Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
'Ants don't give up' but you can give this one up
'Ants don't give up' (Hank Pym) but I almost did watching this movie. The first move was great, the second just good but this has nothing to do with a Wasp movie.
One thing I found interesting were the looks of all the quantum characters. But the story is just so ridiculous and the conversation are just so terrible that it just doesn't make for the whole experience.
I must admit the whole multiverse storyline is not working for me so if you are liking it you might like this one as well.
I feel sorry for the actors who had to play in this movie. Just forget about this one you're not missing anything.
The Playlist (2022)
Ruined by the last episode
This series would be great but the last episode is a let down. Otherwise I would simply had rated it a 9. The story tells the origin of Spotify and then suddenly turns to a sci-fi pic.
I really encourage to watch this series. It's a great story with an interesting way of telling it. Each episode focusses on a different person that was relevant to the origin of Spotify. Telling the story this way makes it a way more interesting story than just a linear story.
If you watch this series stop at the end of episode 5. If you don't know anything about Spotify, this is an interesting series for you.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
do not expect your traditional Star Trek
I see a lot of negative reviews but I actually liked the first season. The story is interesting and I liked seeing where the returning characters are in their lives. I honestly liked this better than discovery.
Incredibles 2 (2018)
Disapointing
When the first Incredibles movie came out I thought it was the best Pixar movie ever. But this sequel felt very uninspired. They had this idea of elastigirl taking the lead (what's a modern movie without a strong female right?) and basically stopped there. The villain was not impressive in any way, the climax didn't work, the humor wasn't there. And the underminer still roams freely at the end of the movie....
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
A Sci-fi masterpiece
From the first opening boom till the last moment this film looks stunning and just puts you in a grim, depressing and nasty world. Visually it looks stunning and the soundtrack is really helping the mood of this film.
I always felt one of the most important themes of the first movie was love and love not knowing boundaries. I think this movie is about compassion and humane treatment. Rare themes these days in blockbuster movies.
Sci-fi movies like this are rare. No predictable action sci-fi plot here. Blade Runner 2049 is a great sci-fi novel in a movie format.
Some people have complains about the length of the film. This is one of those films where every scene just has to be there with a pace that fits the film perfectly. I watched it twice and both times I just lost sense of time.
