Salvation (2017–2018)
9/10
One hell of a story wirth great characters
22 January 2024
After reading a lot of the reviews here of Salvation I'm wondering if people were watching the same series as I did, or what they were expecting.

The story is not a new one and has been multiple times before but it's how it plays out and the characters involved that makes this so entertaining to watch. An asteroid on a collision course with Earth and what can be done to avoid it happening, world power struggles, domestic power struggles, individual power struggles, terrorist threats, social and domestic threats, dark secrets (kept hidden and revealed), strained (private and known) relationships past and present, but all involving flawed people. Which made this series so very interesting to watch. None of the characters in Salvation are perfect or anywhere near it. When you come to love and hate the characters because of what they say and do, for various personal reasons, you know the acting is top class because you're believing in them as real people. I guess life's experiences makes it different for everyone in that respect.

There's not a dull moment in the 26 episodes, which got very few groans from me and a lot of wide eyed astonishment, shouts of "NO! Don't do this!", and also many chuckles at times. Although this show is not intended to be comical in any way there were quite a few times it did make me laugh out loud - mainly because of something Darius Tanz said or did. You'll experience people struggling in their individual lives, with the threat of impending doom hanging over them and making all the right and wrong decisions they make along the way, and mistakes for all right and wrong reasons.

If you're looking for a feel good factor when people do the right thing for the right reasons and save the day as a result, Salvation is not for you. This rollercoaster of a story will hit the highs and lows of human triumphs and infallability with all those who can appreciate putting themselves in the same position.

I gave Salvation 9 out of 10 because each episode kept me intensely interested and motivated from start to finish. I am hard pressed to criticise any of it and I highly recommend watching it from start to end.

65 (2023)
6/10
Same story but different movie
14 December 2023
Adam Driver is outstanding, as always. That's all this movie has going for it, sadly, and why I gave it 6/10. The story is one we've all seen before, many times over, albeit in another time and another place (as per usual). If you're an Adam Driver fan then you will love this but there's not much else going for it. I managed to watch it all the way through but really I should have given up after 20 minutes or so. Even though the acting was top notch the story didn;t really go anywhere or offer anything entertaining that I haven't sdeen before and not done anywhere near as well as other movies. There's nothing wrong with the settings or lighting or cinematography or CGI as it's all done really well, but there's just nothing new or interesting about the storyline or events of this movie. I wouldn't even recommend it if you're bored or class it as a memorable sci-fi film for a rainy day, unless you were struggling to find any alternatives. You may not agree here but in my opinion, if Hollywood expects people to pay good money to watch a great movie then they need to come up with a lot higher entertainment factor than what 65 has to offer.

Retribution (I) (2023)
3/10
Weak entertainment at best
11 November 2023
I've seen some great movies starring Liam Neeson but this is certainly not one of them. From the outset this storyline contains multiple questionable words, actions, and events that left me shaking my head in disbelief. There's nothing I can say about it that's endearing or worth wasting your time watching it for. If you are bored and/or like movies such as Speed, then don't bother with this one or go watch that other movie instead because the plot is laughable at best and unbelieable at worst. No matter how hard I try to think of something good to say about this movie I'd have to be in denial in order to do so. I've given it a 3/10 because the acting wasn't that bad but everything else really was. Oh dear, oh dear.

Black Knight (2023– )
9/10
South Korea 1 - 0 USA (final score)
25 June 2023
Ignore all the negative reviews this series. Especially those which allude to Black Knight being a $2Billion Hollywood blockbuster that failed to reach its audience. Shame that those who reviewed it negatively didn't view it objectively or with any impartiality.

Kim Woo-bin steals the show as "5-8" - a legendary delivery man who is the hero of the people in this wonderful post-apocalyptic sci-fi series. He's got the dashing looks, "the look", the voice, the tough-guy walk, with a high level of acting skills, to pull it off remarkably. I totally enjoyed his portrayal of a man who is fighting the odds, and an evil mega corporation, to bring some justice into a very damaged and struggling world.

The cast are all great, and the storyline throughout is a familiar one - albeit told with a twist on who the bad guys really are. This is not very demanding on the brain and you don't have to always read between the lines or put up with major plot holes, because the story moves along at a nice pace and almost everything is explained and/or accounted for easily. Leaving the viewer to experience events without much effort and enjoy the show.

