years!
However, what lacked in this film was the character himself, "Spider-Man".
Tobey McGuire performance as Peter Parker was a 9 out of 10, but as Spider-Man.......ehh.....
Now don't mistaken me, it's NOT Tobey's fault, but the writer & more importantly the "overrated" director Sam Ramni.
The MAIN reason why the comic book character Spider-Man has been around for 40 plus years, is because of his "sense of humor".
No matter how many times you watch Spider-Man, there's no "Wise Cracks" from our hero.
Other things didn't work too for me.
Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane. I was excited at first when I heard she'd be portraying Mary Jane, but I can tell you, the name in the movie might have been "MJ", but IT CERTAINLY WASN'T MJ from the comics that I loved.
William Dafoe did a GREAT job, Tobbey, & the actor who portrayed J.J. Jameson, but with a new Writer, Director, & Mary Jane, this can actually be the Amazing Spider-Man, oppose to Hollywood Spider-Man.
Vanilla Sky (2001)
Open Your Eyes
This is without a doubt Tom Cruise best film to date.
It's a Deep Movie & if you don't enjoy movies where you have to process what you just saw, then stick with your typical, "Guy meets girl, guy has secret, girl finds out secret, guy loses girl, guy at the end of the movie wins back girl" -ugh
The music for various scenes really works, the chemistry between Penelope & Tom is believable, Cameron Diaz shows the audience that really can act, oppose to just shaking her butt.
Vanilla Sky is one of those movies that each time you view it, you have a different interpretation of what it's really about. In a sense the viewer then concludes theory of what the movie is really about.
Daredevil (2003)
The Devil Dared Me!
Daredevil is a comic book series from Marvel Comics. Looks like Marvel Comics (again) is going to hear the sound of the cash register, because this movie was EXCELLENT!
Though I have to admit I had my doubts. Especially for when I already know about Daredevil and the setting.
Having a Black Kingpin, for in the comics the Kingpin is White!?!? Also, the character Elektra in the comics is Greek, not White!?! Finally, having the villian Bullseye, with no custome!?!?
However through out the course, I could not envision a better Kingpin than Michael Clarke Cuncan.
I ended up liking the Scar on Bullseye head better, than the "Comic Book" costume.
A truly must see movie.
If you thought Jack Nicolson was good as the "Joker" then I DARE you go see Daredevil and tell me that Colin Farrel as Bullseye was as good, if not better!
Mirror Images II (1993)
Double the Pleasure
Okay, let's be honest.
If you are renting this movie, you're looking to "relieve" some tension, so now the question will be, is it worth your $2.50? Mmm.....
You'll get to see Shanon Whirry is a dual role, which means double the plaasure.
One as the Bad Girl and the other as the Good Girl.
Acting is BY FAR much better than your typical B-Flick, with a decent plot, but then again, that's not why you are renting.
I would HIGHLY recommend seeing this flick if you are looking to "relieve" some tension.
