HAHA, yeah as you can see I LOOOOOOVED this movie more than any other. I saw it 6 times already! It deserves to be placed on a throne as the best film of all time! It had everything one could want in a movie, and more. There was action (who in their right minds could argue that?) throughout the whole thing, drama, romance, Heroism, Beauty, adventure and even a little comic relief provided by two lovable hobbits and Gimli, as well as a few sarcastic comments from Gandalf.
The acting was very good all around, but I have to give some MAJOR kudos to Sean Astin (Sam), Andy Serkis (Voice and body movements of Gollum/Smeagol), Sir Ian McKellan (Gandalf), Miranda Otto (the first STRONG BUTT KICKING FEMALE in the trilogy, Eowyn) and Viggo Mortenson. Elijah Wood, of course deserves credit also. Being the worlds biggest Sam worshipper, I was so moved by his performance, which stirred at so many people's emotions. I can't imagine anyone portraying his devotion and loyalty to Frodo (who was a bit of a...'jerk' to put things nicely, although it's not really his fault). Aragorn's rousing peptalk to his men was beautiful, and Ian McKellan proved for the 3rd time that Gandalf is the coolest elderly man in the history of the world!
I was reading the comments and I just had to say to the person who said they could have left out so much including the subplot with the 'nutty old king and his son', that you obviously have never read the books. Even without the books it's obvious that it was an important part of the trilogy, giving us another person to dispise and adding a lot of emotional value. Denethor was insane, and his part in the book and the movie is really needed...anyway I was a little ticked off about that but that's off topic.
Basically this is the most wonderful movie of all time, the special effects are AMAZING (Oliphaunts, Nazgul, Shelob (spider) and Gollum especially), the actors where so moving, the dialouge (for the most part) was entertaining and it is just FABOULOUS. I guess I should leave a bit of critisism but it's very difficult. The 6 or 7 endings were a little bit annoying, but I'd be even angrier if they weren't there at all. Besides considering how there were about 5 or 6 chapters after mount Doom, P. Jackson did well with that.
RATING (out of possible 10) 7508630507236504510451205402050410! Deserves: Best Picture of the Year, Best Director, Numerous Best Actors and Supporting Actor Awards and all the Techies. Reccommended: TO EVERYONE (who has seen the first two)