It's a great series and I hope there is a second season. There's certainly much more work for "5-8" to do and plenty of bad people to deal with in Black Knight, that's for sure. I'd love to see more of Kim Woo-bin in this role, and the rest of the cast.

Black Knight is definitely a breah of fresh air for sci-fi and a thoroughly enjoyable one. I'd recommend anyone to watch it from start to finish at least twice.

Defying Gravity: Kiss (2009)
Season 1, Episode 13
9/10
No wonder this series was cancelled
20 December 2022
After watching all 13 episodes of Defying Gravity it's been quite an entertaining experience. However, I'm not surprised the series was cancelled after only 1 season. I'll explain why without any storyline spoilers for those who haven't yet seen the previous episodes.

First of all there's the demented timeline skipping. This happens fequently and usually without any indication that, from one scene to the next, the viewer has been taken back months or years into the past in order to relive events and experiences of the character(s) involved. This is confusing and disorienting as one minute the characters are in one location and in the next breath they're somewhere completely unattached and different. For example, character is having a conversation on the space ship and in next frame the same character is in the gym doing a workout or in the bar drinking with friends. These previous experiences and memories of characters could have all been put into one episode to get them out of the way or at least put them into a timeline that's logical and easier to follow. There's no valid reason to keep skipping in and out of the current timeframe in order to relay events. It makes no sense and ruined the continuity of the story being told to the point where it made me mentally dizzy while trying to keep up.

Then there's occasions where characters totally ignore other people and what's going on around them, often to their detriment, in moments of rational disbelief. Even when higher ranking colleagues are repeatedly barking orders at them they seem to have gone totally deaf and oblivious to their surroundings. This is completely unrealistic and 'made-for-TV' surrealism because in the real world there's no way an astronaut would act this way and if they did they'd be off the space program and burned faster than a micrometeorite entering Earth's atmosphere.

Then there's the storyline in space and the one back on planet Earth, which isn't always contiguous or collated. Again flying around timelines for the sake of ... (dream up a good excuse and insert here because I cannot think of one). I cannot imagine what the writers and directors were trying to do other than make a joke out of bad writing and directing along with poor and weak decisions. This utterly destroyed the show's chances of securing a season 2 in my opinion.

But the real bummer is that the series gets cancelled just as it was becoming interesting. There was a lot of potential in Defying Gravity and if the writers and directors pulled their socks up and told the god damned story, instead of including a soap opera of irrelevant and mundane personal relationship drivel, there might have been a chance for it to succeed. Instead it fell flat on its face and went down quicker than a cast-iron balloon.

The acting was great. The space ship sets were awesome. The idea of the 6 year mission was intriguing and exciting to realise, but it just took too long to get there. Having to endure the character flashbacks etc. Made the story a BIG hard grind rather than anticipated with enthusiasm and excitement. Usually when you tell a story you start at the begining and work towards the end, not add bits in after you've started which took place before the story began. I honestly think the writers must have been hallucinating while writing each episode and then somehow caused the director to hallucinate while filming it. Either that or they are time travellers themselves and are used to this kind of thing.

On a personal note, anything with Peter Howitt starring in it is never going to turn out well. Best thing that he ever did was as 'Joey' in 'Bread' in the early 80s, which isn't anything to boast about at that. Another thing I found laughable was the female astronauts all wore makeup and had their hair done like they were attending a dinner party. Some even applying lip gloss. I mean, really? In space? I wonder how much foundation and lipstick they'd have to take with them to last the entire 6 year mission. Exactly, it's a joke beyond words.

As a result, Maxim Roy, Florentine Lahme, and Christina Cox looked absolutely stunning throughout. Which was part of the attraction of the show for me.

I'll give this 13th episode 9/10 because it was somewhere near the excitement level to what it should have been in episode 5-6. Most of the other episodes were filled with non-relevant ER type dilemmas that had no place in a sci-fi show. Shame that's all we'll ever get because Defying Gravity did have some great promise and potential. It was just badly let down by the writing and directing on a Biblical scale.

