Interstellar (2014)
Best sci-fi movie in years
I almost never find movies, that I find worthy of a review, however, I am in a situation in life, where I find joy in very very few things, being a paranoid, drug-abuser, who lost EVERYTHING in the course of 6 months (Family, car, apartment, girlfriend) being a patient at a psycich ward, I found this movie so touching that I had to praise it.
Matthew McConaughey, Mackenzie Foy, Michael Caine and Anne Hatthaway, all performed, so intriguingly and masterfull, that I was wept in tears throughout the unravelling of the movie.
I mostly enjoy sci-fi movies like, Star trek and AvP movies, I just want to tell you, this is worth watching, even if you're not into non action movies.
A true masterpiece and the best Sci-fi movie I have watched for several years!
Immortals (2011)
Clash of the titans once again??
Am I the only one tiring of Hollywood movies of "Greek mythology", which in fact doesn't have the slightest authentic twist one could expect, I mean these movies are far from the real mythology, fake stories, god's that doesn't have the same abilities as in the real stories, the list is long.
Movie was full of cliché's, semi bad acting, a lot of abstract kind of symbolizing (I mean a burning iron bull with a trumpet inside over a fire?!) It's like these movies tries to imitate "Troy", just with big of lack of plot, and these "creatures" which seems to be a result of some 12 year olds lack of imagination.
The Gods doesn't seem great and "Godlike", fighting scenes seems fast forwarded, and there is far from this sense of "Greatness" in the big battle scenes as you see in Troy or 300 for example.
I felt bored and annoyed with the film, and the actors..
In my book, not worth to watch..
Clash of the Titans (2010)
Sam Worthington/Liam Neeson > Clash of the titans
I payed 65 bucks to go see this Movie in 3D, apart from the lousy 3D effects (Which were almost non existent, think I noticed 3D effect 2 times throughout the movie) The movie was recorded in so dark scenes, that it was literally impossible to see anything but silhouettes at times..
When it comes to the movie itself, I must say I expected a so/so movie, and was abit disappointed, being a huge fan of Greek mythology and NOT having watched the original Clash of the Titans, I found it highly "amusing" that Kraken, a non mythical creature, originating from ancient Scandinavian sailor tales (About a giant squid) found its way to Greek mythology, also it seemed incredibly much like a giant ripoff from Pirates of the Caribbean.
The storyline seemed pretty tame and not honoring the Greek mythology, but of course I assume that its because its copying the original.
The monsters, specially the Huge scorpions and they way they were coming to live seemed incredibly original, also the once good king who had turned evil, and is helping Hades (Cant remember his name) reminded me of some minotaur from the Odysseus movie from what? the 50's? Also hades a king of the underworld, seemed more to me, like a weaker, more evil version of Gandalf the Grey, just with a much worse actor..
-- Also, Im sorry to see, Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson in this movie, cause it made me lose something for them as actors (I love them normally) ALL IN ALL; Three stars from me, one for Neeson, one for Worthington and One for Mads Mikkelsen (Yes Im a dane)
The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009)
BAD BAD BAD and not funny at all..
Well I had high expectations about this movie, as the trailers looked awesome! However, I must say, the humor of the movie seemed pretty much non existent to me, I simply failed to see any fun it in "AT ALL", and Im NOT critical when it comes to movies, for gods sake I watch Ferris Buelers day off and find it amusing! (Partly a joke) Let me try to sum it up... I watched this movie, and all I can remember about it, is that some nerd meet's a WACKO military guy (Clooney) and they embark on a god forsaken mission of misery, filled with fourth grade humor.. If they tried making a bad interpretation of a Monthy Python movie, by all means, they did it!
Avatar (2009)
It rocked my world!
I watched this movie late, (2/2-2010) and had gotten quite different opinions about it, also the ticket price of nearly 30 bucks (Yes I live in Denmark) annoyed me..
I went into the cinema, without really knowing what to expect, except a movie with overwhelming special effects, and maybe a rather americanized storyline, with all the cliché's that goes with it.
Let me just say, the first 30 minutes of the movie was so-so, I had a little problems adjusting to the 3D glasses, and also the movie wasn't all started up really.
But the universe that unfolded, blew me away, the beautiful world, the spectacular creatures, the realistic movements and so on, was simply fantastic! The storyline was actually not overly exciting, but Cameron somehow managed to make a world, that for my own sake, went straight to my heart, and I almost wished when the movie was over, that I could stay in that world forever.
The characters were lively, and I loved them all, they also went to a point where you felt with them, as the tragedies of the film unraveled.
I usually see myself as a rather tough person, you know bald, buff, not afraid of a fight or stuff like that, but there were certain times I was dangerously close to crying throughout this movie.
All in all, I expected a lot, but I got more..
Viva la Bam (2003)
CKY2K > Bam Margera
Anyone remember the first CKY, CKY2K etc..? Back when it was about making crazy cool stuff, rather than watching Bam Margera act like a douchebag, spoiled 5 year old, super/rock-star wannabe.
The show used to be awesome, however, Bam's fame and wealth has led him to believe, that we now enjoy him acting childish and idiotic, more than actual cool stuff, that used to be in ex. CKY2K.
The acts are so repetitive, there's like nothing new, except annoying stupidity and rehearsed comments... The only things we see is Bam Margera, so busy showing us how much he doesn't care, how much money he got or whatsoever.
I really got nothing much left to say except, give us back CKY2K, cause Bam suck..
I enjoy watching Steve-o, Knoxville etc. a thousand times more.
Plaguers (2008)
Plaguers, if you think the title implies that its a bad movie? You were wrong, its far worse..
I was looking around for something to watch a Saturday evening, and really couldn't find anything, so I stumbled across Plaguers and thought, "wow that title sounds pretty lame", but I decided to give it a chance, because the front cover looked decent.
Although I expected a B-movie, I was shocked how much worse this movie showed up to be, the acting was very bad, not even the death screams seemed "realistic", and the actors seems like they need to have some kind of choreographic training, cause even their movements seemed very unprofessional.
I mean, when you are watching this (playtime movie), and thinking you would rather watch Battlestar galactica, something is definitely wrong, I even doubt this movie had a higher budget than even one episode of Battlestar Galactica, and the acting is actually worse (Damn, I thought that would be impossible) The effects are like the first star wars movie from like? the 70'ies? just much much worse.
All in all, it will hardly be difficult to find something better to do, than spending 1,5 hours watching this movie, whatever day at the week, on whatever time of the day.
