Bad script, worse direction
23 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If you're going to write a script and make a movie out of it, please do better. The plot was flaky and the director didn't even bother!

Begin with giving time for relationships between characters to develop before they start to throw cheesy lines.

There's also that thing about actors having facial expressions that audiences can see and Dakota Johnson definitely doesn't have many of those.

Would've loved to see how Cassie figures out her powers and learns to use them.

Why is Ezekiel shown to be super powerful and great with his reflexes but suddenly loses track and gets distracted by the fireworks?

Lots of why's there...

What a cliffhanger!
23 September 2023
I rarely say this about cliffhangers but this one hit a spot, a good one.

If you loved the first one, you will surely love this one more because...it is more, it has more, and it definitely will entertain you more. You will surely love the grown up Miles and his loved ones.

Everything about this sequel was so on point with what a Spider-verse should be like, not a single chance to make a prediction. Very smart storytelling with edgy action and vibrant imagination.

Sure, it's another version of Spider Man exploring the multiverse, but it's what has been set up as the base of all Marvel movies and characters therein.

Can't wait for the next one!

Too much Bond-noob hatred
13 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was compelled to write a review based on all the novice reviews that I just wasted my time on reading. No Time To Die not only delivers with cinematic excellence, but justifies the impossible scenarios where even a legendary spy may at times have to choose ultimate self sacrifice over heroism, although for many those go hand in hand.

The dedication put into the storyline for Craig's Bond is unmatched by any other in the franchise to date. The historic connections between characters, the human side of Bond, the dangers of being a spy and the tech are everything that easily makes Craig's Bond, including his sad demise a perfect ending to a legacy.

If you haven't watched it based on the negative reviews, please reconsider. Internet haters don't get to see or think much about anything, they just hate.

Disappointed
18 July 2022
I was so hyped up to watch Kakababu come to life but not only the movie put me to sleep several times, it just isn't what the character represents. Kakababu is not just a limping detective, he's an ideal, and idol, a legend.

I wish if there's ever another attempt at this the filmmaker will concentrate on how breathtaking the stories are and visualise those moments of action and thriller that Kakababu and Shontu experience.

Please don't do this to fans, these characters helped build us.

Must try! Not for an amateur audience...
26 September 2021
To those going full on critique and bashing this from head to toe, ask yourselves if you can ever make a show that's based on a book, satisfy the "readers" and manage to get a 3 star rating tops - if your answer is no then stop complaining and watch it...or not.

If your answer is yes, let me know when you have done it and I'll try it.

Two episodes so far and it's much better than the Hanks met Howard and a half hearted franchise was sort of created.

I'm especially happy that the legend Eddie Izzard is in it, and the flow is quite good.

Dan Brown's stories always deserved to be made into high quality TV shows, and this is a great start!

This is how you entertain
14 August 2021
I never imagined that I'd be so shocked and surprised (in a happy way) with an action movie led by Bob Odenkirk. The guy's a cinematic god!

If you're looking for an action flick that's full of explosive scenes that escalated ten folds than previous ones, watch this.

Don't watch if you live in the past
12 June 2021
This show is building up nicely and although some things may seem a bit too convenient like the gazillions of Hollywood stuff, it's promising. Definitely not for immature viewers who live in bygone days and don't have patience, a virtue practiced by people who actually KNOW Kung fu and not just like to talk about it.

An emotional joyride
16 January 2021
Why didn't we get this fantastic history taught to us in school? With inspiring stories of people like these amazing ladies we certainly would've become a more inspired generation of people.

The struggles, however little of the mammoth part was shown in the film made me well up several times, yet telling me to have faith in my talents and grip the rails on the track towards my goals even more firmly than I have known that I can hold onto.

Perfect cast, perfect storytelling, an absolute triumph of filmmaking.

Great story, awesome action
24 August 2020
If only it ended less abruptly I'd have definitely given it a 9. The way this story began I had to try my best to hold my tears for the fate of little Sancaka, it's a page out of real life. If only the length of the film was increased a bit more along with a bit of fine tuning I believe this international standard flick would have hit the spot.

Please don't let my final rating dishearten you, watch it, you'll love it and want more. I know I can't wait.

Idiocracy (2006)

Under appreciated
3 June 2020
Look at our world now while you watch this film - every guy wearing more or less the same trendy stuff (wayfarers, polos, chinos and moccasins...the douche package), too many butts on Insta, stupid warmongering dictators ruling countries with the backing of greedy capitalists...the list can go on. Idiocracy has summarised that ahead of its time in the best way possible.

Loved the satirical humour!

This is a happy movie, and I'm very happy
27 April 2020
I am quite disheartened with the ratings that this movie has received. It's a feel good movie and it did that job quite well.

The plot isn't the most creative one I agree, but all the ingredients in the movie are supposed to bring a smile to the viewers face and certainly deliver the message that being kind and having hope is very important in life, and so is having family around you for strength.

Good job!

Pointless
27 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I understand the emotion of the mercenary in the film, what I don't understand is why a movie consisting of a feud between drug lords has no drugs in any scenes, why Bangladeshi people can't speak Bangla well, and why the armed forces are working for a drug lord.

The rating I have given is not for the action sequences, they were extremely well done. The plot however seemed like a variation of Man on Fire, and wasn't smart enough.

Another must watch film from Mr. Ritchie
28 March 2020
Every time I watch one of these movies by Guy Ritchie, the only thing I can say in the end is, "WoW! Cool movie!". No different for The Gentlemen.

Cast, chemistry, action, a flare of whodunnit, background score everything falls into place like magnet and metal.