Raised by Wolves: The Beginning (2020)
Season 1, Episode 10
1/10
DO NOT waste your time!!!
18 December 2022
I tried to think of something constructive to say about this first season and theis episode finale, but words fail me. The story doesn't make sense. It's well acted but the writers and director could have done so much more, and didn't. In comparison it's like the worst lacklustre TV soap you've ever watched for no reason and feel like you've completely wasted your time waiting for some endearing quality that even slightly raised your interest that never actually manifested itself.

Better to go down to the beach and grab a handful of sand to start counting grains. It's more rewarding and productive.

1/10 and I will NEVER watch another episode of this nonsensical garbage.

Raised by Wolves: Faces (2020)

Questioning IMDB rating and reviews with this series
18 December 2022
The more I watch Rasied By Wolves the more I am confused and puzzled as to why each episode has received such a positive rating with both IMDB and users. This one was garbage because it could have been left out without any impact whatsoever.

Raised By Wolves reminds me of the doomed BBC Sci-Fi series "Outcasts" where the science-fiction element might as well have been omitted in favour of a dark film-noir survival against nature and waring factions script. It's laughable, it truly is, and that's not the fault of the actors (who do a pretty good job considering) but the responsibility lies with writers and directors involved in releasing where-ever the hell this is supposed to be taking the viewer.

Other reviewers have commented that this series is on a road to nowhere with nothing interesting or exciting really going on, or is in the offing, and I am fully inclined to agree. I'm thinking it may be better just to skip to the last episode of the last season to save myself quite a bit of time from not watching everything in between. It's more exciting to watch grass grow than whatever this story is building up to. 3/10 and that's being generous!

Raised by Wolves: Virtual Faith (2020)
Season 1, Episode 3
2/10
Why am I torturing myself with this?
16 December 2022
I'm really starting to question why I'm continuing to watch this series after episode 3. I started watching it because Ridley Scott was involved and maybe I've enjoyed Alien, Blade Runner, and Gladiator too much and have some preconceptions that Raised By Wolves might offer the same level of entertainment and excitement. I fear that this will not be the case, judging by these first few episodes. The storyline is a slow grind and seems to be going nowhere fast. I'll view the next couple of episodes and if things don't start to move forward and progress in a way that's going to keep me rivetted to the screen with enthusiastic anticipation then I will gladly put an end to this masochism. "It's like black and white television with the sound turned off." as the Motorcycle Boy said in Rumblefish. There's more enjoyment in watching paint dry. 2/10 and that's being generous. I really cannot understand why these episodes are receiving such rave reviews from other people. This is supposed to be Sci-Fi not Die-Fi. I've seen more enjoyable Sci-Fi on the Discovery Channel!

Boss Level (2020)
9/10
Absolutely wonderful movie! Must watch Boss Level.
15 December 2022
I'm not usually a fan of Frank Grillo movies, or time-loop storylines, and watched Boss Level mainly because Michelle Yeoh featured in it. However, I was pleasantly surprised just how great it was!

This movie is almost perfect in every way that I did not expect. I assumed it would be more of the already known format of Groundhog Day, Live Die Repeat, etc. But it was much more than that. The acting, locations, soundtrack, are all top notch and storyline keeps you gripped and intrigued throughout. The comedy element, especially from Grillo, is spot on and affords more than a few timely and well placed chuckles due to events and mishaps along the way. There's so much going on and even though some parts of the story and content is vaguely repeated for effect, it doesn't give the impression of 'seen it all before' syndrome that leaves you crying of boredom. This all adds towards one hell of an exciting piece of entertainment for the viewer.

What a wonderful movie Boss Level is, and I would recommend it to anyone - 9/10.

The Orville: Twice in a Lifetime (2022)
Season 3, Episode 6
5/10
Gordon Malloy did not disappoint me... sadly!
14 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Up until this episode I've only come to dislike very few characters throughout the three seasons so far, one being Gordon Malloy. Although the part is played well, it's often how the actor portays the character, more than the storyline he's involved in, which gives me the impression he's an absolute goofball who's been given the pretentious honour of being one of the 'best pilots' in the Union fleet. The same can be said of John LaMarr who seemingly feigned being a goofball in order to mask his questionable and extremely high intelligence. However, with Gordon it would seem more appropriate if he were not at the helm of the Orville and played an irreverant doctor's or nurse's role, or maybe another vocation that didn't involve the management and piloting of the ship. As it is, there's a goofball in a key Union officer's position who shows in this episode just how much that status means to him. I.e. Not a lot when it boils down to it.

