The Final Reel (2016)
Lost Opportunity
A lost opportunity to tell the story of Cinema in Norfolk. Concentrating mainly on Norwich and no mention of the almost 70 cinema's in the area. For example The County at Aylsham. The first cinema before Norwich to install Cinemascope. No mention of Colin Aldiss who kept Cinema going in East Dereham. Hardly a mention of Douglas Bostock who had a chain of cinema's in the area. Cromer over a hundred years old and still running. The Fisher family at Stalham who built their own. John Browne of Downham Market who took 20th Century Fox to task to allow the Regent to show "The Sound of Music". list is endless . Just a photo of some of these buildings would have sufficed but no mention at all. The Regal Wymondham quite rightly gets a mention being one of the last independents to keep running for a number of years but sadly it's mainly Norwich.
Almost five years this project took to put together such a shame and I repeat a lost opportunity....
