Schindler's List (1993)
A Cinematic Masterpiece From The Best Film Maker In History
I first heard about this film through my Grandfather's reading of the book, and as a keen historian especially the 2 World War's, l was immediately drawn to viewing this film. As i sat down to watch this, l was told that this is one of the most powerful cinematic masterpieces of all time, it was hard to see it before the viewing, but after the viewing of this film, l have no doubt that this is one of the greatest films of all time. It captures the horrors of humanity and the best in humanity. All this in 1 film is almost impossible, but the genius Spielberg has done it somehow. This is his finest work, yes ET, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, all fantastic films, but Schindler's List is his finest work. The actors in this film are incredible. Liam Neeson in probably the performance of his well established career is the Protagonist Oskar Schindler. The Antagonist Amon Goeth portrayed by Ralph Fiennes is one of his best performances of his career is chilling as a brutal Nazi Guard. The story of Oskar Schindler had to be told and it was due to the incredible film making skills of Steven Spielberg, the best film maker of our generation if not of all time. All in all, this must go down as one of the greatest films of all time. I certainly enjoyed this movie. WARNING: Extremely graphic scenes, coarse language and violence. These graphic scenes were necessary though for Spielberg to convey to us the brutality of this horrible war.
WrestleMania XXVIII (2012)
Not the worst Mania, but not the best either
There were certainly a lot of great things about this Mania and a few questionable decision on behalf of the boss but an all round good mania.
The night starts off with a world title match for the 2nd year in a row, Daniel Bryan defends against Sheamus this was extremely exciting for me as it would be the first WWE PPV event i would be watching live, now this match lasted 18 seconds yes 18 freaking seconds, Sheamus wins after a massive boot to the head, and we have a new champion. Now the under card of this Mania was extremely poor, don't get me wrong Orton Kane, Big Show and Rhodes for the IC Title are not bad matches, they just don't really deliver anything for the fans to remember. Another terrible part about this night is the extremely poor backstage promos which just seem to be time fillers and pee breaks for all fans at the event and at home.
Now let me get to the high points of this night, the first high point is the Hell In A Cell End Of An Era match between 2 future WWE hall of famers that being of course Triple H and The Undertaker with the added stipulation of Shawn Michaels being the special guest referee. This match is extremely brutal, the best example of that is the amount of hits Taker took with a steel chair to the back. The cuts and bruisers on his back were evident. The match ends after a brutal tombstone, this takes Undertakers incredible winning streak at Wrestlemania to a perfect 20-0. The 3 men walking out together added to the billing of the End Of An Era. The next match for the WWE Title puts the 2 best wrestlers in the company. Chris Jericho and CM Punk. The 2 both claim to be the best in the world, this match proved they both are, an incredible match which didn't get a lot of praise due to it having to follow up Hell In A Cell. CM Punk retains forcing Jericho to tap to the Anaconda Vice. The most anticipated match in wrestling history is finally upon us. Once In A Lifetime the face of the wrestling industry for 6 years John Cena and one of the most successful men in entertainment The Rock. These 2 have a match for the ages, the crowd is insane and are extremely vocal throughout the match, the match is back and forth and the Rock gets the win after he counters an attempted People's Elbow from Cena on Rock into a Rock Bottom and gets the 1 2 3.
All in all this event is saved by it's upper card. World title match should not have been 18 seconds, bad decision from Vince. A poor lower card is saved by an extremely strong upper card.
Snowtown (2011)
Utterly Disturbing, Yet Powerful Film
I hired this movie out as i was interested to see how a movie could be made about such horrible murders that occurred from the early 90's to late 90's in the northern suburbs of the city of Adelaide in Australia The main strong suit of this film is the solid acting. Lucas Pittaway is superb in the lead role of Jamie, the actor that plays the main serial killer John Bunting is also brilliant and they both give a very realistic feel to the film. Some very sensitive issues are touched on in the movie, and is certainly not appropriate for a young audience.
This film is not for the faint of heart, it is very graphic, a reasonable amount of profanity and some scenes are very disturbing.
Prison Break (2005)
Fantastic show that pulls you into a great story with lots of twists and turns
First off i didn't watch this show when it first started i have only just finished watching the whole 4 seasons and final break a few days ago, but man this show was fantastic.
The acting is superb with Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell leading from the front as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, they have great chemistry together and are awesome.
The support cast is also fantastic with Amaury Nolaso portraying Fernanado Sucre to perfection. His scenes with his girlfriend and him on the phone are excellent and make us feel sorry for him even though he is in prison.
Robert Knepper does an awesome job of playing Theodore (T-Bag) Bagwell who is a ruthless killer and rapist but plays his character so good that we almost feel sorry for him when SPOILER! his hand is sliced off by John Abruzzi who's real name i'm not sure of at the start of the 2nd season.