On top of everything else, Gordon uses prior knowledge to seek out the girl of his dreams and start a new life and family with her. His reaction to being questioned about the wrongs of doing such things by his Captain perfectly encapsulates my feelings for this character. That's he's selfish and egotistical and completely in it for himself more than anything else. Well done to Scott Grimes for playing the part so well, but such traits would make me very warey and reserved about allowing someone with that mentality anywhere near the command structure or operations of a ship such as the Orville.

"I can't believe I would be that selfish," admits Gordon after he is informed by Ed and Kelly on his former/future deeds in an instance of the alternative timeline. Well, I bought it hook, line, and sinker, because that's the impression I've got from this character all along. 5/10 for this episode as it mainly revolves around Gordon who is, was, and forever will be, a total goofball in my opinion.

Killjoys: One Blood (2015)
Season 1, Episode 6

Do Killjoys ever kill?
5 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Killjoy mantra is "The warrant is all". Meaning that nothing gets in the way of finishing the job. Or at least that's how it should be. However, it isn't.

I've watched the first season up to this episode and so far Dutch and her team have done everything BUT honour the warrant and/or complete the mission. At every stage they've found some moral reason or ethical excuse to do their own thing and discard the parameters of their missions. This eposide is more of the same with a highly decorated RAC operative going rogue and obtaining some black ops device that the company doesn't want anyone to get their hands on. Well, it's wearing thin with me because the RAC bounty hunters are performing more like social workers for "the greater good", whatever that is in the grand scheme of things. If I wanted to see this level of empathy and compassion I'd go watch Star Trek or some other honourably virtuous and noble sci-fi mish-mash.

I'll give the rest of this first season the benefit of the doubt and watch it, BUT... if nothing changes during the remaining episodes then this will be the only season of Killjoys I'll be wasting my time with. 5/10 for this episode because it's the same shenanigans as what I've already seen up until now but in a different location with a few new characters. Nothing new or notable to mention.

Z Nation: Doctor of the Dead (2014)
Season 1, Episode 13
3/10
All over the US map
2 December 2022
In episode 11 the team started out in Monticello, Utah. In episode 12 the team started out in South Park, Colorado. In this episode 13 the team started out west of The Rockie Mountains and were told by Citizen Z to go to Fort Collins in Colarado, approx. 150 miles (1.5 hour drive) from South Park - which is a change from their initial destination of California.

However, it seems that their route from New York to California has taken them on a zig-zag from state to state not in the right direction from start to finish, and have now got to go back to Colorado where they were 3 episodes ago. As time is a factor in getting Murphy to "the lab" this storyline was not well thought out or executed towards that end.

I laugh with each new episode when finding out where the team are located because it's just all over the place and doesn't make any sense to their mission.

Z Nation: Murphy's Law (2014)
Season 1, Episode 12

Are they really heading towards California?
2 December 2022
The previous episode 11 "Sisters of Mercy" had the Z Nation team visiting Monticello, Utah. In this episode 12 "Murphy's Law" the team start out in South Park, Colorado - which is approx. 350 miles (6 hour) drive from Monticello, Utah in the opposite direction of California! Either the producers have shown these episodes out of sequence or the team are zig-zagging all over the post-apocalytic USA on a joyride to nowhere. Remembering that Murphy only has so much time before it's "too late" for him to be useful as a cure to the zombie virus.

This series is really becoming confusing and non-sensical even to its own storyline and events. I wish I could forget about the geography and just enjoy the show but with these kinds of oversights it's somewhat difficult.

Is DJ Qualls a real actor?
2 December 2022
Made it through the previous episodes with some degree of cringing but not too much. Until now.

The whole DJ Qualls 'Citizen Z' storyline is becoming a lame duck joke of an affair. The acting is not good from him but some of his impressions over the radio are decent. I've seen this actor before somewhere and his contributions were just as unmemorable as in this series, but I cannot recall where from exactly (nor do I want to). Yes, the comedy is intended but this isn't comedy so much as torture to watch. Even with knowing it's a sci-fi show this character (or more the portrayal of it) is somewhat pointless and the airtime given to the escapades of 'Citizen Z' has to be fillers for lack of other, more relatable, content from the writers.