The rating is 9 because I'm waiting for the sequel now.

21 Bridges (2019)

Overhyped
12 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Any good thriller is good because it keeps you, if not totally, then at least leaning towards the edge of your seat. 21 Bridges did not.

Throughout the whole film nothing was happening around any of the bridges, characters were super predictable and some things seemed to be just placed there to make things easy.

Same old FBI interfering in a Police investigation even before the investigation takes off, then laying off too easy with an impossible time limit in a huge borough.

Then comes the ex-girlfriend of one of the criminals involved who is found very easily and gives everything up about identities without much background.

You can smell dirty cops from miles away here, and there wasn't a time during the whole movie where I could say "WTF!" for once. No surprises at all. It starts from the killing of a character named Toriano at a nightclub (no surprises), then Frankie the Narc aiming for straight kills rather than investigating to find out who the big fish is behind the whole 300 keys drug scene.

You may want to skip this one and watch reruns of some 80s flick with more merit.

Heart wrenching story
1 January 2020
Only after watching this movie I got to know that Bangla isn't the only language for which people fought and died.

It was a wonderful movie, you can certainly feel attached to the characters and understand how hard it is to love and protect your mother tongue.

Much respect for the people who suffered greatly to protect their language from stupid invaders.

Perfection!
12 November 2019
Do you improve on perfection? By creating new standards for it and The Deuce hits the spot and goes way beyond.

Touching on all the relevant points of almost three decades that connect storylines into a massive masterpiece that will be a classic for people forever.

And how does everyone in a cast perform so well? It's like they already lived the individual lives before filming this! Big applause to the creators and actors and everyone involved in this.

Open your minds, it's a different Earth!
21 October 2019
Ople are so unkind and restless nowadays, but to each their own. It's true that they need to work on their story but it certainly isn't a show that deserves just 3!

Ruby has got to work on her accent a little more, apart from that her style is great and the cast needs more time to warm up from the looks of it.

I believe it's too early to rate but so far the build up is working well in my opinion.

I cried!
21 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What a beautiful story for a movie! Everyone dreams, but does everyone have a special person who cares enough to make their dreams come true? Can they even dream about having such a special person in their life?

Still Human is one of the best movies from 2018, and definitely an all time "feel good" movie. It will show you how even through heartbreaking struggles we can always dream higher and aim better to achieve them, and never let anything put us down.

Watch it with people you love.

Best Spy Movie of 2019!
13 October 2019
What a movie! I've always admired the work of Luc Besson but this time it's something of a different height.

Plot, acting, action sequences and chemistry were amazing. Sasha Luss should be in more action movies and Anna should definitely be a series or at least get a sequel.

Merci beaucoup pour cette filme monsieur Besson! Vous êtes magnifique!

A triumph in filmmaking
12 June 2019
I have never been so captivated by any true story based show or film as I was by Chernobyl.

It takes a true genius to illustrate one of the worst incidents in human lives ever, and the way they did it is going to serve as a lesson for storytellers and filmmakers for ages to come.

The ever so brilliant cast members did a wonderful job at portraying their respective characters and making us feel what the real people felt when this actually happened.

My heart goes out to all the people who have and are still suffering from this ginormous human error, followed by the continuing falsehood to cover their sufferings only to save the reputation of a crooked few.

Watch it, learn about it, and be truthful...always.

Why cancel a great show?
11 June 2019
They give us a breath of fresh (swamp) air and then take it away for what? What was wrong about it? The setting isn't the usual concrete jungle, the hero isn't a usual cos player, lots of back stories, and a naturally dark plot...this was a great show and I think they should continue.

I mean look at your ratings!

Mirai (2018)
8/10
"An animated feature for the whole family"
18 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If you're a fan of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki films you will definitely love Mirai.

This is the story of Kun, a 4 year old Japanese boy to working parents who is suddenly overwhelmed by the arrival of his newborn sister Mirai. He starts to throw tantrums seeing how the attention towards him is steered away for obvious reasons.

Through the magical garden at their step house Kun discovers realities of the lives of Mirai, their dog Yukko, his Mother and Great Grandfather by traveling to the past and the future, with the guidance of an older Mirai (whose name also means future).

The time traveling sequences are dreamy and sometimes a bit slow, but nonetheless enjoyable.

What you take from this movie is the realisation that you understanding your family is as important as them understanding you, and that can only happen with lots of love and patience while you learn about them everyday.

Shoplifters (2018)

Powerful!
8 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It is not easy for me to be gripped by a story, I need to feel part of it and Shoplifters most certainly hooked me up from the beginning.

The story is of a group of people who have become a family by choice, full of secrets, stricken by poverty hence trying to make living easier by shoplifting here and there.

Their lives change when they find this little girl starving on a porch somewhere in the cold and figuring how she is abused by her parents, they decide to keep her as their own until one day everything goes sideways.

The key lessons I have learned from here are that love unconditionally or don't at all, when a child loves you they can sacrifice everything for you, and if you're a parent you must give your child the best of everything in your reach and nothing but.

Contains mild sexual scenes, but more importantly a cast with a chemistry that fits into the story like a glove.

Funny, but overrated
8 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I guess this is sort of a cult movie that will be appreciated by people with a very specific sense of humour.

Of course, there's a one of a kind scenario shown where a triangle of romance forms between three women - one with supreme power, one with acquired authority and a pure heart and the third an opportunist hungry for a place in the world of elites. The game of jealousy and politics is nothing new in films but the comedy is enjoyable up until the climatic revelations of misunderstandings and emotional trauma.

I'm not saying you shouldn't watch it, just don't expect to be blown away.