This show has it all; Top notch actors, awesome script, awesome directing and producing and it really is just an all round great show.
Recommended for anyone that wants a show that is different to everything else and loves plot twists and turns, and seriously who wouldn't want to watch a show about someone breaking out of prison.
WrestleMania X-Seven (2001)
A Wrestlemania WWE wish they could do again
This is my opinion is the best wrestlemania of all time, fabulous matches, incredible plot twists it had everything Start to finish this event was fantastic, TLC 2 was without a doubt the best TLC match WWE have ever put on. Triple H vs The Undertaker was so damn good, the fighting outside of the ring was awesome. Match of the night and also main event Stone Cold vs Rock for the WWF Title, 2 of the greatest heels of all time fight it out in a match that is perfectly executed, the twist at the end where Vince helps Stone Cold win is one of the most shocking and most perfectly executed moments u will ever see in the WWE. All in all this is a wrestlemania that WWE wish they could make again, but simply can't anymore because of the lack of talent.
WrestleMania XXVII (2011)
Worst Wrestlemania of all time
First off Wrestlemania is the greatest event in sports entertainment, but this years Wrestlemania was absolutely terrible. Rock as guest host just never clicked and letting him open the show and talk about nothing for 20 minutes really annoyed me, why wasn't a match put on in that time i will never know. Every match except one, where awful, Cole and Lawler match was crap, Stone Cold as guest referee provided nothing to the match was always gonna be a flop. That match basically summed up the main event Miz vs Cena for the WWE Title: the worst wrestlemania main event for a long long time, i love Miz's character but he has zero in ring ability when Cena is carrying u in a match it is not a good sign. Triple H vs Undertaker, now that was a great match definitely lived up to the hype, near falls where Triple H kicks out of a Tombstone, Undertaker kicks out of 3 Pedigree's had the crowd screaming for more the best match of the night by far Awful Wrestlemania gets a 3 out of 10 just for the Undertaker Triple H match
WWE Backlash (2006)
Has it's moments, but fails on awful story lines
Well this PPV was a kind of fallout from a fantastic Wrestlemania 22, in my opinion the last good Wrestlemania, the last few Wrestlemanias have been awful, but Backlash was a very weird but enjoyable show. First match even worth talking about was RVD Vs Shelton a very very good match both guys know how to put on a great match The Shawn Michaels and 'God' Vs Mcmahons is the single worst storyline ever, teasing Michaels over his beliefs come on gets a few laughs but stupid, A surprisingly good match is Mickie Vs Trish for the women's title, very enjoyable diva match, which never happens now because WWE have no real working divas in the company now as they are all Barbie dolls. WWE Title match Cena, Edge, Triple H again nothing special, this PPV is recommended for only die-hard WWE fans
WrestleMania XX (2004)
wrestlemania XX
well this wrestlemania was special as it was 20 years of wrestlemania and they showed that by putting a massive 12 matches on the card 1st up was John Cena vs Big Show for the united states title decent match surprisingly Cena gets the win after a F.U on Big Show a bit unrealistic but hey its WWE 2nd was a fatal four way match for the world tag team titles Rob Van Dam and booker t defend against Dudley boys garrison Cade and mark Jindrak and La Resistance a little short and boring booker and Rob Van Dam retain 3rd was Chris Jericho vs Christian in a surprisingly good match Christian gets the win 4th up was a 2 on 3 handicap match with the rock and Mick Foley taking on randy Orton Ric flair and Batista pretty disappointing match i wanted more from it flair Batista and Orton get the win 5th up was the first ever playboy evening gown match sable and Torrie Wilson take on Stacy Keibler and miss Jackie what can i say HOT HOT HOT 6th up was the cruiser weight open too many people to name I'm lazy but Chavo Guerrero retains after pinning Rey Mysterio 7th was Goldberg against Brock Lesnar both were leaving the company after this match so it was nothing special Goldberg gets the win 8th was a fatal four way match for the tag team titles scotty 2 hotty and rikishi defend against apa and basham brothers and world greatest tag team nothing special here rikishi and scotty 2 hotty retain 9th was the womens title match Victoria defending against molly holly Victoria retains and shaves molly holly's head 10th was Eddie Guerrero vs Kurt angle for the wwe title what a match this was Eddie retains in funny circumstances 11th was undertaker vs Kane taker coming back from a break and taking his undefeated wrestlemania streak to 12-0 12th and last much the main event was triple h vs Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels triple threat match for the world heavyweight title unbelievable match as it had to be very good to top Kurt and Eddie's match earlier Overall a very good wrestlemania i don't think the best one ever but it is a worth while watch if ur a wwe fan