I highly suspect there is more of this to come. How long I can stand it is yet to be experienced and discovered. Not much, after this episode.

The Terminal List (2022– )
9/10
Action-packed progressive revenge and corruption
30 November 2022
The Terminal List has received some poor reviews but I'm not sure why. Sure, it's not the most original or unique of storylines, but the action and events more than make up for it. It's a rollercoaster of a ride and shouldn't be taken too seriously, as every movie or series has plot holes and flaws. However, it'll keep your attention and interest until the end credits roll with each episode.

The acting is great. There's a plethora of military jargon that regular viewers might not understand, but then your best friend is Google if you're that into such things. I personally don't welcome accuracy of terminology when it comes down to an avenging protagonist acting a bit like Dirty Harry to win the day. A little explanation or hint at what it all means is prefered. Or else it sounds like Geordie Laforge (of Star Trek TNG fame) predicting what the next unbelievable attempts are with the warp conduit bypass relays, etc.

The reason you might want to watch this is if you're into pretty much non-stop action, killing baddies with quite a bit of gore while doing it (but not too much), and plot twists mixed with a few surprises. This one will keep you on your toes throughout.

Dark Matter: Nowhere to Go (2017)
Season 3, Episode 13

What a way to end a series. WTG Netflix!
28 November 2022
Having watched all 3 seasons of Dark Matter, and enduring the filler episodes which did not tie in with any of the overall storylines, it comes down to Netflix's reputation of cancelling shows well before their time or coming anywhere near to a conclusion. In that respect Dark Matter takes the proverbial biscuit.

Without spoilers, this season has been building up to a crescendo, and just as the storyline hits the point where the predictions all the way through the series come to pass, the end credits start to roll and the audience is left thinking, "WTF?!?! Where's the rest of it???" and they'd be right in asking that question.

The sad reality is that there is no more, because Netflix notoriously doing what Netflix does, have wiped any future seasons of Dark Matter from existence terminated due to low viewership of the previous seaons. So we're left with everything hanging in the ether without any progression of a clue of what happens next. This has to be one of the worst decisions in the history of sci-fi because Dark Matter was really gearing up to be one hell of a ride and enjoyable story.

Dark Matter: Isn't That a Paradox? (2017)
Season 3, Episode 9
3/10
Oh no, not time travel (again)!
28 November 2022
As soon as I read the tagline "Blink Drive self-activates and sends the crew of the Raza 600 years back in time to the friendly 21st century suburbia" it reminded me of Back To The Future, Star Trek The Voyage Home, and all other sci-fi movie/shows that took their protagonist(s) back to Earth's previous/current timeline from the future. It's a storyline that's threadbare due to over-use no matter how it's depicted.

There's no spoilers here but the references to modern day real life in this episode were more than enough to make me cringe. The interactions of the Raza crew with humans is well expected and predictable. The crew's reaction to 21st century Earth is also steroetyped to the hilt. There's nothing in this episode that is relevant to the rest of the Dark Matter storyline and if it was missed out entirely there would be no detriment whatsoever.

I really hate these time travel for no reason fillers that don't make any sense to include. 3/10 for lack of writing effort and creativity.

Dark Matter: Episode #1.5 (2015)
Season 1, Episode 5
7/10
So far, so good? Not entirely.
24 November 2022
I've managed to watch up to episode #1.5 and although the story is intriguing, I'm finding it very hard going with Three, if not almost impossible!

Anthony Lemke might be a great actor but his portrayal of Three is seriously making me groan everytime he's on screen. Three's arrogant, self-assured, belligerent, lying, egotistical and selfish attitude is the kind of thing that get's everyone else killed, usually except themselves. It's so over the top over-acting that it's actually ruining the enjoyment of watching the show for me. One might think this is a Comic Relief effort by him. If this character is antagonistic or negative one more time, or if he comes out with another load of BS to cover for what really happened, when there's no good reason for it whatsoever, I might just stop watching Dark Matter to save my sanity! One might say "...but they're all wanted criminals in a universe that's hunting them" but how did such a person survive in the first place? The others all seem like they have more than 2 brain cells inside their heads but Three is a meathead of unbelievable proportions! It wouldn't be so bad if Three was funny with his attempts at humour or likeable in some way but he just isn't. Ever! Anthony Lemke's delivery is not even dead pan. There's infinitely more credible feeling and emotion from Zoie Palmer who plays an android!

