Superman Returns (2006)
Poor, where is the story?
This movie was dull and disappointing. The action was trite and unimpressive, and the actors had very little in the script to work with. Brandon Ruth's Superman appeared to be less charismatic than was generally thought possible and Lois Lane's character had none of the fight that previous Lois Lane's had brought to it. Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor delivered a good performance as did James Marsden as Richard White. However, the dialogue, action and lack of chemistry between Lois and Superman created a film more akin to Superman IV than the Superman of 1978.
Three questions: Where did all the money for special effects go? Why did the film focus more on setting up inevitable sequels instead of delivering a decent story? Why do people like this film?
Bar Girls (1994)
Amateur week in gay cinema
This was an amateurish film. It had the feel of a home movie. The characters were badly acted and as poorly crafted. As a man (I never thought I would feel so weird writing those words) it seemed completely unbelievable. What exactly were we, the audience, meant to think? Were we supposed to sympathise with the characters? I can't even remember their names. It deserves its very bad rating. a feeble movie, with dreadful acting and a dire script.
