Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020)
A treat to all cinematic minds!
Hansal Mehta has crafted this story to utmost perfection. The Dialogues are so impressive yet effortless that you are hooked to the episodes one after the other. Pratik Gandhi is already a star, flawless performance by him playing Harshad Mehta. That's the name he will be referred by for quite a while now.
The supporting cast has done wonders to the outcome of the show, each one leaving its mark on the screen. Rajat Kapoor hats off to your superb work in the last two episodes. Finally, if you miss this show, you will be missing out on something great.
Karwaan (2018)
Watch it if you have nothing else to do/ just for irfan khan
It works on the same lines as of TVF Tripling, those who haven't watched the show might like the movie. the events taking place in the movie are so much like how it happens in the show there is barely any difference.
I also got a bit annoyed with how unnecessary events were been put up in the story just to drag the road trip.
Also how casually the story went about the deaths in the family, it was just done to make it look offbeat but it didn't come across as one.
Dalquer did a good job but he could have chosen a better film as a first one in Bollywood.
However Irfan is the one who makes this movie watchable, he is just too good of an actor.
Thoroughbreds (2017)
Fresh take on Modern Thrillers
Just came across this movie while randomly surfing on IMDB. I was so captivated by the film just a few minutes into it. The movie impressed me with its strange plot and way it is told, I mean the storytelling is really good and fresh in its own way. The two main characters are offbeat and amazingly performed by Anya and Olivia, the credit of which also goes to the director.
What really led me into writing a review is because I want more of such film to come out. Also you need much conviction to write and direct such a script. Clearly its a great effort by Cory Finley.
PS: Watching it once is no harm, its a really good thriller and Olivia Cooke is superb.
Sacred Games (2018)
Its a great piece of writing, editing, directing & acting
This show is such a brilliant blend of writing, direction, performances and editing. from the first scene to the last it doesnt loose its grip with its amazing work of writing and editing.
Nawazuddin plays the gangster in the most authenic way and his narration makes it even better, he alone adds so much value to this show. his work is simply genius
Saif finally has landed with a role that gives him some ground to perform well, i was personally surprised with his performance. this reminded me of his few good roles in the past.
Radhika apte plays a balanced role which is what was needed, not overperfoming a character is a good thing.
Neeraj Kabi is suberb in portrayal of a currupt policeman. he is one of the reasons why i loved this show to this extent.
Anurag and Vikram both have shot thier parts flawlessly and its on another level coz they connect the 2 seperately shot stories so perfectly.
I recommend it to all cinema lovers across the world, its a great piece of filmmaking.
October (2018)
Varun Dhawan has finally proved himself
Its a beautiful portrayal of two people's lives. I could have easily got bored with the basic story the movie, but the performances, direction, cinematography just creates magic on the screen and makes one feel the essence of the film.
Varun Dhawan gives a performance of his career by far, the best I have seen by him yet. Banita is also very natural in portraying her character.
October has a really good music score which sets you in the mood. I Really liked the Cinematography too.
Shoojit Sircar gives another beautiful piece of cinema to movie lovers that has never been seen in a long time.
Mukkabaaz (2017)
wow! that was surprisingly good
I can see this movie really finding its audience a few years from now. as of now nobody is talking about it much but this movie is a classic for me, its different from other mainstream boxing movies in a good way. the actor in lead role translates to the audience the hard work he has put in for the role which is commendable. Anurag grips the movie really well, finally he is back with what he is best at.
Performances are really worth a watch, out of which I want to especially mention jimmy's performance, It totally stood out for me.
I can see this piece of cinema getting its credit in sometime from now just like UGLY did.
Zodiac (2007)
this is my favorite movie
i still watch parts of this movie every now and then, it still leaves a mark every single time. that's the magic it has. the amount of detailing with which this film is crafted is spellbinding, the movie is so well balanced with details and thrill that it doesn't bore me for one bit even though its runtime is almost 3 hours long. it just keeps me glued even after repeated viewings.
Jake gyllenhaal gives one his best performances ever. mark ruffalo is almost perfect in his character. downey jr. does his job well too. I didn't find anything wrong with the portrayal of this story.
for me its a benchmark for thrillers. David fincher you're a genius.
A Death in the Gunj (2016)
Such movies set the bar for bollywood
From start to finish this movie keeps you glued to the characters sharing the screen. its full good performances by the new actors, but the guy who plays shutu steals the show!
the direction is beautiful it sets the tone of the movie just about right. I was really impressed by the atmosphere created by the filmmaker to guide the script as the movie progresses.
overall its a brilliant piece of cinema, for me its this years masaan.
The Babadook (2014)
a MUST watch for horror fans!
The Babadook, the name doesn't appeal much as a viewer, I came to know about this movie recently and frankly i wasn't expecting much when it started, but this movie just blew me away, its has some brilliant performances by the actors and the way this movie escalates its amazing. Its a really well made horror film and is way much better than other movies of the same genre recently released also it came out to be one of those psychological thrillers which hook you up. it doesn't lack the intensity like other stereotypical horror films. So i think its a must watch for fans of this genre, this movie its definitely not worth a miss.
