There's something about this movie . . .
18 January 2007
This is one of those movies that is just a little film but somehow, I can't describe it, it works for me! I love it! I love the black and white, the really dated environment, that blonde hoochie mama, the storyline, etc. etc. Just a fun movie to watch and escape with because it's quite campy. I think the ladies will like it and I never saw that blonde actress before but I thought she played her part well the way she just used the men and had them all drooling over her. She had a great figure too.

I'm not a Richard Egan fan but that's okay, she makes it worth watching!

Worth watching!
29 January 2006
Very entertaining movie but what really makes it worthwhile is the wonderful performance by Kristy McNicol. That alone makes it worth watching - she carries the movie all the way through. Love the scene where she and Tatum have their heart-to-heart confession of what really happened - Kristy shows true emotion. Matt Dillon sure was a cute thing back then! Also, watch for a very young Cynthia Nixon from Sex in the City playing the hippie kid. And Armand Asante - what can I say! He was sure in his prime in the looks department! Tatum is only just okay in this film but then maybe that's how her character was supposed to be. A fun watch!

THE BEST MOVIE I EVER SAW
25 October 2004
I think this is absolutely the best movie I have ever seen! Everyone has said it all about the movie, it's characters, etc. So I will just say what I FEEL whenever I view it. First of all, I had to own this movie so I could always watch it whenever I feel like it. It takes me back to a more simple time in the world but you realize that the problems are the same as today's.

I lose myself in the movie's characters and get involved with their lives. And the soundtrack is unbelievable! Simply one of the most romantic and touching I've ever heard. The music itself is a major factor in making this movie my all-time favorite. And while all the characters and actors are excellent, I am obsessed with Dana Andrews as Fred Derry. There is something in his acting that brings out both the romantic and motherly in me. What a combination! And the ending is unlike any I have ever seen; that is my favorite part of the movie. So romantic, so original and you just knew that they would do all right.

I love this movie and I'm afraid wouldn't understand how anyone couldn't.

Can only be described as "magical"
31 March 2003
I've taped this movie in the black and white and the colorized version, which is no longer seen on TCM. If you want to forget your troubles in a movie and escape for a couple of hours into a "magical" time that no longer exists, watch this movie. Definitely a "chick flick", I think, but a wonderful one at that. The music is haunting, the views of the cottage and it's surroundings make you wish for a time that we can no longer go back to, a time of a simpler life, with no technology, and values were different. The story is like a fairy tale set to real life, where dreams come true in the end. I never get tired of watching it. Good acting especially by the supporting cast. Robert Young didn't look so bad even with his scars, and Dorothy McGuire fit the part. Ladies! Watch this flick if you're into old classic movies and don't mind a bit of corniness. . .
