The "perfect" relationship to the extreme!
1 June 2016
Saw this short recently at the Orlando Film Festival for which I was also a part of. You get to see many shorts when you go to festivals like these, some great, some OK, some not so much. But I gotta say that Fairytale Syndrome was one that really stood out.

I guess you could call it a romantic "dark" comedy, if such a category exists. Exploring the "perfect" sexual relationship that may be considered as getting out of hand to some people. The leads are on point and really know how to make your heart melt, or gag, depending on how you view their relationship! Though I think all of us can take away something from these two that we can relate with!

Just a really fun and quirky short film that I'm sure you'll get a kick out of watching! Try and find a place it's showing if you can!

So much heart in this story...
29 October 2015
Recently saw this film at a festival and was blown away. On the outside it seems like another typical romcom, but once you get into it you really see it's much more than that. It's so important for films like these to have likable characters and Chasing Valentine really nails that part. The acting is spot on. You really get a sense of who they are from the very beginning and cheer them on along the way. The comedy is definitely there and in the right places and in the right amounts, not overdrawn or too inappropriate, which tends to be a problem with films like this. Not to mention that the film simply looks great. Nothing "independent" about this one, not that it's a bad thing, but the term "independent" really gets a bad rap in the mainstream. Definitely recommend catching this one if you can! Solid all around!

Great film!

I can't agree with the review below that completely and almost intentionally trashes this film. Saw this at the Las Vegas Film Festival this year and had a great time with it. Yes, the killer is certainly foreshadowed, but the film makes you second guess this in and out, which was part of its charm. You think you know what's going on, then again you begin to hesitate, which only keeps your attention and puts your mind into overdrive. The twists and complete character reversals add to the magic in this film which makes you like it more as the film progresses. Very reminiscent of some of those older 70's films like "Open Season."

Great writing, acting, cinematography and production all come together and deliver a fantastic storytelling experience that keeps your eyes glued to the screen. While no film is perfect and all come with their own faults, this one pulls it off "right!" Cast and crew should be very proud of this one.