The rest of the cast are believable and the acting is pretty damned good. They have interesting traits that make me want to know more about them and their history. With Three I know what he's going to say before he says it and his character has become so mind-numbingly predictable it's now beyond a joke or something I'm laughing at. I really don't care who he is, what he's done, or where the series plans to take him. I just want him to be the first of the main cast to leave or get killed off. If this guy were part of my crew I wouldn't hesitate to blow him out of an airlock instantly, or arrange for him to encounter a convenient accident. Having to put up with him is viewing torture. It's not just a case of being such a good actor that he plays a character the audience loves to hate. Three's character is prehistorically unoriginal, stuck-record type repetitive, unashamedly forseeable, and it's all becoming very, very boring to endure him compared to the others.

The Last Ship: Warriors (2018)
Season 5, Episode 5
3/10
Non-continuous mish-mash of storylines and timelines
23 November 2022
Not entirely sure what Peter Weller was trying to do in directing this episode but it didn't follow any particular storyline yet included several. Skipping and jumping all over the place every few minutes and sometimes seconds in a timeline that was abstract and disjointed, weithout purpose.

Without including any spoilers, it was hard to keep track of events and characters as the scenes jump from one to another without order or structure. It seems like a confusing mess that took the viewer on a journey of no consequence or for any good reason.

I've watched each episode of The Last Ship and this one just made me look at the screen and ask "What the hell? Why? Who? When?" because I was left totally confused and wondering how this fits into the rest of the series' story. It seems like excerpts from previous episodes that were not indluded and/or dropped on the cutting room floor, and this was a filler episode to make up the season numbers. In my opinion it could have been left out of the entire series, or should have been included in the appropriate episodes which related to the respective fragmented storylines involved.

This is my first bad experience of Peter Weller as a director and I will be watching out for future direction efforts from him with great trepidation. To be fair the previous episodes he's directed have not been that bad at all. One wonders why this is so bad. 3/10 for this episode of The Last Ship, and I'm being overly generous at that!

The Last Ship: In the Dark (2016)
Season 3, Episode 7
3/10
Things viwers were never told before this episode
22 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If you hadn't been paying that much attention to the number of storylines before now, you might have missed that Kara Foster is now Mrs Kara Green (i.e. Kara and Lt. Danny Green are now married) which must have taken place off camera and between seasons because it was never covered in the show itself.

Viewers also find out that, Curtis, the guy who murdered Rachel Scott was actually caught and imprisoned for the crime which is something else that was never mentioned in the show until this episode. Viewers would be forgiven for thinking that Curtis had actually got away with it and there would be some future plot/storyline in the show to cover that eventuality. However, it won't be because in this episode he's in prison serving time for it.

The reporter, Jacob Barnes, is somehow allowed to continue to keep digging for evidence against the President, like a disgruntled wanting to exact revenge. Barnes poses as a lawyer and visits Curtis in prison and gets the story about President Michener's involvement in the Florida survival camp. In a world that's been decimated by the red-flu virus you'd expect the last thing on people's minds would be MSM allowed freedoms like they always have. However, this is how it is.

Good performances by Hiroyuki Sanada as Takehaya and the rest of the regular crew. Another strong nod to the American Dream and line of duty philosophy in many scenes in this episode. I think dropping the bomb that Curtis was caught and imprisoned for murdering Rachel Scott without covering it in the show beforehand is another failure by the writers/directors. I'm starting to laugh each time this happens because, although there's some really accurate military jargon, tactics, and enactments, a lot of the storyline just seems to be thrown in to make ends meet without explanation. 3/10 for this episode.

21 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I have some SERIOUS issues with this episode and storyline! The Last Ship has been really great up to now. SPOILERS ALERT for those who have not watched previous episodes.

The President of the United States, by his own confession, murders his own daughters by strangling/smothering them as they sleep after witnessing the death of his son. He relayed this to Captain Chandler after his suicide attempt in a previous episode. The President carried this out at his dying wife's behest, so he informed the Captain. Captain Chandler told the President that the information would go no further than him. Given that the Presiden'ts daughters were completely innocent of any crimes, although very sick with the virus, this was at least cold blooded murder abd at most a mercy killing. However, it was still murder.

