When ethnic entitlement is led by it's ugliness...

Soft & Quiet this movie is not!

6 seemingly regular woman meet up at a church to talk about the going ons of life..the film plays in "real time" so as to make you a voyeur in the room and to their actions ..as they speak first your eyebrow is raised..then as the women move on to have wine at another location your jaw drops and by the end of this film your face will be aghast...no this drama/ horror/ thriller isn't supernatural nor bloody and does not involve a masked crazed killer..and yet this female driven movie is quite disturbing and will have your eyes riveted to the screen and quite frankly, has moments that make it difficult to watch...

Deadstream (2022)

A social media influencer has a show called Wrath of Shawn on a YouTube like app called Livid and it's about himself facing his fears.. his next challenge will be staying overnight in a real haunted house,..yes, this approach has been done before but Deadstream succeeds in being a "funny stupid" time and I mean that in a good way mostly because of Shawn's wimpish portrayal of everything we hate in some of the influencer's that are actually out there, so that means he's pretty much annoying and yet you find yourself rooting for him..a decent horror comedy that has plenty of laughs and jump scares..a spoof of the Haunted House + Ghost Hunters tv show combos with a dash of the Evil Dead for good measure. Watch with a few friends over a couple of bottles of vino or "?"....whatever floats your boat...

A Dark Song (2016)

A cerebral dark occultist tale with a horror element

Horror movies come in many forms. Some are about the gore, some are about the creatures, and some are just plain disturbing. Though i like many a horror film with those qualities, a true horror fan of the genre also has to appreciate the horror films that try to get under your skin without trying have someone's face ripped off. A Dark Song may be subtle but it is a horror tale nonetheless. What makes this a gem is the ride to the climax. With great performances from the two main characters and it's haunting score it's able to create a tense dark atmospheric mood so that when the horror elements do begin to appear it makes them far creepier than most films with a bigger budget. Most horror movies can be compared to other horror movies because they're filled with the usual clichés but this is a unique horror film with a redeeming quality that is very rare in films of this genre..if your looking for a movie where people are being chased by monsters or tortured by inbreds then this movie is not for you..but if your looking for a horror movie with an intelligent approach then turn down the lights, get your popcorn and let this movie work its magic

The Void (I) (2016)

6.5...The Thing meets Silent Hill = The Void...

If your a fan of the two aforementioned titles then you will enjoy this movie. It's dark and very bloody. Gore hounds will be pleased and it's got a creepy vibe to boot also. Some might say that the character development coulda been better but I was pleased with the pure horror element it was trying to convey. I won't go into the plot cause going into it I knew nothing and that's sort of what kept me in suspense. A film with a bigger budget would have just had CGI in place of the make up gore effects. What makes Films like 1982's The Thing and 1992's Dead Alive is the fun gooey effects that higher budgeted newer polished horror films seem to lack..sometimes there is a beauty in watching a lower budget well made make up effect horror film like Hellraiser or Videodrome..I hope there's a sequel.