Doctor Rachel Scotts did the same with her confession to Captain Chandler. When she told him that Niels death was intentional, and that she could have managed to find the solution to formulating a new type of delivery for the cure without killing him. Remembering that Niels conspired with Admiral Ruskov to destroy the Nathan James and all onboard (except Dr Scott) and he was was guilty of spreading the virus infection and causing the death of approx. 5 BILLION people (for which even a death sentence would be too light a penalty for such a person). Yet he is captured and treated well by Captain Chandler and the ship's crew.

So, the POTUS' crimes have not been addressed or even took into account, and the Doctor who saved the world with a cure to the virus is treated with utter contempt by Captain Chandler for her actions in killing Niels. It seems the only problem the Captain has is that he wanted to use Niels as a frontman against the immune's propaganda. There's nothing to say people will believe Niels any more than the POTUS, or anybody else for that matter. So what is the REAL problem with Doctor Scott killing Niels? It seems crazy to think there ever would be any!

I've been enjoying The Last Ship so far and jumped from my seat with joy when Niels finally got what was coming to him. However, this episode where Captain Chandler condemns Rachel Scott, restricting her freedoms until a time when they reach shore where she will be made to account for her crimes, is VERY confusing and doesn't seem to align with the rest of the writing in the series so far. Surely the Captain can understand Rachel Scott effectuating revenge for the immune's killing of her mentor, Dr. Julius Hunter, who Niels was instrumental in helping the immune's to locate and murder. They did not have proof of what Niels did but they knew Niels was familiar with the Cult leader who was the one to kill Doctor Hunter!

To me this episode just doesn't make sense. Knowing Captain Chandler's character and mentality this is very much out of character and he seems to be biting off his nose to spite his face in this one. I sincerely hope there is a reversal of attitudes regarding Doctor Scott killing Niels and that the series gets much better. Up until now it has been solid, edge-of-your-seat entertainment. This episode is like seeing Bobby Ewing appear from the shower in Dallas and saying "WTF??????? OMFG as if we believe that!"

Do not waste your time
25 October 2022
Without spoiling the storyline, this is the most corny, cheesey, hammy distaster movie I have ever endured. I consider the time I wasted watching this movie to be a complete loss that I will never regain, nor forget. There are events in the story which will leave you asking yourself "How? Why? WTF!?!?" and you will not be wrong. Do yourself a favour and watch grass grow or paint dry, because it's far more entertaining and productive then what this movie will offer you. Considering the cast, of which there are some renowned actors, they must have been lied to in order to star in these roles. I sincerely hope they got paid for the work they put into this. If it were me, it'd be one I would like erased from memory and existence.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part III (2022)
Season 1, Episode 3
3/10
WARNING! Prepare for disappointment.
2 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The storyline of Leia being kidnapped and Obi-Wan rescuing her should have been wrapped up and resolved in ONE episode. I suspect an entire season is about to be wasted on this. The audience cannot be expected to endure the most annoying brat of a child not doing as they're told while doing/saying all the wrong things to prolong the air time. EP3 gets a 3/10 because it isn't getting any better. Plot holes and goofs by the plenty, along with inaccuracies and impossible turns of events that add nothing to the excitement factor. Disney, what the hell are you doing???

One of the worst movies of 2021
25 December 2021
Neal McDonough is usually brilliant and very convincing as the bad guy with the heart of stone. This movie doesn't let him shine like that. Although he tries his best, the rest of the cast and the final result (directing, editing, etc.) lets it down very badly. Bruce Willis features in yet another movie that should never have been released. Watch this movie at your own risk. It should have ended up on the cutting room floor and stayed there.

Excellent series and ending. NO spoilers!
10 October 2021
This series is a wonderful horror story that focuses heavily on how religion is perceived and projected. If you were raised within a deeply religious family environment then the pressures and expectations that come with it will be all too familiar in certain places throughout each episode. No more so than the finale. It's scary to watch, not mainly because of the fictional horror elements but because of the true to life realism of some of the characters, who are fanatical, fervent, and blind to anything and anyone that doesn't agree with their own precepts and doctrines. Very well told and acted throughout. Well worth a watch. 9/10.
